The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 650: Chapter 649: Interrogation

After speaking, Xia Wenjin lowered the carriage curtain, as if she had just mentioned something as mundane as the good weather today.

Nanny Zhou: ”...”

The two maids preparing to take the lead: ”...”

Gu Heng: ”...”

However, Gu Heng, who was sent by Xue Niang, knew this young lady was the true master, and his execution was excellent. He responded with a ”Yes!” and indeed raised the whip, urging the horse forward.

Wenjin’s words were, of course, heard by Geng Shuang and Xu Luo. Just as their expressions changed, thinking Xia Wenjin was only bluffing, they heard the sound of hooves. The carriage was actually charging straight at them.

Geng Shuang’s attendant and the other two servants were a yard away from the carriage, but the horse was fast.

Seeing the driver’s ordinary face, which surprisingly remained calm and resolute as he steered the carriage head-on in this direction.

And with this posture, it seemed they wouldn’t slow down even if they hit someone.

Geng Shuang’s attendant initially wanted to please his master, to let him flaunt in front of Miss Xu and Miss Luo. He had a keen eye; this carriage looked simple and ordinary, suggesting a plain owner, an easy target for bullying.

Upon seeing it was an attractive lady, he was worried his master might fancy her and be displeased with his decision. Fortunately, his master was clear-minded, knowing Miss Xu and Miss Luo were more important than beauty, confidently stepping up to berate her.

Who could have imagined this shabby carriage, driven by a young girl, would be so bold and reckless, charging forward when said so. And the driver, fearing nothing, obediently followed the young girl’s command, unafraid of injuring someone?

This is the Seventeenth Princess’s flower viewing event; who could bear this responsibility?

Even as these thoughts ran through their minds, they saw the carriage charging relentlessly, without slowing down, and someone’s face turned pale.

The attendant quickly jumped to the side, and Geng Shuang also escaped to the roadside. Xu Luo and Miss Luo paled; they wanted to move but their legs gave way, making it impossible to budge. The maids and matrons around them turned pale with fright and hurriedly dragged their mistresses to the roadside. Someone eventually tripped, dragging down the adjacent person, who in turn pulled down others, leaving a heap of rolling bodies.

Though Gu Heng’s carriage seemed in a rush, he had control, riding close to the right side. If these people weren’t intentionally blocking the way like that attendant, recklessly spreading their arms, there would be no problem at all.

But when something moves too fast, the eyes may have some deviation, resulting in fear and exaggerated small differences, making it seem like the carriage was intentionally heading to crash into people.

Amidst the tumbling bodies and sharp screams, Gu Heng had already steadily maneuvered the carriage past them, heading to the parking spot without even brushing against their clothing. ℴ

This was quite the scene.

Not only was Geng Shuang furious, but Xu Luo and Miss Luo were livid, their faces flushed with anger. With the help of maids and matrons, they stood up, still trembling in their legs.

Feeling great embarrassment having been forced to retreat awkwardly, Geng Shuang angrily snorted, ”Well, daring to recklessly drive horses to harm, truly bold beyond measure. Do you even know where we are? Like they could act wild here. Miss Luo, Miss Xu, I will seek justice for you!”

Saying so, he led the servants back to block Xia Wenjin’s carriage.

This was merely a parking area, with neither the Seventeenth Princess’s group nor Jinting Pavilion’s owner arranging anyone here, only some drivers resting nearby. Seeing the carriage speed past the crowd causing screams and chaos, they naturally watched the spectacle from afar.

Such events don’t occur often; provides them much conversation later.

This infuriated Geng Shuang even more.

Meanwhile, Gu Heng had already parked the carriage orderly. Nanny Zhou’s heart raced at the sudden acceleration, a bit bewildered, while the young maids quickly gathered themselves to support Xia Wenjin alighting.

After parking the carriage, Gu Heng set the stepping board in place. Xia Wenjin did not need assistance and descended effortlessly.

Lifting her gaze, she saw Geng Shuang and his entourage rushing back angrily.

On this point, Xia Wenjin was not surprised at all.

Nanny Zhou, briefly dumbfounded, quickly regained her composure and hurried down from the carriage.

Seeing the crowd over there, Nanny Zhou was somewhat worried.

She hadn’t expected such a scenario.

But thinking carefully, it seemed her lady wasn’t at fault. These people initiated provocation and ridicule; who doesn’t have a temper?

She promptly stepped forward two paces, standing in front of Xia Wenjin, ready to handle the matter.

Under such protection, Wenjin was a bit surprised. However, she quickly understood, guessing Second Aunt probably entrusted Nanny Zhou with instructions, reflecting Second Aunt’s regard for her.

She softly replied, ”Nanny Zhou, don’t worry, it’ll be fine!”

Indeed worried, Nanny Zhou feared her lady might suffer. She turned and instructed the maids, ”Watch and protect the lady!”

The maids quickly nodded.

Gu Heng stood to the side, neither far nor near from Xia Wenjin, saying nothing, his gaze calm without any sign of fearing trouble.

Geng Shuang raised his eyes, observing the maids and matrons shielding Xia Wenjin as if meeting a formidable enemy. The impudent young lady stood leisurely, her gaze steady, jolting Geng Shuang.

He pointed at Xia Wenjin, ”Such audacity! To command servants to recklessly drive, colliding with me and Miss Luo and Miss Xu. Today, no matter who you are, I won’t let you off!”

She’s so pretty; frighten her a bit—if she’s timid, perhaps she could be taken into the mansion.

Xia Wenjin observed the hidden calculation and sordid delight in his eyes, her gaze chilling. She coolly remarked, ”Did anyone get hurt?”

Geng Shuang was momentarily stumped—no one truly injured—yet Xu Luo and Miss Luo were scared pale and fell embarrassingly, now angrily tearful. He immediately retorted, ”No injury, but causing Miss Luo and Miss Xu to fall is a grave error!”

Xia Wenjin uttered an ”Oh” and commented, ”My carriage is small, only moved three and a half feet to the right. The road is wide, and the carriage didn’t even scrape anyone. Them falling due to instability now counted against us? Such audacity!”

Geng Shuang flared, ”Not from collision but fright by the carriage; is there a difference?”

Xia Wenjin nonchalantly replied, ”This is a path; blocking it without awareness leads to fright—isn’t that self-inflicted?”

”You...”

Xia Wenjin’s cold gaze swept over, ”Humiliate yourself, what’s that do with me?”
