The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 597: Chapter 334: Jiangcheng’s Most Beautiful Police Officer!

As soon as Zhang Chao, the instructor of the Criminal Investigation Team, entered the office, the desk phone rang.

He put down the thermal cup in his hand and picked up the phone, hearing the cheerful voice of Mr. Wang from the city bureau’s office: ”Hey, congratulations!”

”What’s the good news?”

While organizing the documents on the desk, Zhang Chao casually asked.

”Your Criminal Investigation Team’s Deputy Captain, Jiang An, has won first place in the ’Jiangcheng’s Most Beautiful New Police’ selection!”

Mr. Wang’s voice was filled with irrepressible excitement, ”And the votes were far ahead, several times more than the second place!”

”First place?”

The documents Zhang Chao held fell onto the desk with a snap; he incredulously tightened his grip on the receiver, ”Is this... this news confirmed?”

”Absolutely true!”

Mr. Wang affirmed, ”According to the rules of the selection, the statistics were finalized promptly at 8 AM today.”

”Now the votes for the top three are locked in, and Comrade Jiang An holds a solid lead at the top with absolute advantage.”

Zhang Chao worked hard to calm his excited mood: ”That’s wonderful! This is truly excellent news; I’ll report to Mr. Li right away.”

”By the way!” Mr. Wang added, ”According to arrangements, there might be an award ceremony this afternoon, so please inform Captain Jiang to prepare and pay attention to his attire.”

”Understood!”

Zhang Chao’s voice instinctively raised by eight octaves, ”This selection truly showcases the very best of Jiangcheng’s Criminal Investigation!”

Two minutes later, he quickly approached Mr. Li’s office, coincidentally meeting Mr. Li and Mr. Ma who had just finished a morning meeting and were conversing at the door.

”More good news?”

Mr. Li saw the unconcealable smile on Zhang Chao’s face and immediately guessed a bit.

”Extraordinary good news!”

Zhang Chao said excitedly, ”Jiang An not only received first place in the ’Most Beautiful New Police’ selection, but his votes were exactly three times that of the second place!”

Upon hearing this astonishing news, Mr. Li and Mr. Ma were stunned and momentarily speechless.

It’s known that in previous evaluation competitions, the gap between first and second place was typically very small; a gap of several multiples was extraordinarily rare.

”Good! Good! This is truly incredible!”

Mr. Li, recovering from the shock, praised repeatedly with a proud smile on his face, ”Our Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation really gets to hold its head high this time!”

The two immediately decided to personally bring the good news to Jiang An.

When they opened Jiang An’s office door, the young deputy captain was intently wiping his desk.

”Captain Jiang, congratulations, you’ve really done us proud again!”

Mr. Li said with a smile.

Jiang An looked up, puzzled: ”Captain, what do you mean by that?”

”You don’t know yet?”

Zhang Chao interjected, ”You took first place in the ’Jiangcheng’s Most Beautiful New Police’, with your votes far ahead of second place by several streets!”

Upon hearing this, Jiang An merely smiled faintly.

His senior sister had already hinted at the news, but he cautiously said, ”Captain, this kind of selection shouldn’t be solely based on votes, right?”

”Voting accounts for 90%, leadership evaluation for 10%.”

Mr. Li explained, ”However, you’ve solved multiple major cases in succession, plus your outstanding performance at yesterday’s press conference, the remaining 10% is definitely not a problem.”

”The award ceremony is in the afternoon, located at the city cultural center, you better prepare well.”

Jiang An humbly shook his head, ”If I fall out of the top three at the last minute, wouldn’t I just be a supporting act?”

”Supporting act?”

Zhang Chao laughed cheerfully, ”We’d like to see who can surpass our Captain Jiang!”

At two in the afternoon, Zhang Chao received another phone call.

”Captain Jiang not only took first place, but the evaluation score given by city leaders set a new record high!”

”Thanks to the city bureau for giving our Criminal Investigation Team this opportunity!”

Zhang Chao couldn’t hide his joy, ”When exactly does the award ceremony start? How many people need to attend?”

”Starts at three o’clock sharp.”

”You decide the number of attendees, individuals can attend alone or as a group.”

”Then we’ll all go as a team!”

Zhang Chao said decisively, ”Such a glorious moment, everyone must witness it!”

At precisely 3 PM, Jiangcheng City Cultural Hall Conference Room.

The left back area was neatly seated with a row of police officers in dark blue uniforms, who were the entire Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation Team.

At this moment, every face was filled with anticipation and pride, as today they would witness Captain Jiang An’s glorious moment in the ’Most Beautiful Police’ selection.

Amidst enthusiastic applause, the host walked to the center of the stage.

”Respected leaders, guests, dear colleagues in the police force, good afternoon everyone!”

”Today we gather together to grandly hold the award ceremony for Jiangcheng City Public Security System’s ’Most Beautiful Police’ selection event.”

”After strict selection through online voting, unit recommendations, and expert reviews, we’ve selected the top ten outstanding police officers from thousands across the city.”

The host paused slightly, then continued after looking around: ”According to selection rules, the top three will be awarded individual third-class merits, and the fourth to tenth place will receive personal commendations.”

”Now, I announce the winners of the top three in this selection: First place, Captain Jiang An of Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation Team, total score of 99.5; Second place, Li Qin from the Traffic Police Brigade, total score of 83.1; Third place, Zhang Biao from the Security Team, 75.7.”

With those words, the Criminal Investigation Team members collectively turned their gaze to Captain Jiang sitting in the front row.

”99.5? That’s so exaggerated!”

Wan couldn’t help but exclaim softly.

The venue erupted with discussions: ”Oh my, this is a record-breaking high score!”

”You must know the ’Most Beautiful Police’ selection has been held for eight rounds in Jiangcheng, and no previous scores exceeded 90.”

”Who exactly is this Captain Jiang?”

.......

Then, the host announced: ”Now we’re moving to the award presentation segment, please have the ten winning police officers come up to receive their awards.”

Accompanied by a lively march, city leaders stood attentively.

Everyone’s gaze was fixed on the stage entrance.

Leading the way was Jiang An, who looked particularly upright and handsome among the ten awardees.

Under the guidance of the ceremonial lady, the winning police officers stepped onto the stage one by one.

Presenting the award to Jiang An was Mr. Wang, the Deputy Mayor in charge of political and law affairs.

He warmly shook Jiang An’s hand, feeling gratified, ”Young man, remarkable!”

”You are the first in Jiangcheng police history to receive such a high score, we all place high hopes on you.”

Jiang An immediately straightened his posture and solemnly saluted with a standard police salute.

After the award presentation segment, the winners and leaders took photos together, with shutter clicks capturing the glorious moment.

Just when everyone thought the ceremony was about to end, the host suddenly announced: ”Now, we’re adding a temporary segment, inviting our first-place winner, Captain Jiang An, to deliver an acceptance speech.”

Clearly surprised by this arrangement, Jiang An put down his trophy but quickly adjusted, walking confidently to the podium.

As he took the microphone, the once noisy venue instantly quieted down.

Everyone held their breath, eager to hear the thoughts of this record-breaking individual.

”Honorable leaders, dear comrades, media friends, good afternoon everyone!”

Jiang An’s voice was firm and strong, ”Standing here today, I feel immensely honored, yet deeply aware of the heavy responsibility.”

”Since joining the police, I have always remembered the mission ’People’s Police for the People’, considering crime-fighting and safeguarding peace as my lifelong mission.”

At this point, he turned and slightly bowed towards the leaders on the rostrum.

”Here, on behalf of Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation Team, I solemnly pledge to the people of the city: We will continue to carry forward the spirit of the criminal police who are particularly able to endure hardship and fight fiercely.”

”With firmer determination and stronger actions, we contribute our utmost to the peaceful development of Jiangcheng!”

This powerful speech triggered prolonged applause, moving many veteran police officers to tears with excitement.

Before the award ceremony ended, Jiangcheng Daily’s news client had already pushed this news to the top headline position.

The Criminal Investigation Team’s WeChat group buzzed with excitement; although the award went to the captain, everyone shared in the glory.

Back in his office, Jiang An was still filled with emotions.

He gently touched the golden trophy, recalling Deputy Mayor Wang’s eyes filled with expectation, and felt a strong sense of mission arise in his heart.

Just as he was lost in thought, the phone on the desk suddenly rang.

”Hello.”

”Captain Jiang, sorry to disturb you.”

”This is the guard room, a couple says they have an important case and want to see you face-to-face.”

”They said they saw your report and election video, and trust you very much, and have been waiting at the door for an hour.”

”What do you think...”

Before the person on the other end could finish, Jiang An was already standing up: ”I’ll be down right away.”
