The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 576: Chapter 325: Bring Them Back Alive or Dead

After a brief meeting, the entire task force immediately went into operation.

In accordance with the three investigative directions clarified at the meeting, task force members were divided into three groups.

The first group was responsible for thoroughly combing through all the original site materials of the two cases, including scene investigation records and evidence lists.

The second group focused on investigating all social relationships Zhao Jian interacted with before and after working, from relatives and friends to colleagues without missing anyone.

The third group needed to re-examine all investigation dossier materials, searching for potentially overlooked critical details.

After the personnel left, the vast meeting room was left with only Mr. Wang, Mr. Ma, Li Jian, and Jiang An.

The beam of the projector was particularly striking in the slightly dim conference room, with the case summary PPT still displayed on the big screen.

Mr. Wang stared at the case summary on the screen, turning to Mr. Ma and asked, ”Mr. Ma, hasn’t this case been solved yet?”

Mr. Ma nodded solemnly, ”It’s a cold case dragged on for many years.”

”Over the years, we’ve deployed considerable police force but have been unable to achieve breakthrough progress.”

”Is there any new clue now?”

At this point, Li Jian picked up the topic, saying steadily, ”Currently, we have locked down the basic features of the perpetrator, but the specific identity of the suspect has yet to fully surface.”

”However, as Mr. Jiang analyzed earlier, the suspect of these two cases is likely the same person.”

Jiang An nodded slightly, saying slowly, ”In the Zhao Jian family of three murder case, the killer’s methods were exceedingly brutal.”

”From an economic criminology perspective, the killer must have extremely strong criminal motives, with very clear objectives.”

”Especially the dozens of stab wounds on Zhao Jian’s wife.”

”Those varying depths and chaotic stab marks fully demonstrate the killer’s evident intimidation and coercion intent.”

”Therefore, I believe this trait can be used as an important investigative breakthrough.”

”Regarding the connection to the robbery case you mentioned, I think the killer is likely also a participant in the robbery case.”

Mr. Wang’s face changed abruptly upon hearing this, ”Can you be certain of this?”

Jiang An nodded firmly, ”Chief, although Zhao Jian has been killed, judging from his behavioral patterns, he was definitely an important participant in the robbery case.”

”Firstly, the robbery case resulted in a total loss of 2 million, with Zhao Jian personally pocketing 1 million.”

”Such an even split of spoils fits the characteristics of two people working together in the crime.”

”Therefore, I infer that the suspect of the robbery case should also be two people.”

This statement suddenly reminded Mr. Wang of the details of the case back then.

Indeed, during the analysis back then, the task force had proposed that to successfully carry out a cash transport vehicle robbery, at least two to three bandits would be needed to completely control the situation.

If two people were committing the crime, they would definitely carry a weapon with strong intimidation power.

After pondering for a moment, Mr. Wang signaled, ”Mr. Jiang, please continue the analysis.”

Jiang An continued, ”Since the robbery case was committed by two people, the other suspect likely knows the specifics of Zhao Jian’s concealed spoils.”

”From the timeline, the murder occurred shortly after the money was hidden, with only a two to three-month interval.”

”The deceased Zhao Jian had a cautious personality and chose to hide the money in a very covert place - his biological mother’s grave, instead of splurging after the successful robbery.”

”Notably, when hiding the money, he specifically found his cousin as a cover, under the guise of repairing the grave for filial duty.”

”This was obviously a ruse, with the real purpose being to retrieve and use it after the heat died down.”

”Therefore, it can infer that the only one aware of the money is likely the other accomplice in the robbery case.”

”And the murder of Zhao Jian’s family was precisely due to this ill-gotten wealth.”

”Furthermore, analyzing from the Crime Scene, despite Zhao Jian’s wife receiving so many stab wounds, she didn’t reveal the location, suggesting she likely didn’t know about the money.”

Mr. Wang nodded thoughtfully, lightly tapping his finger on the table.

”I’ve also handled a few of these backstabbing cases in the criminal investigation line back in the day.”

”To carry out a betrayal, the premise is to know the other party’s background and understand his ’dark’ spots.”

Jiang An quickly picked up the topic, ”Chief, this case has been pending in our Jiangcheng for over a decade.”

”Through multiple case reviews, dossier combing, and Crime Scene reconstruction, we found a key point.”

”The deceased’s home is located in a remote area, yet the killer could accurately find the location and retreat quickly after committing the crime at night, clearly illustrating the killer’s familiarity with the local environment.”

Mr. Wang nodded thoughtfully, ”In rural areas, the roads are complex. Unless living there long-term, it is difficult to find a specific location at night without getting lost.”

Jiang An continued with the insight, ”Precisely because of this, we judge the killer must be familiar with the deceased.”

”Before you arrived, I have already reported to Mr. Ma and Mr. Li that there is a unique phenomenon at the Crime Scene.”

”There’s no sign of struggle in Zhao Jian’s yard, no bloodstains at the door, all violent acts are concentrated in the living room.”

”The forensic team estimated the time of the crime at the wee hours.”

”Imagine, at that time, all households in the rural area would be asleep.”

”Why would Zhao Jian open the door for the killer?”

”I believe this clearly shows two points: One is that the two knew each other well enough to visit casually.”

”The other is that there must have been an urgent matter that night, and Zhao Jian had a reason he couldn’t refuse to open the door.”
