The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 615: Chapter 614: Chickened Out

Old Liang’s clothes had been slashed in several places by Old Zhao and Old Qian; he only wore an outer garment to cover them, but the torn clothes inside were still visible.

Kang Xiaomin’s driver actually whipped Old Liang with a horsewhip, clearly dissatisfied that this shabby carriage didn’t make way when their family’s carriage came, forcing them to follow behind for so long.

When the master is arrogant, the servant is also brash.

Of course, Old Liang couldn’t be hit by that whip and dodged to the side.

The whip struck the carriage shaft, leaving a white mark, showing how much force was used!

The driver cast a warning glance at Old Liang and arrogantly returned to his own team.

Old Liang’s face turned dark, clenching his fists. He had never endured such humiliation in the village!

Kang Xiaomin had witnessed the driver’s actions, but as her own servant bullied someone else, she obviously pretended not to see it and even felt a bit proud, giving Xia Wenjin a provocative look.

Seeing the procession high-spirited and about to leave, Xia Wenjin calmly said, ”Wait!”

Kang Xiaomin turned around, ”Are you calling me?”

Xia Wenjin replied calmly, ”Your dog bit someone, have him come out and apologize!”

Having been mocked and scorned, she could brush it off, but no one was allowed to bully her!

Upon hearing this, Kang Xiaomin was instantly displeased. She frowned and said, ”I saw it clearly, wasn’t he not hit? What, are you so poor you need to extort people?”

The Kang family’s driver, having been called a dog by Xia Wenjin, had a fierce look in his eyes.

Xia Wenjin narrowed her eyes slightly, ”Not hitting means no apology is needed? If your dog wasn’t properly tied and bit my people if they weren’t alert, in such a case, shouldn’t anyone with basic manners know to apologize? Do you lack the most basic family education?”

Kang Xiaomin angrily retorted, ”What’s wrong with you? You’re the one with no upbringing! Apologize? Are you worthy? Not to mention it didn’t hit, even if it did, it would serve you right! What’s this place? For poor commoners to make a scene?”

Liu Xiuyin chimed in, ”Yes, not just anyone can come here, can you take responsibility for offending people of high status?”

Xia Wenjin didn’t waste words with them and told Old Liang, ”I initially thought it would be fine to show some humility, but some people just don’t know what’s good for them and think the world belongs to their mother. No need for humility then. Overturn that carriage!”

”Dare you!” Kang Xiaomin was enraged. Initially, seeing Xia Wenjin so beautiful had incited envy, but if her status was extraordinary or her family prominent, they would have shown some caution. Yet, seeing the carriage, it was clear that was impossible, so they naturally showed no courtesy.

Seeing Old Liang truly approach the Kang family carriage, Kang Xiaomin shouted, ”Kill him!”

The Kang family driver, having been insulted as a dog earlier, had long wanted to act. Upon receiving the order, he immediately lunged forward, swinging the whip with even greater force, his eyes full of malice.

Old Liang reached out, grabbed the end of the whip, and the driver, unable to pull it back after trying twice, flushed with anger and shouted, ”Let go!”

Old Liang relaxed his grip, and the driver, pulling back hard, fell on his rear. He opened his mouth to curse, but suddenly, something soft blocked his mouth.

Feeling a foul stench in his mouth, he quickly spat it out. It was a lump of wet mountain mud, dirty and black, seemingly with bird droppings on it. He had never suffered such a loss.

Just as he was about to curse, he looked up and saw Old Liang’s eyes.

Those eyes were unlike his malice; they were truly fierce, emitting a murderous aura.

Old Liang, bringing out the bloodthirsty aura from the Jianghu, not to mention the driver, scared even the Kang and Liu family servants who were ready to help.

Kang Xiaomin, with a loud voice but timid heart, said, ”You, you dare touch my family’s carriage? I’ll make you pay the price!”

Xia Wenjin calmly replied, ”People move aside, the carriage moves aside!”

Her words were so firm that they made Kang and Liu hesitant. Could this girl’s identity be very special?

The Kang family’s father was an Assistant Minister of the Secretariat of Fourth Rank, and Imperial Censor Liu was merely Fifth Rank. In the Capital City, they were not very high-ranking officials, usually flaunting superiority only in front of commoners or those of lower rank.

They thought they had encountered a small-town girl to bully, but with her so firm, they became afraid.

Old Liang, without further ado, walked directly to the Liu family’s carriage, wrapped his arms around the horse’s neck, and with one forceful move, slammed the horse shoulder onto the ground. Dust flew up, shaking the Kang family’s carriage nearly apart.

This scared the Kang and Liu family people into silence, and Kang Xiaomin and Liu Xiuyin’s faces turned pale with fear.

After overturning the horse earlier, blood oozed from the injuries on him, fearing it would dirty his outer clothing, he simply removed his outer robe, revealing the wounds that made those people shudder.

Old Liang, in a commanding voice, said, ”Will you move it yourself, or should I move it?”

The driver, knowing his strength was no match for the horse, immediately cowered and said, ”I... I’ll move it!”

Xia Wenjin said, ”Apologize first!”

The driver muttered, ”So... sorry!”

Kang Xiaomin was shaking with anger, but she didn’t dare say anything, terrified by Old Liang’s ferocious appearance and the blood all over him, fearing for their lives.

The driver moved the carriage aside, creating a larger space, and Old Liang naturally took the opportunity to drive the indigo cloth carriage forward.

He realized he couldn’t stir trouble in the Capital City, for fear of causing trouble for the Village Chief and the Young Miss, but he couldn’t be afraid of trouble either; otherwise, any small fry would dare tread on their heads.

He told Xia Wenjin, ”Young Miss, I won’t accompany you up the mountain. I’ll guard the carriage here, in case those blind ones cause more mischief. Be careful on your journey!” As he spoke, he glanced at the Kang and Liu individuals.

Xia Wenjin smiled and nodded. Old Liang’s wounds needed medication, and his appearance might scare other incense guests. After all, this was a pure land of the Buddhist Sect, and she was here to seek answers, not to be turned away for various reasons as she was in her past life.

With this little interlude, Kang and Liu dared not trouble Xia Wenjin. They hurried to catch up but, sadly, with their usually idle bodies, they fell behind.

Although everyone walked, the differences in status were evident—some were surrounded by servants, while others walked alone.

Xia Wenjin belonged to the latter.

But the girl’s calm demeanor didn’t make her mind it at all.

Though it seemed like a short path, it was not close at all, especially since it was uphill. However, by now, no one would complain.

Among the young ladies and noblewomen feeling tired and sore, Xia Wenjin’s relaxed ease stood out.

Already able to see the temple gate, Xia Wenjin looked up.

Bodhi Temple, finally arrived!

Xia Wenjin felt excited inside.

She could seek the Nine Lives One Life Fate Interpretation Method of Huangfu Jingchen, even if she wouldn’t be with him, she hoped he would be well!
