The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 603: Chapter 602: The Edge of the Whirlpool

Xia Wenjin closed her eyes, suppressing her restless heart, and slowly said, ”So you are Prince Cheng’s Heir?”

Jingchen! Prince Jing?

So, his name is not Huang Zheng, but Huangfu Jingchen!

She remembered, when she was surrounded by a group of assassins in a certain place in Jinzhou, those people called out, wasn’t it ”Prince Jing”?

At that time, she was wearing Huangfu Jingchen’s clothes and riding Huangfu Jingchen’s horse, so those killers mistook her for him.

But, because she didn’t know there was a Prince Jing in this world, she was suspicious but never thought about him.

In hindsight, it really is a joke!

Seeing the changing expressions on Xia Wenjin’s face, Huangfu Jingchen was filled with unease.

He deeply regretted not telling Wenjin the truth earlier.

Because of his gains and losses, because of his fear, he deceived himself into thinking he could hide it a little longer, but in the end, Huangfu Yuxuan exposed him.

He regretted not listening to his father, who said, if he didn’t tell, was he going to wait for her to find out by herself?

Knowing that letting her find out on her own would be a consequence he couldn’t bear, then why did he cling to such a faint hope?

Because he cared too much, he was too cowardly.

But because he was too cowardly, it made things irreparable?

Wenjin’s complexion was very poor, and at this moment, Huangfu Jingchen had no other thoughts; he said weakly, ”Yes, yes!”

Xia Wenjin chuckled lightly.

Huangfu Jingchen looked up at Xia Wenjin, his heart settled a bit; Wenjin wasn’t angry, did that mean she could forgive him? With a look of plea in his eyes, he said softly, ”Wenjin, it was my fault for not making it clear to you. That day, I was going to tell you, but your attitude was so firm, I didn’t dare. Wenjin, can you forgive me? I... I didn’t do it on purpose!”

Xia Wenjin shook her head with a smile, then looked at Huangfu Jingchen with eyes clear and calm as still water, and said, ”Prince Jing, you don’t have to do that. What does it matter if it was intentional or not? You’re right, if I had known you were the Imperial Grandson earlier, I would’ve just stayed far away from you. Now, don’t we still have those memories of over a year? Thinking about it, they were quite beautiful too!”

”Wenjin, you, you’re not angry at me? I, I don’t want this identity as some heir; if I could, I’d rather be an ordinary person!” Huangfu Jingchen’s heart was uneasy; Wenjin calling him ”Prince Jing” had a formality that made him very uncomfortable!

Xia Wenjin laughed, ”Prince Jing is joking, why would I be angry? Isn’t everyone’s birth predetermined? So many people dream of a status like yours, but they don’t have your luck!”

Huangfu Jingchen wasn’t comforted by these words. Moreover, Xia Wenjin was clearly smiling, but he didn’t feel any of the previous closeness when they were together, with her smiles and laughter.

That smile kept people at a distance, cold and estranged, giving the feeling she was right in front of him but her heart seemed far away.

He said anxiously, ”Wenjin, no matter what my identity is, my heart for you is true; I never meant to deceive you at all, my heart has you, and only you, absolutely! Wenjin, don’t be like this; when you are like this, I... I feel so sad!”

Xia Wenjin shook her head with a soft smile and said, ”Prince Jing, you’re exaggerating. I’m just a common woman from Jianghu, not worthy of your noble status, I am self-aware, so I think we should just go our separate ways!”

Ever since Huangfu Jingchen admitted his identity, Xia Wenjin had been smiling.

But her heart was cold to the bone.

In the midst of chaos, she felt even colder, as if she had fallen into an ice cellar.

Imperial Grandson, Huang Zheng, his real name is Huangfu Jingchen, he is the Imperial Grandson!

Is she destined to always be tied to the Imperial Family?

No, she cannot.

She only wanted to live a simple and peaceful life and wanted Haotian Village to stay far away from the Court, not to be dragged into the whirlpool of political struggle because of her, to avoid being used and harmed.

She had tried so hard; why did fate still have to make such a joke with her?

Why can’t she escape?

The moment she lived again, she decided not to be moved, not to fall into the whirlpool of emotions again.

But, she failed to do so.

She still had her heart moved.

The innocent and pure-hearted young man stepped into her heart step by step.

That boy, so beautifully spirited, with a chest full of righteousness and kind-heartedness, but why does he have such an identity?

It’s not that she’s pretentious, not that she can’t see Huangfu Jingchen’s worry and pain, but what of it?

Her whole life, she doesn’t live for herself.

She’s let go of her hatred, doesn’t want to pick it up again, because she wants her father, brothers, and uncles to be safe. She wants to live freely and unencumbered, without schemes, without being involuntarily dragged into an unwanted whirlpool!

But now, she finds that all her efforts seem like a joke.

She’s still at the edge of the whirlpool.

Her mind was in chaos, like a tangled mess, painful, helpless, restless, and suffocating. More than anything, it was fear, it was evasion, it was the desire to flee far away!

She stood up and said, ”Prince Jing, I have something to do, I’ll leave first!”

With that, she stood up and walked out.

Huangfu Jingchen hurriedly chased after her, calling out, ”Wenjin, Wenjin!”

But though he was only two steps behind Wenjin, by the time he got out the door, Xia Wenjin was already gone.

He knew it was because Xia Wenjin didn’t want to see him, so she avoided him.

Huangfu Jingchen grew anxious; he had a very bad feeling, as if he had lost something very important. He didn’t care about disturbing guests and started opening the doors of various private rooms to search, attracting waves of scolding and complaints.

But even after searching all the private rooms on the second floor, he couldn’t find any trace of Xia Wenjin!

He knew Wenjin hated people from the Imperial Family so much, and yet he deceived her. Wenjin wouldn’t forgive his deception, so she didn’t want to see him!

He anxiously shouted, ”Wenjin, Wenjin, where are you? I didn’t want to lie to you, listen to my explanation...”

This shouting attracted strange looks from the tavern guests, some mocking, some observing, some pointing...

But how could Huangfu Jingchen care about any of that?

He lost Wenjin!

The Wenjin he treasured and loved the most, the person he never wanted to hurt, yet he had hurt her...

His commotion was disturbing the other guests of the tavern, so the shopkeeper quickly approached, and Huangfu Jingchen grabbed him, ”Shopkeeper, did you see the young lady who was with me? Where... where did she go?”

The shopkeeper said, ”Young master, young master, you can’t do this, you’re scaring the guests. The person you’re looking for has already left.”
