The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 610: Chapter 609: Zhai Hao the Clown

Zhai Hao jumped around like a clown, not daring to step forward himself, and shouted at the coachman, ”Get him! Beat the coachman to death, drag the girl onto my carriage!”

The coachman, with a fierce look in his eyes, waved his hand, and six men rushed forward, surrounding the small carriage. Behind the luxurious carriage was another carriage, less ostentatious but quite large. Apparently, they were the guards of the Marquis Anping Mansion, hired by Zhai Hao.

However, it was evident that even these guards had differing statuses. Four looked like regular servants, while the other two, one dressed in gray and the other in ochre, carried themselves with more arrogance.

The onlookers couldn’t help but step back a bit. This was a narrow mountain road, and if a fight broke out and someone got knocked over, they could tumble down the mountain. No one wanted to jeopardize their lives just to watch a spectacle.

The marquis’s coachman ordered, ”The young master has spoken: beat the coachman to death and drag the young lady to serve the young master!”

These words were not just arrogant, but lawless.

Xia Wenjin knew that some wastrels in the Capital City abused their family’s position to bully others and commit all sorts of misdeeds. But this was on the road to the Bodhi Temple, and he dared to act like this.

Still, she quickly understood. Although many carriages were blocked, besides those ahead having already moved on a distance, those blocked behind clearly belonged to families of lesser status compared to the Marquis Mansion.

Even among the onlookers, some were eager to watch her misfortune.

Most likely, these people recognized Zhai Hao, and some might even have ties with the Marquis Anping Mansion, which is why they stood aside, smiling at the supposed entertainment.

Perhaps in their eyes, even if Xia Wenjin was dragged into the carriage and bullied, it would still be considered normal.

Despite her clothes being not shabby, Xia Wenjin’s appearance was extraordinarily beautiful, but her carriage was so plain that it was utterly looked down upon.

A girl with no status or background would have been safer being ordinary and plain, but looking like this, she was destined to stand out. Like now, being noticed by the young noble of the Marquis Anping Mansion.

Of course, they didn’t pity or worry for Xia Wenjin. In their eyes, it was her fortune. As for being bullied? That was considered an honor.

Xia Wenjin glanced once and saw through the intentions in their eyes. Especially when she overheard a quiet murmur: ”Choosing today to wait here, isn’t it just to get noticed by the rich and powerful? Making such a fuss to block the road, truly disgusting!”

The speaker was in the third carriage behind them. The curtain lifted, revealing a woman’s face—pale and thin, with sharp and mean eyes, her downward-turned lips showing a disdainful smile.

Her voice wasn’t loud, yet many heard, and Zhai Hao even cast a smile at the woman.

This smile caused the woman to pause, followed by a blush on her face.

Xia Wenjin let out a cold laugh, ”The vulgar see others as just as vulgar as themselves, truly ridiculous!”

As she spoke, she was addressing the woman in the carriage. Although flattered by Zhai Hao’s smile, appearing shy and affecting gentleness, Xia Wenjin’s words made her furious, causing her to spit in reply, ”Am I wrong? I’ve seen plenty like you. Isn’t your goal to marry into a wealthy family as a concubine? Yet you act all defiant, absurd!”

She fussed over Zhai Hao with all sorts of shy gestures, yet toward Xia Wenjin, she was sharp and acerbic. Her eyes were filled with deep envy and jealousy.

Indeed, Xia Wenjin’s looks did incite plenty of envy.

However, there was a clear aura about Xia Wenjin’s brow, a clean, straightforward gaze, while the other woman seemed scheming.

Xia Wenjin was disgusted, thinking that even if the woman wished to curry favor with Zhai Hao, there was no need to warp truths. But clowns like her weren’t worth the time. The one deserving of a lesson was the arrogant and malicious Zhai Hao.

Meanwhile, the Marquis Mansion’s guards had surrounded the carriage, impenetrably.

Old Liang tilted his head, addressing Xia Wenjin inside the carriage, ”Miss, may I take action?”

Xia Wenjin replied coolly, ”Don’t kill anyone!”

Old Liang was thrilled. In the Capital City, he had been cautious at every step, fearing his actions would bring trouble to the organization. But this time, the sharp-tongued brat overstepped, intending harm towards the young Miss and hurling insults. He couldn’t endure it. With the young Miss’s permission, he could finally stretch his limbs.

He leaped down from the carriage with nimble movement, landing solidly like a mountain.

Immediately, he engaged in combat with the four servant-guards of the Marquis Mansion.

To show themselves off, the four guards drew their ice weapons, rushing towards Old Liang.

Just having heard Old Liang address Xia Wenjin as ’Miss’, the sharp-tongued woman snorted sarcastically.

What a joke! Now anyone could be called ’Miss’? Could such a poor, low-class brat even compare?

She not only laughed aloud but uttered those words as well.

Expectedly, her words were met with approving laughter.

Those people clearly knew Zhai Hao was no good. Every woman he set his sights on would surely suffer. Yet none stepped forth for justice, instead they watched, some even smiling fawningly.

Their laughter was loud, echoing the sharp-tongued woman’s merciless ridicule.

As if by raising their voices, they would curry favor with the Marquis Anping Mansion and benefit from Zhai Hao.

Xia Wenjin was used to such behavior of trampling the weak and flattering the strong.

These people assumed Xia Wenjin was a girl with no background, while behind Zhai Hao stood the Marquis Anping Mansion, and he was the young master there.

Of course they would ingratiate themselves with the young master of the Marquis Mansion, caring nothing for the truth or who was being bullied.

At this moment, Old Liang had already shown his strength.

Despite fighting alone against four, Old Liang was fierce, his fists and feet moving like the wind, causing these knife- and sword-wielding men to wail for their mothers.

Yet this matter wasn’t over, as with the servants beaten, anger surged on the faces of the proud gray-clothed man and ochre-clothed man who had been merely watching from the side.

The gray-clothed man said coldly, ”No wonder you dare be rude to my young master, you have some skill.”

Zhai Hao shouted, ”Old Zhao, Old Qian, kill him, and I will give each of you a hundred taels.”

Even without this promise, those two would have acted against Old Liang. Now their eyes gleamed even more, closing in on Old Liang from both sides.

Xia Wenjin reminded, ”Uncle Liang, be careful!”
