Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 263: The Importance of Wisdom’s Enlightenment

”Time to snap out of it. I won’t tell you too much more. To describe it roughly, it’s like leveling up a skill’s proficiency in a game.”

”Now... you should understand the value of the spellbook at this moment, right? Compared to ordinary spells, the spellbook is a more systematic, finished form for spell promotion.”

”I... I understand...”

I nodded heavily.

”Don’t overthink it, those are things you can’t touch right now. How is it? Uncomfortable knowing too much, right? The spellbook has many other values, but for now... I won’t reveal any more to you.”

Teacher Ji Niang shook her head and returned to her chair.

Although she had just lectured Little Han, Ji Niang still felt it wasn’t enough, but she was also gratified by how quickly the other party was growing.

Was this what it meant to be favored by the heavens?

Truly, it was something one couldn’t be envious of.

”Um... I won’t disturb you any longer, teacher...”

Having gotten the answer I wanted, I had no reason to stay.

I had originally thought I had discovered something good, but now it seemed it was just something I couldn’t use at this stage.

Apart from bringing me new knowledge, it didn’t bring me any improvement.

This sense of disparity was actually quite significant.

But to say I gained nothing at all wouldn’t be true.

From the start of the school year until now, I hadn’t truly mastered transcendent power.

Affirming this point made me understand even more the importance of the knowledge and techniques in the academy right now.

Perhaps this truth was dispensable to others, who felt that what wasn’t theirs now would become theirs after becoming a Transcendent Witch, that it was theirs sooner or later.

So they wanted to accumulate their foundation at this stage, so that at the moment they became a Transcendent Witch, they could master the power that truly belonged to them and be completely reborn.

But in fact, at that time, both the spellbook and the Magic Power Source were merely transforming from tools into their own means.

And accumulating techniques was to make the means one mastered become a possibility for creation.

Although at this moment, I still had many curiosities and other questions about many details before and after the spellbook’s promotion, just as Teacher Ji Niang said just now, knowing too much was really stressful.

It was as meaningless as finding out in elementary school how many days were left until the college entrance exam.

Of course, the most important thing was that I hadn’t mastered true power.

If I were to master true power...

I remembered the life fruit I had snatched during the dream state exchange competition, that panacea-like good thing.

I remembered someone seemed to have mentioned that this thing could also enhance the Power of Nature.

So if I ate it, could I master the Power of Nature like an elf?

But I’m not an elf, so maybe it’s not possible... Their Power of Nature relies on their elven bloodline, while I am fundamentally a witch.

“Are you leaving? What are your plans after this?”

Just as I turned to leave, Teacher Ji Niang called out to me again.

“Uh... I plan to stay quiet for a while longer. I plan to master a technique first.”

I gave my answer after thinking for a moment.

After all, I didn’t have many things that truly belonged to me right now.

Although I had started accumulating spellbooks, this kind of thing was interconnected.

After hitting a wall with the Fireball, I knew I should stop for a while.

As for when to stop, it would naturally be until my Witchification progressed to the point where my mental power could command magic power.

That would be the golden period for truly developing spellbooks and obtaining more powerful means.

Now, while I still had capital, that is, a lot of Arcanite Gold, I would master a technique to ensure I could earn money later on.

This behavior was somewhat similar to when I looked for a part-time job at the bakery before.

Learning a trade to make money was my most simple thought in the face of the unknown life ahead.

I really hadn’t forgotten my original intention...

“Staying quiet for another period of time? Are you addicted to it?”

Teacher Ji Niang complained.

“It’s alright. I find that I quite like a peaceful life.”

Of course, I knew I didn’t truly like a peaceful life, but was breaking my previous instinct of being impatient and anxious about everything, to wear away the trauma caused by my past life.

“Really? How come I don’t believe you? Back then you… Hmm, that’s not what you said at that time.”

“Does Teacher Ji Niang have something for me to do? If so, you can just say it. Didn’t you say you were leaving soon, Teacher Ji Niang? Why are you wasting so much time talking to me?”

Seeing Teacher Ji Niang talking to me so much, I was afraid she had something for me.

“All this time I’ve been talking nonsense is for your sake, and you’re complaining about it. But I do have something for you to do.”

“You really do?”

“Am I joking with you? You should be secretly happy to have such a responsible teacher as me. Let’s not talk about this anymore, let’s get down to business. Open the Academy System on your phone, search for the keyword ’Wisdom’s Enlightenment’, then the mission category.”

“Wisdom’s Enlightenment?”

I asked curiously, but still did as she said.

Sure enough, just as Teacher Ji Niang said, after a search, such a mission really appeared in the mission column.

“This mission… Wait, how long has this mission been posted? One, ten, a hundred… For over a hundred years? Huh?”

I looked at the mission in disbelief and then at Teacher Ji Niang, for a moment not knowing who had the problem.

“This mission was posted during the time when the Witch’s Secret Realm was popular. And this secret realm is one of the few that was not provided by a graduating student, but by one of the academy heads who founded the Witch Academy. At that time, this move caused a craze for completing this secret realm.”

“And it still hasn’t been solved to this day?”

I chimed in.

“Yes, that’s why there’s this mission. This mission is tied to this special secret realm. Back then, this secret realm’s popularity came quickly and went quickly, because the academy head had released an impossible-to-complete secret realm from the very beginning. Because this secret realm has no substantial rewards, the trial within is the most important part. The original intention of the academy head back then was good… sigh…”

“So Teacher Ji Niang, you saw that I had nothing to do and found this for me?”

“Aren’t you going to be quiet for a while? This trial secret realm takes a long time and is very suitable for you. I was hesitant at first, but now you have time, you can go and take a look. If you don’t have time, just pretend I didn’t say anything.”

Teacher Ji Niang shook her head and said.

“Oh, it’s not mandatory?”

“Of course.”

“Alright, then I’ll go take a look when I have time. Anyway, thank you for your suggestion, teacher.”

I silently noted this matter down, but before that, I still wanted to master a technique first, such as… alchemy.

I had noticed it when I was reading about runes in the library.

The most important alchemy ritual in alchemy was a method composed of different rune rituals.

Although runes only occupied a basic part of alchemy, I, who understood almost all the basic runes, undoubtedly had a considerable advantage.

Moreover, alchemy was also a technique that trained mental power.

My mental power couldn’t always be improved through meditation without some practical application.

It needed to be able to control magic power, and before that, there was no problem in controlling alchemy.

What’s more, I also had some common sense memories instilled from the previous Earth Vein Memory, which were recorded in detail in my Memory Bookshelf.

Plus, the professional instruments for basic alchemy apprentices that I had custom-ordered in advance at the library should be arriving today.

“Let’s go, there’s nothing for you here.”

Watching my departing figure, Ji Niang finally sighed.

The Wisdom’s Enlightenment Witch’s Secret Realm, that was a good place.

Even she had gone there when she was studying at the Witch Academy.

Unfortunately, it was already close to her graduation at that time, but the benefits she gained from it were enough to benefit her to this day.

It even became one of the sources of her confidence in her attempt to glimpse the creation of the Grand Spellbook.

Some things could only be understood after reaching a certain realm.

That was the closure of education.

Unfortunately, she didn’t meet a very good teacher back then, but that didn’t stop her from becoming such a teacher.

Wisdom’s Enlightenment was really crucial, the earlier the better.

If it weren’t for the fact that the secret realm couldn’t be popularized throughout the school, those academy heads really wanted to make this a compulsory education for all students.

But many people couldn’t see the importance of this kind of thing.

Potions, elixirs… even many spell effects, those that enhanced wisdom and spirit could show effects faster, but these were all promoted by external forces, not achieved through one’s own efforts.

This was a fundamental difference.

“Heh, why think so much? This kind of thing can’t be forced.”

Ji Niang said to herself self-deprecatingly, but she had no intention of going back.

What a joke, did a Transcendent Witch still need to go back to eat and sleep?

Not necessary.

Even eating was just a matter of appetite, just a craving.

A Transcendent Witch had long since become a transcendent existence.

This was not only a matter of strength, but also a leap in the level of life.

She still had many important things to do.

The plan for the Grand Spellbook was already on the agenda.

She needed a lot of preliminary groundwork, and even had to leave the main world and go to the Witch World’s Great Library to personally find what she needed.

Oh… and, even if Ji Niang was 99.99% prepared for failure in creating the Grand Spellbook, she would still take out the best insurance for that 0.01%, and sign a contract with the Primal Witch who guarded the Witch World’s Great Library.

At this moment, I also returned to my villa very safely.

“Big Sis Xiao Han, you’re finally back. Why are you back later than usual today? I signed for a package for you. It was covered in warnings to handle with care, I didn’t even dare to move it…”

Hong Chenyi saw me return and said to me directly.

“It’s already here? Thanks, where is it?”

I asked.

“It’s right there by the door. I didn’t dare to move it. Is there some kind of glass inside? It made a clinking sound when I took it.”

“Something like that, thanks anyway.”

I gently picked up the large box.

It was full of various instruments.

The so-called glass was probably test tubes and flasks, right?

After all, alchemy involved many things.

Even scientific experiments required so many instruments, so this kind of transcendent-level research like alchemy must be the same.

“Still saying thanks to me? By the way, Big Sis Xiao Han, you’ve become so low-key recently. You changed your face and it’s like you’ve evaporated from the Witch Academy. I can’t even find clips of you on short video apps anymore.”

Hong Chenyi glanced at me.

They were completely baffled by this head of white hair, but they could still see that their Big Sis Xiao Han seemed to have changed slightly from before.

Perhaps she had become more of a grind?

“Isn’t that a good thing? Fame brings trouble. I came to the Witch Academy to learn Transcendent Knowledge, not to become famous.”

“You’re right, Big Sis Xiao Han. Sigh… it’s a pity that the things we’re learning now are so boring.”

“The more boring it is, the more you need to calm down…”

“Alright, alright, I won’t drink the chicken soup. By the way, Big Sis Xiao Han, are you really planning to take me to a secret realm?”

“Sorry, I’ve been busy with my own things and forgot about you guys. But I might be busy again recently.”

I sighed and could only apologize.

I was originally thinking of taking Hong Chenyi to the Wisdom’s Enlightenment Secret Realm, but I remembered Teacher Ji Niang saying it was a long-term secret realm, so Hong Chenyi probably wouldn’t be able to enjoy it.

“By the way, didn’t you hook up with Shi Huiyu? Her strength isn’t bad, right? Why don’t you ask her and see if she’s willing to take you to a secret realm? I found a pretty good secret realm today that can stably provide Magic Power Sources.”

“Stably provide Magic Power Sources! Really!”

As soon as Hong Chenyi heard this, she immediately jumped up from the sofa.

“Yeah, but the entry fee is one Arcanite Gold coin. You’ll have to figure that out yourself.”

“Ar... Arcanite Gold?”

When Hong Chenyi heard this, she immediately deflated.

She had already made a point to learn about these transcendent materials, and also understood how expensive one Arcanite Gold coin was.

“I… sigh, at worst, I’ll sign an IOU contract with Shi Huiyu. The beginning is always difficult, I’ll pay it back in the future…”

“IOU? You want to borrow from Shi Huiyu? Be careful you can’t pay it back and end up giving yourself away.”

I shook my head and advised Hong Chenyi.

“If I have to give myself away, then so be it. At worst, I’ll use myself to pay the debt. If she didn’t want to lend it, she wouldn’t have from the start. I know her well enough.”

“Ew I didn’t expect you to be this kind of Hong Chenyi.”

I said with a feigned look of disgust, “Well… whatever you want. As long as you don’t bother me, I’ll be at peace.”

“Hey! Wait! Big Sis Xiao Han! You haven’t told me which secret realm you were talking about!”

“Trial Secret Realm 0. You can get a maximum of five Magic Power Sources per week, but from what I can see, you guys probably can’t get them all. Shi Huiyu might be able to, but you, not necessarily.”

“My strength isn’t that weak, is it? I’ve been attending the combat training classes diligently too…”

“Anyway, if you guys want to go, find out more about it in advance. There are so many secret realms in the Witch’s Secret Realm, there’s bound to be one that suits you. And many with low entry thresholds are also very suitable for you, but they might not give you good things.”

After a simple explanation to Hong Chenyi, I took these things back to my bedroom.

Actually, the villa was still very large.

After all, it had three floors, and there were many places we hadn’t utilized yet, such as the laboratory on the first floor that was specifically designed for students who had mastered professional memories.

But this couldn’t be compared to the professional and fee-charging alchemy rooms in the academy.

However, it was very suitable for a novice alchemy apprentice like me.

An alchemy experiment that an apprentice like me would conduct couldn’t possibly blow up the villa, right?

How dangerous would that have to be?

If it could blow up the villa, then that would be something special.

That wouldn’t be a failure, that would be a success!

Even a Fireball might not be able to collapse the villa.

It would be directly upgraded to a standard combat method, a powerful attack with no casting prelude, right?

Just as I was organizing and wiping these utensils, a phone call suddenly came in.

“Eh? It’s Big Sis Bai.”

I picked up my phone and saw the caller ID, then answered without hesitation, “Hello Big Sis Bai, why are you calling so late? Shouldn’t you be very busy recently?”

“Mmm… my research project has come to a temporary end. Now, I have plenty of time…”

“Eh? The project is completed? Then are you going to become a Transcendent Witch, Big Sis Bai?”

I asked excitedly.

If Big Sis Bai became a Transcendent Witch, wouldn’t she be directly promoted to a teacher?

Maybe she would leave this world and go explore the void.

I couldn’t be so greedy as to keep Big Sis Bai by my side… although thinking about it, I did feel a little reluctant.

“It’s still early, but… it should be soon, right? Who knows? From the sound of your voice over there, what are you busy with?”

“Oh, I’m just cleaning some utensils. But what did you call for, Big Sis Bai?”

“Can’t I call you if there’s nothing?”

“…No, no, not at all, of course! My phone is always open to calls from Big Sis Bai.”

I was stunned for a moment, then quickly reacted and said.

I usually didn’t like making or answering phone calls.

Because of my past life, a phone call was either a nuisance call or trouble, which in turn became my own stress response.

Perhaps this was the real purpose of a mobile phone.

It was not only for important notifications, nor was it only for when you had something specific to say.

Wasn’t the original intention of inventing the telephone to make it convenient to talk when you’re not together?

But… even if I realized this, it would be very difficult for me to change… but I will try my best to change myself.

For example, right now, I’ll start by finding a topic to chat about!

“Um… Big Sis Bai…”

“Go ahead. I haven’t seen you these few days. Is there anything you need my help with again?”

“Um, Big Sis Bai, are you free? I want to take on a long-term secret realm exploration mission.”
