The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 617: Chapter 616: A Dreamlike Slumber

The Sweeping Monk said, ”You are mistaken, I am just an ordinary monk!”

Xia Wenjin nodded and said, ”The names of the Three Great Monks of Bodhi are widely known: one is the Abbott, another is the Chief, and the other is simply an ordinary monk! The master is this ordinary monk! Back then, the Sweeping Monk emerged from nowhere, turning the tide, ensuring Bodhi Temple’s reputation did not diminish. If I pass by the master and do not recognize him, that would be truly leaving a treasure mountain empty-handed!”

The Sweeping Monk clasped his hands in greeting to Xia Wenjin and said, ”Mr. Xia bears much virtue, I should not be neglectful. Kong Chan extends his courtesy!”

Now it was Xia Wenjin’s turn to be surprised: ”You know my surname is Xia, master?”

Kong Chan smiled slightly, ”Not long ago, a Mr. Xia came to inquire about his daughter’s premature fate; his words matched what your face reveals, so I guessed you might be Mr. Xia’s daughter!”

Xia Wenjin didn’t expect that her father had also come to Bodhi Temple, worrying about her premature destiny, her father was truly anxious about her fate.

Unfortunately, the solution her father proposed, she could not agree with.

Kong Chan led Xia Wenjin to a Zen Room, spacious and tranquil, with the aroma of tea lingering. Kong Chan gestured for Xia Wenjin to sit down and poured her a cup of Zen tea before asking, ”Is the benefactor here to ask how to break the calamity within your fate?”

Xia Wenjin remembered a matter, her father approached Master Kong Chan because to dissuade her father from insisting on marrying her to Huangfu Yuxuan, she used Mo Qingfeng’s fake Kong Chan words as a shield, but her father took it seriously and came to inquire with Kong Chan.

Those words of Mo Qingfeng were exposed, weren’t they?

She laughed awkwardly and said, ”Master, if my father was inappropriate with his words on his visit, I apologize on his behalf!”

Kong Chan chuckled knowingly, ”I was immersed in the temple, unaware that there was another Kong Chan in the Jianghu. Your father was not inappropriate with his words, as he was unaware of there being two Kong Chan monks!”

This was said rather ambiguously; a layperson would find it hard to understand, but upon hearing it, Xia Wenjin immediately understood that Master Kong Chan knew about Mo Qingfeng impersonating him, yet he acknowledged it.

Xia Wenjin said, ”Master, please don’t blame him; my friend impersonated you disrespectfully, I apologize on his behalf!”

Kong Chan shook his head with a smile, ”All things in the world have causal reasons, why apologize? Besides, on that day, I calculated your parent’s provided birthdate data, that person’s words weren’t incorrect. Meeting you today, I realized that person is from the same lineage; trivial matters need not concern you!”

From the same lineage?

With Kong Chan’s acknowledgment, Xia Wenjin felt assured.

She asked, ”Master, does same lineage refer to Ancestor Xu Yun’s Stargazing Method from Bodhi Temple?”

Kong Chan nodded with a smile.

Xia Wenjin hurriedly inquired, ”How many layers have you mastered, Master?”

Kong Chan unexpectedly said, ”The benefactor is well-versed in the Stargazing Method?”

Xia Wenjin replied, ”I’m not familiar, but the person from your lineage only reached the Third Layer, unable to see through many matters; therefore, I came to seek clarity from the master!”

Kong Chan said, ”I see! Your calamities have passed, no major concerns should arise in the years to come, so no need for worry!”

Xia Wenjin hesitated and said, ”I’m not asking for myself, I am seeking answers for someone else!”

Kong Chan smiled slightly, ”You meeting me at the mountain gate was a predestined fate! But the old monk is not omniscient!”

Naturally, Xia Wenjin knew that her visit today was more of a test, Bodhi Temple’s monks are human, not gods, even Ancestor Xu Yun would be unlikely to know everything. She said, ”Master, I understand, I’m merely inquiring about my friend; her fate is nine deaths and one life, could the master possibly have a solution to such a destiny?”

Kong Chan was taken aback, then shook his head, ”Such a destiny cannot be altered by human efforts! The heavenly order has determinations, everything must follow fate!”

Xia Wenjin felt some disappointment, but mostly concern, ”Master, is there really no way?”

Kong Chan shook his head and said, ”Fortune or misfortune is all predestined; human power cannot change it! If there is any possibility, it depends on the person’s resolute intention and deep blessings!”

He looked at Xia Wenjin, smiled lightly, and said, ”Benefactor, you seem troubled by love, confused by it, yet for the word ’love,’ you now seek a path, don’t you?”

Xia Wenjin said, ”Why does the master say so?”

Kong Chan glanced at her and said, ”Your friend having reached the Third Layer of the Stargazing Method should be able to see your Taohua Palace has split into two paths!”

Xia Wenjin felt Mo Qingfeng had some skill, though with a disheveled appearance, his words surprisingly coincided with what Kong Chan said; maybe this shared competency was present in their stargazing lineage.

Xia Wenjin wanted to see the similarities and differences in Kong Chan’s and Mo Qingfeng’s words; hence she asked, ”The normal path should be one, right? What’s implied by splitting into two paths?”

Kong Chan chuckled, ”All predetermined, there’s no implication.”

Xia Wenjin further asked, ”Then which path should I choose?”

Kong Chan continued to smile and shook his head, ”That depends on you!”

Summer Xia Wenjin wanted to ask more, but Kong Chan said, ”I know the benefactor has many questions in her heart, yet I am unable to answer. Everyone faces numerous choices, these choices truly affect fate, yet these choices usually conform to one’s inner heart, outsiders cannot explain or resolve them!”

Xia Wenjin asked, ”Are there any omens?”

Kong Chan laughed, ”When falseness becomes reality, true can appear false; if danger presents luck, luck can evade danger! Blessings lean on misfortune, misfortune on blessings!”

Xia Wenjin felt this was less clear than Mo Qingfeng’s explanation.

She vaguely guessed that Taohua Palace referred to her marriage, two paths likely representing one corresponding to the person her father wanted her to marry and another corresponding to the one she had emotionally chosen.

Mo Qingfeng said one lucky, one dangerous, Xia Wenjin felt the lucky one should be the individual in her heart, the dangerous one naturally being Huanfu Yuxuan.

After all, last life marrying Huanfu Yuxuan, didn’t she die at twenty-four?

Yet the person in her heart should naturally be the lucky one.

But she slightly furrowed her brows, where is the luck?

If she wanted to protect her family from being swept into the royal power vortex without remains, she had to distance herself from the Imperial Family, distance herself from the Huangfu family.

But Huangfu Jingchen...

He was a legit direct imperial grandson.

So, Mo Qingfeng’s mentioning of the luck path being cut off should imply this intention!

The sound of tea pouring brought Xia Wenjin’s thoughts back, she looked up to see Kong Chan had refilled her tea cup; the tea fragrance was refreshing, clearing her mind.

Kong Chan smiled and said, ”Benefactor, life is an impermanent dream, upon waking, has anything been gained?”
