The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 583: Chapter 328: This Is the Missing Human Tissue!

”Of course, you can take a break!”

Li Jian stared intently into Liu Tie’s eyes, his fingers gently tapping on the table.

”But first, you need to clarify the issues.”

Meanwhile, in the monitoring room next to the interrogation room, Mr. Wang, Mr. Ma, and Jiang An closely watched every move inside the interrogation room through the high-definition surveillance screen.

The three of them collectively held their breath, focusing intently on every subtle expression and movement of Liu Tie.

Mr. Ma suddenly turned to Jiang An, pointing at the corner of Liu Tie’s mouth on the screen, and asked, ”Jiang An, didn’t you say earlier that you felt his mouth injury doesn’t match the scene photos?”

”Indeed!”

Jiang An leaned closer to the screen, analyzing the scars at the corner of Liu Tie’s mouth.

”Mr. Ma, this is a critical point I’ve been pondering.”

”Look, the damage characteristics in this area are quite peculiar.”

”There is a prominent scar at the corner of the mouth, yet the surrounding facial skin is intact.”

”If it were damage caused by glass fragments, when impacting a glass surface, there would definitely be abrasions or bruises left on the cheekbones, nose bridge, and other areas.”

”But none of these marks are visible now.”

Jiang An continued analyzing, ”This injury is too isolated, and its location and shape seem very unnatural.”

Jiang An shook his head slightly, his fingers subconsciously rubbing his chin, ”Based on the current evidence, I think we need to consider other possibilities.”

As he spoke, he quickly took out his phone and dialed a number, ”Zhang Yean, can you please bring a higher resolution DSLR to the interrogation room?”

”I need to take a set of close-up photos of the suspect Liu Tie’s facial injuries, especially the scar on the left corner of the mouth, from various angles with clear images.”

In less than five minutes, Zhang Yean entered the interrogation room with a professional camera.

After obtaining permission, she deftly adjusted the camera settings and snapped over a dozen high-definition photos of Liu Tie’s face, then immediately delivered the memory card to the control room.

Jiang An imported the photos into the computer, enlarging them on the screen.

Mr. Wang and Mr. Ma stood on either side behind him, and the three of them thoroughly studied the close-up photo together.

Jiang An enlarged the image by 400%, pointing to the scar on the left corner of the mouth, ”Look at the distinctive features of this scar.”

”It’s about 1.5 centimeters from the left corner of the mouth, with a regular spindle shape, approximately 0.8 centimeters long, and 0.3 centimeters wide.”

”Most notably, the edges of the scar exhibit an irregular serrated appearance, definitely not a straight-line incision.”

Suddenly, Jiang An leaned forward slightly, his eyes fixed on the screen.

A stunning hypothesis began to take shape in his mind.

This possibility is extremely rare in forensic science, but when it occurs, it has very characteristic traits.

Seeing Jiang An’s expression suddenly change, Mr. Wang couldn’t help but urgently ask, ”Mr. Jiang, what exactly did you find?”

Jiang An took a deep breath, his voice low and firm, ”I suspect... this is very likely a bite mark.”

”A bite mark?”

Mr. Ma was taken aback at first, then couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

”Are you saying he bit his own lip?”

Standing nearby, Zhang Yean also couldn’t help but chuckle, ”Could this be a souvenir from a French kiss?”

”No, this bite mark is very distinct.”

Jiang An solemnly shook his head, gesturing with his finger on the screen, ”From the wound shape, the force direction is from the outside inward, and it was applied very strongly, causing immediate tissue loss.”

”Considering Liu Tie has thick lips, it’s very likely he was bitten on the lip during close contact with someone, leading to the formation of this spindle-shaped open wound.”

”That doesn’t make sense!”

Mr. Wang questioned, stroking his chin, ”If it was a human bite, the wound should be a compression wound, how could a piece of tissue be missing?”

”Exactly!”

Mr. Ma agreed, ”If it was a bite, the person wouldn’t really eat the flesh, would they? But this wound clearly lacks a piece of tissue.”

Jiang An fell into deep thought, his fingers tapping the table rhythmically without realizing it.

A moment later, he looked up and said, ”Although my specialty is forensic medicine, I have some understanding of clinical medicine.”

”If it were just a simple laceration, a doctor could easily repair it with sutures.”

”But this wound...”

He pointed at the magnified image on the screen, ”The wound was simply stitched together, without any tissue filler or embedding. What does this indicate?”

”It indicates that the missing tissue piece can’t be retrieved.”

”Can’t be retrieved?”

Zhang Yean widened her eyes in astonishment.

”That’s too bizarre.”

”Even if it was a bite, wouldn’t the person at least spit out the blood?”

”Exactly!”

Mr. Wang also shook his head, ”They couldn’t have really eaten the flesh, could they?”

Suddenly, Jiang An stood up abruptly, ”What if... the piece of lip tissue was indeed eaten?”

”Eaten?”

Everyone present gasped, ”That’s too horrifying to imagine.”

Jiang An quickly walked over to another computer and pulled up the autopsy photos of the deceased, Wang Xue.

The photos clearly showed the deceased’s mouth filled with bloodstains, yet the lip mucosa remained largely intact.

Jiang An pointed to the photos and analyzed, ”Look, there’s significant bleeding inside the deceased’s mouth, but the lips have no clear damage.”

”What does this suggest? It suggests that this blood likely didn’t originate from the deceased!”

Jiang An abruptly spun around, speaking resolutely, ”Mr. Wang, Mr. Ma, I must go to the mortuary immediately.”

”Now?”

Mr. Wang glanced at his watch; it was already half past eleven at night.

”What are you going to the mortuary this late for?”

”I need to re-examine the esophagus of the deceased, Wang Xue.”
