The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 646: Chapter 645: Nanny Zhou

During this period, Xia Wenjin did not return to Xia Mansion, not because she was upset with Xia Wanqing, but because she was genuinely busy, very busy, especially busy!

Like today, after leaving Xia Wanqing and the others’ sight, she went on to attend to her own affairs.

Xia Wanqing and the others drank and chatted all day, while Xia Wenjin was busy all day too, appearing in various places non-stop.

All the enterprises Xia Wenjin developed across Jianghu were scattered in various locations. In Capital City, she had established branches only for Yan Zui Xuan and Jinxiu Square. Of course, Feiyun Pavilion also had a presence in Capital City, and even Flying Eagle Hall and Feige Hall had moved here to oversee, but these forces were still developing in the shadows, unlike Yan Zui Xuan and Jinxiu Square which were more public.

The Yunhua Trading Company, newly set up in Capital City, had already gotten on track, but inevitably it had to compete with some long-established businesses in Capital City, sometimes facing exclusion and targeting, thus requiring more energy to be invested.

Actually, not just today, she was this busy for most of the time she spent in Capital City.

After a busy day, by the time she returned to Xia Mansion at dusk, Xia Wenjin fell asleep inside the carriage.

Ah Yuan knew he wouldn’t have much time to stay by the young lady’s side, so he cherished the moments while driving the carriage so smoothly that it seemed like it wasn’t moving at all.

When the carriage arrived at Xia Mansion and just stopped, Xia Wenjin woke up.

Ah Yuan got off the carriage, and this time, he refused to use the board as a step but instead got down on his own and prostrated on the ground.

Xia Wenjin lifted the curtain of the carriage and was about to get off when she saw Ah Yuan blocking in front and couldn’t help but ask, ”Ah Yuan, what are you doing?”

Ah Yuan looked up with eyes full of respect and anticipation: ”The young lady saved my life, allowing me to live like a person, no longer in fear, nor bullied and humiliated. This life was given by the young lady. I... I can’t speak well; I want to say, whenever the young lady needs anything from Ah Yuan, just instruct me, and even if I have to risk my life, I will go through fire and water for the young lady.”

Xia Wenjin laughed and said, ”Ah Yuan, you’re already helping me with things; you don’t need to go through fire and water, just live well! Get up!”

Ah Yuan stubbornly refused to stand up; he firmly said, ”Young lady, I know that tomorrow I can’t be the carriage driver for the young lady anymore. Just step over me, and then Ah Yuan will always remember that I’m the young lady’s driver.”

Xia Wenjin: ”...”

Remember being her driver? Such a modest pursuit indeed.

Yet she could feel the sincerest and simplest affection in Ah Yuan’s heart. To him, the life-saving grace was a slightly troublesome act, yet it was a different life.

Xia Wenjin wouldn’t say not to be grateful or not to keep these things in mind. She saved a life, and if the person doesn’t show gratitude or even care, she would rather save a dog!

However, she wouldn’t let anyone become a death warrior or a weapon in her hand because of a life-saving grace.

She needed manpower; everyone had their strengths, and she arranged for them to handle affairs in various places.

She’s not overly altruistic. While she can give the rescued people a different life, freeing them from their past miserable fate, expecting no return for her kindness? That depends on the situation!

Ah Yuan said, ”Young lady, please get off!”

Xia Wenjin stopped saying more, stepped on Ah Yuan’s back, and got off the carriage.

Ah Yuan was very happy; he didn’t immediately climb up but kowtowed to Xia Wenjin before getting up, saying, ”Young lady, I’m going to see Xue Niang; take good care of yourself!”

Xia Wenjin nodded.

As she reached the front yard, Housekeeper Yu Hou quickly came out to greet her, saying, ”Young lady, you’re finally back!”

Xia Wenjin asked, ”What’s the matter?”

Yu Hou replied, ”Someone from Second Master’s family is here!”

This Housekeeper Yu is not from Haotian Village; he was hired after Xia Wenjin bought the mansion. The acknowledgment between Xia Wanqing and Xia Shi’en as brothers was very confidential, known only to the two families.

Being the housekeeper, Yu Hou certainly knew that Xia Shi’en was Xia Wanqing’s second brother, hence calling him Second Master.

Someone from Second Uncle’s side sent a person?

Xia Wenjin was somewhat puzzled, asking, ”Did they send something over again? Just register the items and entertain the person well after that!”

This waiting for her to make a decision was not typical of Yu Hou’s usual shrewd handling.

Since the acknowledgment as brothers, Xia Shi’en’s side had been sending things occasionally for fear they might lack some supplies initially arriving in Capital City.

Actually, Xia Wenjin was not new to the Capital City; was there anything unfamiliar? Her business was now developing well, and the trading company started making significant profits, with no shortage of silver taels.

Yu Hou said, ”It’s a nanny, claiming to be someone from Second Madam’s side, wanting to see you, young lady!”

Xia Wenjin understood now; it was to see her.

She said, ”Where is the person?”

Yu Hou replied, ”She’s been waiting in the hall the whole time; as she’s a female guest, I asked my wife to accompany her!”

Xia Wenjin said, ”Very good, I’ll go right away!”

Upon reaching the front hall, Housekeeper Yu’s wife relaxed upon seeing Xia Wenjin return, gave her a brief explanation, and then very perceptively withdrew.

Housekeeper Yu’s wife is quite a sensible person, but that nanny over there is, after all, from the Right Minister’s Mansion and specifically someone by the Prime Minister’s Wife’s side, regardless of how it appears, it gives her some pressure.

The nanny originally was sitting there; upon seeing Xia Wenjin, she quickly rose and said with a smile, ”The young lady is back; busy all day, must be tired, right?”

Xia Wenjin smiled and said, ”Nanny Zhou, why have you come personally today? Is there something Second Aunt wants to instruct?”

Nanny Zhou said, ”Yes, there is one thing; the Madam asked me to tell the young lady.” She took a note from her sleeve, saying, ”There is a flower viewing event the day after tomorrow organized by the Seventeenth Princess, and she has sent invitations to the young gentlemen and ladies, and Madam also fetched one for the young lady, asking her to attend the day after tomorrow!”

Xia Wenjin: ”...”

Seems Second Aunt understands her heart very well!

In her previous life, Xia Wenjin hated these gathering events the most; flower viewing events were nothing but a session of comparison, the higher the host’s status, the more lively the session.

In her previous life, Xia Wenjin was the Heir Consort of Huangfu Yuxuan, but everyone knew she was of Jianghu origin; those young ladies were polite on the surface but mocked her behind her back. Xia Wenjin, absorbed in thoughts about Huangfu Yuxuan, was hardly patient with the petty toxicity between these young ladies.

The only option was to decline when possible, not attending when she didn’t want to. Her status meant no one could outwardly compel her!

But it’s different in this life; she hasn’t been in Capital City long. Neither as a Jianghu woman nor as a merchant, she can temporarily step into that circle.

In her previous life, she wasn’t concerned due to her contentment and frustration, but this life, she has ambitions!
