The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Immediately, everyone’s gaze turned to Jiang An.

It is known that in everyone’s mind, being appointed as the executive deputy leader in the task force is not for just anybody.

Especially when the previous six task forces didn’t uncover any suspicious traces, the establishment of the seventh means that being the deputy leader is truly exceptional.

At this moment, Jiang An appeared calm, and he started to speak: ”Regarding this case, the first thing I want to discuss is the matter of body disposal.”

”In this case, we found that the body parts were in a very concentrated area. So, where did the other body parts go?”

After saying this, he looked towards the projector photos.

”What was the reason the killer chose this depression to dispose of the body?”

”I believe that everyone here has already thoroughly discussed this topic previously.”

”And since the other body parts have not been found, I think there are merely two reasons for this.

”The first reason is that the victim’s head and perineal area were intentionally hidden by the perpetrator as trophies, stored somewhere for a long period of memorialization.”

”I once encountered a murderer who, after killing, often viewed his ’prizes’ from the murder, recalling the killing process time and again.

”The second reason is that other body parts might have been carried away by animals to other locations.”

”In this mountain area, beyond the valleys visible to us, the continuous peaks could easily serve as animal habitats.”

”However, preliminary searches within several kilometers with meticulous surveying and police dogs have yielded no skull or body parts.”

”Therefore, considering the above situations, I believe we cannot rule out the killer hiding body parts as trophies somewhere.”

Upon hearing this hypothesis, the veteran officers exchanged glances, showing confused expressions.

It is known that they had considered this possibility before, but the key trace evidence was never found.

Such theoretical case analysis has limited significance for the investigation and problem-solving process.

It is known that those present are practitioners, many of whom are seasoned detective officers.

However, compared to the impatience shown by the veteran detective officers, Director Hou, Qin Feng, and Deputy Director Chen Guan picked up pens to start taking notes.

They were familiar with Jiang An, whose case-solving ability and thought process were undoubtedly reliable.

Then, Jiang An continued: ”So, when we seek a breakthrough in solving a case, we usually focus intently on the victim, combining the victim’s identity with their social relationships, then using contradictions in those relationships to make a breakthrough.”

”However, since this case has gone through six rounds of investigation with no suspicious points found,

I propose that, upon restarting the investigation for the seventh time, we should use another approach, which I believe is investigating based on the characteristics of the suspect.”

Hearing this, the detectives felt confused again, even slightly disdainful.

Without understanding the victim clearly, how could we focus on finding the suspect, isn’t that just building castles in the air?”

Upon this thought, some officers started shaking their heads.

Then, Jiang An further said: ”So, apart from thinking that the perpetrator might use the victim’s head and perineal area as trophies, could there be other possibilities?”

”For example, using the victim’s head or perineal area? These situations have occurred before.”

Upon hearing this, the officers appeared even more bewildered.

Why such a sudden 180-degree turn?

Could a dead person’s head have any use?

”Yes, what’s the use? How can a dead person’s head be useful?”

This possibility seems even less likely than the previous ”trophies.”

...

At this moment, Deputy Director Chen Guan raised his hand to signal, saying: ”Everyone quiet down a bit and let Jiang An continue his analysis.”

Jiang An continued: ”I believe in this case, besides focusing on this single case, shouldn’t we also pay attention to other cases? Is there a transference situation?”

”Transference?”

”What transference?”

At this point, Mr. Qin also turned around, displaying a puzzled expression.

It is known that for him, he has never encountered such transference regarding the victim.

Director Hou and Deputy Director Chen Guan also turned to ask: ”Could it be that the victim’s head and perineal area were used in other circumstances?”

Jiang An nodded and said: ”Normally, in these cases, we think the victim’s head and perineal area are typically useless.

But we must pay special attention to the fact that if the suspect really obtained the victim’s head and perineal area, what is their purpose?

Aside from the conventional thought of a perverted mind, could there be any utilizable value?

If there was utilization, wouldn’t replacing A with B go unnoticed?”

Then, Jiang An supplemented: ”Know that back in the day, DNA technology wasn’t so advanced, finding the victim, we couldn’t perform precise DNA testing.”

With these words, one of the grey-haired officers spoke up: ”That’s not right, back then we performed routine testing and found no problems.”
