The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 651: Chapter 650: Dereliction of Duty

Geng Shuang was repeatedly rebuffed by her, and at first, he wanted to maintain his refined gentleman persona, but now he couldn’t hold it anymore.

His face darkened, stepping forward with a fierce gaze, he coldly said, ”This is a grand event hosted by the Seventeenth Princess, not just anyone can come here. I suspect you haven’t even received an invitation and sneaked in. Where is your invitation? Show it to me, or else I’ll make sure you regret it!”

Geng Shuang was very sure he had never seen Xia Wenjin before, which meant this girl couldn’t be the young lady of any prominent family in the Capital City.

After all, those young ladies more or less would go out and attend some gatherings, and Geng Shuang, a person who loves to follow the trends of elegance, attended every gathering. Even if he wasn’t familiar with each young lady, he would at least have some impression of them from afar.

But this girl, he was certain and sure, even if he saw her from a distance, he would not forget her.

Since he didn’t recognize her, she was obviously not a prominent young lady. Additionally, riding such a simple carriage showed she wasn’t an important person, and her outstanding looks suggested she might be an actor hired by the Seventeenth Princess for entertainment.

Such people would not have an invitation, so if he dealt with her privately, the Seventeenth Princess would not mind such a trivial matter.

Even if she had an invitation, if she dared to take it out, he would seize the opportunity to destroy it.

He was standing up for Miss Xu and Miss Luo, who would definitely support him, so even if that girl complained to someone, no one would believe her.

To offend him, one must be prepared to bear the consequences!

Xia Wenjin laughed, she glanced at Geng Shuang with a look of disdain and said, ”Who are you to check my invitation?”

Nanny Zhou calmly said, ”Young master, my young lady is young and new to the Capital City. Madam asked her to come and meet some young female friends. If there is any offense, please bear with us!”

Nanny Zhou was very composed, faintly exuding the aura of a nanny who had seen grand occasions, but Geng Shuang didn’t take it to heart.

He didn’t recognize Nanny Zhou, nor did Nanny Zhou recognize him, but Nanny Zhou had heard of General Geng, a third-rank Imperial Army General. Of course, her master was not afraid, but if this matter got out of hand, it would affect her young lady’s reputation.

Geng Shuang didn’t even glance at Nanny Zhou. He disdained speaking more with a servant, even though Nanny Zhou’s words implied several messages. New to the Capital City, unaware of the rules, could be the daughter of an official without even a rank, daring to offend him?

He pointed at Xia Wenjin: ”Either show your invitation or apologize to the two ladies. Otherwise, don’t think about leaving!”

Looking at his swaggering, arrogant demeanor, Xia Wenjin suddenly laughed, a smile as beautiful as blooming spring flowers, captivating.

The stunning smile dazzled Geng Shuang, causing the harsh words in his mouth to be swallowed back. He heard Xia Wenjin’s calm voice say, ”Mr. Geng, who gave you the courage to act like the master at a party hosted by the Seventeenth Princess?”

Geng Shuang was stunned, then dazed, quickly saying, ”Nonsense, when did I act like the master?” He couldn’t dare respond to that.

This damned girl was setting him up!

Xia Wenjin’s face darkened, her voice carrying a cold and oppressive tone: ”If you are not acting like the master, how dare you condescend because my carriage is simple? If you are not acting like the master, how dare you check my invitation? If not acting like the master, how dare you be so arrogant?”

Her pace of speech was not fast, but it was chill and icy, like snowflakes hitting the water, clear and cold, each word distinct.

Especially when her gaze swept over, Geng Shuang felt a sort of pressure, like the pressure from someone of higher status!

But wasn’t she just a little girl?

In his moment of distraction, Xia Wenjin glanced at Luo and Xu, who had just been watching the scene with schadenfreude, eyes full of mockery, happily watching the show. But after they had a fall and got back up, they were left only with resentment.

But after all, they were prominent young ladies. While they felt resentful, they didn’t show it clearly on their faces, only casting a pitiful glance at Geng Shuang from time to time, with tears glistening in their eyes.

Geng Shuang was almost drenched in sweat from Xia Wenjin’s words, but a glance from these two made him feel tall and mighty again.

However, he was not too stupid; he knew that no matter how much higher his status might be compared to the girl, he couldn’t fall into that setup of acting like the master. He took another step forward, pointing at Xia Wenjin, and said, ”Stop throwing dirt on me, these little tricks are just leftovers from my games. You dared to offend me; you have to make amends no matter where. Moreover, the two ladies are most noble, not someone you can offend. Asking you to apologize is already being lenient. What more do you want?”

Xia Wenjin said calmly, ”I want nothing! However, I never apologize for something I didn’t do wrong! Move aside!”

Pointing at someone was extremely rude, and Xia Wenjin’s gaze turned cold, but she hadn’t acted yet.

Geng Shuang was infuriated by her indifferent look and shouted angrily, ”You don’t know what’s good for you!” As he said this, he raised his hand, intending to hit her.

Nanny Zhou hurriedly stepped forward to stop him.

But just as she moved, Geng Shuang suddenly flew out.

He bent over, clutching his belly, sliding a long way like a giant shrimp, changing Luo and Xu’s faces dramatically. They had been watching, but didn’t know why Geng Shuang suddenly flew.

Nanny Zhou was also stunned. She would not let her young lady suffer, but Geng Shuang’s hand was still half-foot away from her girl, yet he flew?

She glanced around and as her gaze fell, she noticed Xia Wenjin’s skirt fluttered slightly.

Her mouth couldn’t help but twitch. How could she forget her own young lady was from Jianghu, with their Third Young Master being a big village chief in Jianghu, skilled in martial arts, with excellent skills? The young lady certainly knew martial arts too.

Thinking of this, her mouth twitched again. What’s happening? Madam sent the young lady to mingle with these young noblewomen to gradually integrate her into this circle, but she just arrived and hasn’t even reached the main venue, Yanxia Pavilion, yet this happens.

Originally, she was sent by Madam to advise the young lady, so she wouldn’t be embarrassed or gauche at such events. Does this count as failing in her duties now?

Geng Shuang was both hurt and humiliated, but more importantly, shocked, as his eyes widened.

Although he usually portrayed a refined young gentleman, an admirer of elegance, he still came from a Military General Family, urged by his father to practice martial arts from a young age. Although he didn’t excel, he still had some skills.

But just now, he suddenly felt a kick to his stomach, and before he could react, he flew out.
