The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 602: Chapter 601: The One Person She Never Knew Existed

Xia Wenjin said blandly, ”Young Master Huangfu, you’re joking. Who do you think you are? I’m just a woman from Jianghu, how could I dare to have any prejudice against you?”

Huangfu Yuxuan spoke gently, ”Wenjin, you’re being too distant. Even if you refuse to acknowledge our marriage agreement, back then we were about to get married, and you ran away at the last moment, which is an undeniable fact!”

Xia Wenjin said amusedly, ”Young Master Huangfu, is there any point in bringing up these old matters repeatedly? The marriage agreement with you was because my father was desperate for help. If you had been somewhat upright, you would have realized that this so-called agreement was merely an expedient in a crisis! Now you’re still clinging to it; how is that any different from exploiting vulnerabilities?”

Huangfu Yuxuan shook his head, ”Wenjin, you’re wrong. I sincerely wanted to marry you at the time, your father agreed, the brothers in the village agreed, but after you awoke, you immediately broke off the engagement. I think that’s called burning bridges after crossing the river!”

Huangfu Jingchen said, ”A forced melon is not sweet; in matters of marriage, mutual affection is best!”

Huangfu Yuxuan chuckled, ”You’re speaking comfortably from a distance! A gentle, lovely woman is a gentleman’s pursuit. When you find a woman you like, you must hold on firmly. Should I let her go and easily hand her over to someone else? Right, my cousin Jingchen?”

The words ’my cousin’ caused Huangfu Jingchen’s face to change.

Xia Wenjin’s expression also changed. She didn’t look at Huangfu Yuxuan but first turned to Huangfu Jingchen, asking, ”What did he call you?”

Before Huangfu Jingchen could speak, Huangfu Yuxuan quickly said, ”Cousin Jingchen, seeing you enjoying tea and talking so happily with Wenjin, I thought you had a good relationship, but have you not even told her your real name and identity?”

Huangfu Jingchen hurriedly said, ”Wenjin, let me explain!”

Xia Wenjin stared intently at Huangfu Jingchen, frowning slightly. Very quickly, she said with a clear tone, ”Young Master Huangfu has good means!” She turned to Huangfu Jingchen. ”I don’t believe a word of what he says! Ignore him!”

Huangfu Yuxuan saw the intimacy between her and Huangfu Jingchen, noting how she didn’t mind Huangfu Jingchen’s concealment of his identity, while she remained ice-cold towards his courtesy and respect, as if he were a sworn enemy.

It was simply ungrateful!

He had never been as angry as he was now. With a cold laugh, he said, ”Miss Xia, mistaking good intentions for donkey’s liver and lungs, you’ll regret it one day!”

Xia Wenjin replied calmly, ”No need for your concern!”

Filled with rage, Huangfu Yuxuan’s cold eyes swept over Xia Wenjin and then over Huangfu Jingchen, revealing a hint of mockery deep in his eyes. He flicked his sleeves and turned to leave.

His clean departure surprised Xia Wenjin.

However, she was in no mood to think deeply about it now.

Just now, in front of Huangfu Yuxuan, she appeared calm and indifferent, but inside, her heart was already in turmoil. If he truly was Huangfu Yuxuan’s cousin, then he too would be an Imperial Grandson or a member of the Imperial Family? The affairs of her past life lingered deeply in her memory, yet she distinctly didn’t remember any cousin of Huangfu Yuxuan’s being named Jingchen.

She gazed at Huangfu Jingchen with scrutinizing eyes, her mind in a chaotic mess.

Huangfu Jingchen felt anxious yet slightly hopeful. Earlier, Wenjin didn’t seem overly angry. If he explained sincerely, perhaps Wenjin wouldn’t hold a grudge?

He wanted to offer his heart fully, letting Wenjin truly feel his sincerity.

Looking at Xia Wenjin, his voice earnest and low, he said, ”Wenjin, my parents have also come to the Capital City, and they wish to meet you very much!”

Xia Wenjin looked at him with a somewhat peculiar gaze, her voice tinged with stiffness, ”Can you tell me who your parents are? Or should you be calling them Father King and Mother Consort? Prince Lu? Prince Xin? Oh no, since you say you’re from Yunzhou, then are they Prince Cheng?”

Detecting her off-tone voice, Huangfu Jingchen fumbled, ”Wenjin, I didn’t intend to keep it from you. While traveling through Jianghu, I used an alias. I had mentioned this before to you, and I wanted to be honest about my identity, but you expressed not wanting to associate with anyone from the Imperial Family. I was afraid to speak up, fearing that if I did, you would leave me. But Wenjin, believe me, I truly didn’t mean to deceive you! I was just afraid...”

”You still haven’t told me who your parents are!” Xia Wenjin abruptly interrupted, her voice suddenly sharp.

Huangfu Jingchen realized Xia Wenjin was already angry and was on the brink of an outburst.

He cautiously said, ”My father is Prince Cheng!”

Prince Cheng? Xia Wenjin was taken aback.

Did Prince Cheng have such an adult son?

Why was she unaware of this in her past life? 𝑓𝑟ℯℴ𝓂

She stared at him, suspiciously asking, ”Prince Cheng is your father? But as far as I know, doesn’t Prince Cheng only have one Princely Heir named Huangfu Haichen? And a daughter named Li Ye!”

Huangfu Jingchen was somewhat stunned, ”A younger brother is the Princely Heir?”

Curiously, he asked, ”Wenjin, how did you know?”

How did she know? Naturally, from her past life.

Xia Wenjin’s mind was in turmoil, and she was momentarily unable to think clearly. However, she certainly wouldn’t reveal the truth to him. She turned her face aside, saying, ”If I told you I dreamt it, would you believe me?”

Huangfu Jingchen exclaimed, ”Haichen is my brother, Li Ye is my sister!”

Xia Wenjin was even more shocked. Those two names matched, yet she was completely unaware of a Huangfu Jingchen in existence. This was why, knowing Huangfu Jingchen’s extraordinary background, knowing he came from Yunzhou, she hadn’t suspected he was Prince Cheng’s son.

Because in her past life, he didn’t exist.

How could this be?

Xia Wenjin stared intently at Huangfu Jingchen, her gaze so peculiar that it made Huangfu Jingchen even more confused and anxious, softly calling, ”Wenjin...”

A jolt went through Xia Wenjin’s heart, and she remembered: once, when conversing with Huangfu Yuxuan about this Prince Cheng, Huangfu Yuxuan had mentioned that Prince Cheng once lost a son in his early years!

Meaning, Huangfu Jingchen died young!

At that thought, her heart twinged with pain.

Too much information rushed into her mind at once, making her already chaotic mind even more confused. Early years? Huangfu Jingchen was a person who hadn’t appeared in her past life because he had died early on.

Yet in this life, Huangfu Jingchen appeared before her.

Thinking back to when she had this conversation with Huangfu Yuxuan in her past life, it must have been a year later, on some day.

So this ’early years,’ was it much earlier than that, or was it within that year?

Her gaze complex, a person who shouldn’t exist appeared in front of her, and she had grown fond of this person.

Originally she thought she had found her true love, could leave the Capital City for a peaceful life, but that person was an Imperial Grandson!
