Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 292: I’ll Call You Senior from Now On! Senior Little Han!

“No stock… then can you take a custom order, Senior? I can wait a few days.”

I asked, “After all, you’re running a business, you can’t refuse a customer’s request, right?”

“Of course I naturally won’t refuse such a reasonable request from a first-year girl. But how much do you want to buy? After all, this kind of thing is generally a luxury item, it’s quite expensive.”

“Hmm… then how expensive is this incense?”

I asked tentatively.

Senior Gong Xihuanhin had repeatedly emphasized that it was quite expensive, a luxury.

I was already mentally prepared.

Since it was a recipe she wasn’t planning on sharing, it was understandable that it would be a bit pricey.

As long as a single portion didn’t cost several Arcanite Gold coins, I could probably accept it.

If it was a little expensive, I would buy some to try.

If it was worth the price, I would come back to buy a large quantity.

“Hmm… roughly… the unit price, considering the cost of materials plus labor… rounding it up, it’s about one Red Copper Coin. And I only accept Red Copper Coins for the transaction. If you buy a larger quantity, I can round off some of the change for you.”

“How much? Just one… Red Copper Coin?”

My eyes widened in disbelief.

Had the prices of things I had been dealing with lately been too high?

However, if I bought a large quantity, it would indeed not be cheap.

“Of course. After all, it involves some raw materials that need to be purchased with Red Copper Coins, so the threshold is slightly higher.”

“Alright! I’ll buy a month’s worth to try first.”

Since the senior said the best time to use it was within a month, I would try it first.

Even if I bought a month’s worth, the cost wouldn’t be too high.

Perhaps this was the confidence of being a little rich woman…

But the costs of living and studying were still somewhat beyond my expectations.

I really should think of a way to earn some money.

As for the part-time job at the bakery… honestly, working there all day didn’t earn much.

Perhaps my previous way of thinking was really wrong.

Only when you were short on money could you truly feel how important it was.

But I still had to buy the effective incense.

Save where I should save, and spend where I should spend.

If the money was used in the right places, it was just another way of having the money by my side.

“Buying a month’s worth?”

Gong Xihuanhin was also a little surprised.

This amount wasn’t much for a regular shop with a lot of foot traffic, but it was different for her.

However, she hadn’t reached the point of being obsessed with money.

“Yes, is that okay? How long will it take? Do I need to pay a deposit or something?”

“It will take some preparation time, a few days. A deposit is naturally required, although I don’t think a first-year girl like you would run off.”

“I’m not that kind of person without integrity. How about we sign a transaction contract directly? It’s safer. I’ll pay in one go, and the goods… can you deliver them to my residence?”

“Is that so? That’s not impossible. In that case, I’ll draft the contract first.”

After busying myself for a while and paying off the bill, I left with a few portions of incense for the next few days and a bottle of aromatherapy recommended by Senior Gong Xihuanhin.

Sitting in the vehicle again, I was also thinking about alchemy.

Incense was also a product of alchemy… So compared to buying from others, I preferred to use things I had prepared myself.

After all, I felt more at ease using what I had made.

Today I was going to try making a wound healing potion with Betty.

If it succeeded, I would ask her if she had any good incense recipes.

If she was also interested, I could borrow her things to practice.

When I arrived at the teaching area, according to the location Betty had sent me, it should be here.

There seemed to be a little while before the agreed time, so I started reading to pass the time.

I also took the opportunity to familiarize myself with the methods needed to refine alchemical potions at the last moment.

After all, the most important method in alchemy, the ”transmutation” ritual, was also divided into many types.

Some required runes to outline a specific transmutation formation, while others required chanting, incantations, and so on.

Chanting and incantations were also manifestations of rune effects, a way of expressing runes through sound.

In fact, runes did not have corresponding pronunciations, only linguistic descriptions.

Chanting was a trial-and-error process of constantly resonating with the rune ritual through sound, and it was a convenient method summarized for utilizing rune rituals.

After waiting for a while, a few minutes past the agreed time, I finally saw a hurried figure get off at a nearby bus stop.

It was Betty, the ”genius” of theoretical practice from the library.

After she got off, her eyes scanned around, and as if relieved, she walked straight towards me.

When she got very close to me, her gaze only briefly swept over me.

I realized she hadn’t recognized me.

“Betty”

So I spoke first.

“Hmm?”

Suddenly being called out by a stranger, she subconsciously became guarded and looked at me, “Who, who are you?”

“It’s Yue. Didn’t you know I’m Yang Yuehan? You don’t recognize me just because I changed my clothes?”

I snapped my fingers, changing into my white-haired appearance in front of her and then changing back.

“Hmm? Eh! Little Yue!”

Betty finally reacted.

“Call me Little Han. That’s what everyone else usually calls me,” I corrected her.

“Alright, alright, Little Han. Sorry, sorry… for making you wait. You came so early, right? I’m usually not this proactive even when my mentor has a task for me…”

“That means your lifestyle is very leisurely. My biological clock hasn’t adjusted yet, so I was a bit presumptuous.”

“Anyway, since you’re here, let’s go. I’ll take you to my mentor’s laboratory. But Little Han, I feel like you’ve changed a lot. Do you feel there’s no need to disguise yourself anymore?”

“Yes, indeed.”

I nodded.

Although I probably knew the disguise she was referring to was the identity of ”Yue,” I was also referring to the disguise I had been wearing all along.

Following Betty upstairs to a proper laboratory, compared to this one, my 8401 felt more like a converted classroom.

“Here this is my mentor’s laboratory. Be careful, don’t touch those precision instruments, or my mentor might beat me up.”

“Don’t worry, I understand.”

I nodded in understanding.

“That’s good. Anyway, even if you break those glass products, don’t touch the things that look complicated. Come follow me here. This is a space my mentor specifically cleared out for me. It’s not big, but those instruments are deliberately placed far away from here. Let’s start here.”

Betty led me to another area.

Here, you could see with the naked eye that the quality of the things had dropped by more than a level.

It really looked like the difference between a mentor and a student.

“Uh… I bought these myself. I ruined the set my teacher prepared for me. Glass is too fragile, and it cracks with just a little vibration. I feel like I’m going to crack along with it.”

“And some of the test tubes and glassware got stained by my finished products and couldn’t be washed off. In short, alchemy is really troublesome.”

“Mm.”

I nodded along.

Just listening to it gave me a headache.

“By the way, can’t the Cleaning Spell wash it off?”

“It can’t be washed off. Even scratching with my nails won’t work.”

Betty came to the counter, picked up a beaker that seemed to have been left in a corner, and handed it to me.

“Look, I missed one. You can try.”

“What did you do?”

A strange smile appeared on my face, but I still took it.

I could feel the fluctuations of transcendent power in the residue on this beaker.

However, after I used the Cleaning Spell, the dirt indeed did not come off.

The Cleaning Spell could clean most stains and dirt, but it was obvious that its effect couldn’t clean stains contaminated with transcendent power.

This required a more refined method to destroy the stability of the transcendent power within the stain.

But on second thought, for Senior Betty to be able to create a stain that even the Cleaning Spell couldn’t remove, she was also a talent!

“How is it? Can’t clean it, right?”

Betty took the beaker, shattered it with a spell, and threw it into the trash can.

“Indeed, it can’t be cleaned. I feel like you could cooperate with a dye manufacturer. A powerful dye that even the Cleaning Spell can’t remove would probably sell well.”

“Alright stop teasing me… Oh! Aahhh! I forgot again!”

Just as Betty wanted to drop the subject, she let out a scream that almost scared me.

“What’s wrong?”

I looked at Betty with some confusion, but she had already dashed to the laboratory door.

“I forgot to do the dust-free treatment again… If my mentor sees this, I’ll get a flick on the forehead again…”

“Dust-free… oh.”

I nodded.

Was it something like a sterile room?

To clean the dust and prevent various minute environmental factors from affecting the experiment.

That transcendent witch was really rigorous.

Even for alchemy, where the precision was on the level of transcendent power, ordinary dust and dirt couldn’t cause much interference.

“Here Little Han, wear this. It can generate a dust-removing spell effect. I’ll quickly dust the area where we walked. I hope my mentor doesn’t find out…”

“Okay.”

I took the thing Betty threw at me.

It was something like a bracer.

Seeing the runes inside and the operation of the transcendent energy, this should be an alchemical item that attached a very common spell.

Looking at the wear and tear, it should have been used many times.

I put it on my hand, fumbled with it for a while, and then successfully used it.

After all, this was an alchemical item with a mediocre effect, at most a little more complicated than a lesser spellbook.

Once I understood the general structure, I roughly knew how to use it.

I even had the illusion that I could modify it, but it wasn’t a spellbook.

I might need to master some special techniques to modify it.

No, once I mastered this technique, I felt like I could directly create this kind of simple alchemical item.

“Phew alright, I hope my mentor can pretend she didn’t see it. My mentor hasn’t hit me for three days. She shouldn’t hit me for such a small thing…”

At this moment, Betty walked towards me with a sigh.

It seemed she had finished cleaning up.

“Is your mentor that strict?”

I couldn’t help but ask, seeing Betty like this.

“Otherwise, do you think I want to run to the library? If I don’t stay there, I don’t have any legitimate reason to leave this mentor of mine… ahem, but my mentor is a good person. It’s just that I can’t quite keep up with her ideas. Maybe it’s because I’m personally quite dull? I have a few senior sisters, and my mentor likes them very much.”

“Oh well, let’s not talk about this. Let’s get straight to the point. I’ll go find the recipe first, and I’ll forward it to you.”

“Mm.”

I nodded and opened my phone.

I wasn’t waiting for Betty to send me the recipe, but was opening the online library on my phone to search for information, to see if there was any information or literature related to the flesh and blood healing potion.

After I finished searching, a huge pile of search results and page numbers made my eyelids twitch.

The recipe Betty said she got looked a bit ”cheap.”

There were so many materials and many different versions of the flesh and blood healing potion’s extended potions.

Some even had detailed steps and principle analysis.

I had just glanced at it and hadn’t looked carefully when Betty sent over a document.

After opening it, the content was very simple: potion name, required materials, techniques, transmutation ritual, steps… a world of difference from the content I found in the library.

“Wait, Betty, this recipe of yours… is this all there is?”

“Indeed, this is all there is. My mentor sent it to me and told me I could try it. She said my current knowledge reserve should be enough… probably…”

At this moment, Betty also seemed a little unconfident.

“By the way, have you searched for related information in the library? About the flesh and blood healing potion.”

I looked at this simple potion recipe.

If one had to figure it out on their own, how many materials would be wasted?

“Huh? The library collects these things? I never really paid attention. For this recipe, I even specifically asked one of my senior sisters about the specific operational details and the transmutation ritual needed.”

“I think you need to go to the library and look at the professional ones,” I said with a serious face.

“This… I have to make another trip to the library… it’s so far…”

“Ride a flying broom. It’s not far from the teaching area to the library.”

“I… I haven’t taken the flying license test either? I didn’t care about it in the first two years, and when I started to take it seriously, I didn’t have time to take the test… I even failed it once and paid the money for nothing. I think taking the bus is… quite good…”

When it came to taking the flying license test, Betty seemed to get a headache.

“And I have a fear of heights. I failed during the high-altitude flight…”

“Alright, but can’t you log into the library on your phone? Won’t you try it?”

“Wait… can you do it on your phone? Um… excuse me, is it free to read books on your phone?”

“How could it be free? You definitely have to pay to read the full text. Wait, you didn’t know?”

“Uh… I really didn’t know. I’m sorry, boohoohoo I’ve brought shame to the title of senior sister! I’ll call you senior sister from now on! Senior Sister Little Han!”
