The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

At this moment, Director Hou nodded in agreement: ”Mr. Chen is right.”

”Any successful on-site reasoning, in essence, is a process of active thinking to discern, select, and integrate.”

”Only by investigating with a clear awareness of the issues can we find breakthrough clues in seemingly ordinary details.”

”Captain Jiang An has taught us a vivid lesson this time.”

Chen Guan heard this and felt even more moved: ”Remarkable, Director Hou.”

”To be honest, I always thought our Guangling’s criminal investigation capabilities were already quite solid, but since the arrival of the Jiangcheng team, especially after seeing Captain Jiang An’s reasoning performance today, I realized that Guangling’s criminal investigation still has a long way to go.”

”We must continue to strive hard to keep up with the advanced investigative thinking and techniques like those in Jiangcheng.”

Director Hou laughed heartily, his tone carrying a touch of banter and sincerity: ”Mr. Chen, if you wish to follow in the footsteps of Jiangcheng’s criminal investigation, you need to set this goal realistically.”

”To be honest, their current case-solving level has left not just the municipal level, but even the provincial department far behind—they’ve long been the benchmark of the province’s criminal investigation system, standing securely at the forefront.”

”If you ask me, instead of fixating on Jiangcheng, you might as well first look at other places, and take it step by step.”

Chen Guan listened and wasn’t angry. Instead, he nodded repeatedly, his face brimming with smiles: ”Director Hou is absolutely right! Jiangcheng’s criminal investigation is indeed impressive; they’ve even left the provincial department behind.”

”I think next time, we’ll simply have to chase desperately from behind, and earnestly learn—it seems we ought to ’worship’ them!”

As the words fell, the two laughed together.

Jiang An, sitting nearby, also smiled along, and humbly took over the conversation: ”You two are too kind. There is still much for us in Jiangcheng to learn.”

”Case-solving relies not only on ability; sometimes it also depends on a bit of luck.”

”The smooth resolution of this case also involved an element of luck.”

.......

As the case officially concluded, everyone felt at ease.

Chen Guan did not delay and immediately convened with the petition department and other relevant business departments to jointly discuss the follow-up handling of the case.

He attached great importance to the upcoming press conference—not only informing the family and relevant departments but also taking the initiative to invite multiple media reporters to attend.

It should be noted that this case had been widely reported by the media in its early stages, even once questioning Guangling’s criminal investigation capability.

Now that the truth had come to light, it was the perfect time to clarify publicly, and restore the image.

At three in the afternoon, the meeting hall of the Public Security Bureau was already packed.

On stage sat Chen Guan, Qin Feng, Director Hou, and others, while below were various media reporters and family representatives, the atmosphere was solemn with a hint of tension.

The meeting commenced, and Chen Guan, slightly emotional, said in a loud voice: ”Dear media friends, dear families, regarding the case of Li Yong’s death, after our repeated in-depth investigations and analyses, we finally have a clear conclusion today.”

”Here, I inform everyone about the preliminary situation: Through continuous investigations and technical examinations these days, it is now clear that Li Yong did not die of illness but was hanged—and it was under the influence of another person.”

As soon as these words were uttered, the room was in an uproar.

Many people looked at each other, whispering: ”What happened? Didn’t it initially say it was from illness?”

”How did it become hanging? And by someone else?”

”The conclusion is quite different...”

Not only were the media reporters surprised, but even the family members present showed signs of amazement.

Initially, their questioning of the cause of death was more for work-related compensation and did not genuinely anticipate it being murder.

Now hearing this conclusion, they were both shocked and bewildered.

At this time, a reporter raised a hand to ask a question: ”Mr. Chen, is this conclusion final? Will there be any changes?”

Chen Guan solemnly answered: ”This is the final conclusion.”

”Moreover, this conclusion was not made independently by the Guangling City Criminal Investigation Team but confirmed after repeated reviews and joint research by the provincial department’s special task force.”

As he spoke, he gestured to Director Hou and Jiang An beside him: ”These two are core members of the provincial special task force—this is Director Hou from the provincial investigation department, and the other is Jiang An, captain of Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation Team.”

”Both are experts and backbones in the field of criminal investigation, with their participation and confirmation, this conclusion is fully authoritative and reliable, please rest assured.”

Another reporter immediately followed up: ”So, has the perpetrator been apprehended? What is the progress of the case at present?”

Chen Guan nodded, his expression serious: ”The suspect was successfully arrested days ago, and has confessed to the crime of killing Li Yong without reservation.”

”The case is currently being transferred to the procuratorial agency and is preparing to enter the next stage of the judicial trial process.”

Just as he finished speaking, a media reporter sitting in the front row raised a hand, then stood up, and asked: ”Mr. Chen, hello.”

”It is understood that this case occurred six months ago. At that time, after the incident, the Guangling City Public Security Bureau must have swiftly organized elite forces to conduct the investigation and reached an initial conclusion.”

”However, today, we see a substantial, indeed a fundamental change, compared to the initial conclusion.”

”This inevitably raises questions: In the past six months, what crucial factors led to the shift in conclusions?”

”Was new evidence previously overlooked discovered, or was there a significant shift in the investigation direction?”
