The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 564: Chapter 319: This... Isn’t the Shift a Bit Too Drastic?

Very soon, Jiang An, Zhang Yean, and Wan left the luxury villa.

As for how to handle this special ”family matter” afterwards, that would be a problem for them to negotiate and resolve themselves.

From a legal perspective, this can’t be considered a strict case of theft.

After all, it was just a family member privately using items from the home, which does not amount to criminal activity.

The middle-aged male owner of the villa was very humble, standing at the door to watch the police car slowly depart, not turning away until the taillights disappeared around the corner. Then he took his phone out of his suit pocket and dialed Mr. Ma’s number.

”Hello, Mr. Ma.”

His tone carried a touch of familiarity.

”Hey, old buddy,” came Mr. Ma’s hearty voice from the other end of the line, ”the Scene Investigation team has already gone over. How is the situation?”

”Hahaha, Mr. Ma, they’ve already left.”

The middle-aged man laughed, his voice echoing in the expansive front yard of the villa.

”So quick?”

Mr. Ma’s voice showed surprise, and he subconsciously lifted his wrist to look at the old-fashioned watch he’d worn for years.

”Does a scene investigation only take a dozen minutes?”

”These young people work too hastily,” with a tone of clear dissatisfaction.

However, Mr. Ma’s words were interrupted by the voice on the other side of the phone.

”Mr. Ma, this time you’ve really wronged your subordinates.”

”Though they look young, they work very well together, especially Officer Jiang An, who is highly professional. He resolved my issue in no time.”

”Resolved? That quickly?”

Mr. Ma was even more surprised.

”They only went for a Scene Investigation. There’s still a lot of investigation work to be done afterwards.”

”How could the case be concluded so quickly?”

”Old buddy, don’t cut corners because you want to save me trouble. Tackling theft crimes is our duty.”

”Thank you for your concern, Mr. Ma.”

The middle-aged man sighed, ”This time it really isn’t a case.”

”To be ashamed, it’s my worthless son who secretly took things from home, probably to exchange them for pocket money.”

The other end of the line suddenly fell into a brief silence.

After ten seconds, Mr. Ma’s voice suddenly turned serious: ”Old buddy, is that true?”

”This is no laughing matter.”

”Absolutely true, though the boy hasn’t returned home yet.”

”From the call just now, I’ve basically confirmed that it was him.”

The middle-aged man’s tone carried helplessness and a bit of annoyance.

”Ah, was it really him?”

Mr. Ma asked in surprise.

”Haha, if Officer Jiang An you sent wasn’t professional enough, who knows how long this case would have dragged on.”

The middle-aged man said on the phone, ”Strangely enough, Captain Jiang just circled around my house, focusing on the wardrobe and master bedroom...”

At this point, the middle-aged man raised his voice, ”Officer Jiang really has eyes of golden flame, spotting the issue at a glance.”

”At that time, I thought he wasn’t thorough enough, perhaps a bit negligent, but now I feel really embarrassed.”

Listening to his old buddy’s words, a warm feeling rose in Mr. Ma’s heart, and an involuntary smile of satisfaction appeared on his face.

Even though his old friend’s issue had been satisfactorily resolved, he felt immensely proud as a leader to receive such high praise for his subordinates from those involved.

He grinned and said, ”Hey, old buddy, do you think I’d neglect what you entrust to me?”

”Jiang An is a treasure of our criminal investigation team! Don’t be fooled by his young age, he’s very quick-witted and has made significant achievements in criminal investigations, being one of the top in our team.”

”Haha, indeed! This time, thanks to you and your capable officers,” the middle-aged man said sincerely.

”No need to be so polite, serving the people is our duty, and tackling crime is our daily job.”

Mr. Ma replied heartily, a hint of pride in his voice.

The two exchanged a few pleasantries before hanging up the call.

At 11:30 AM, the sun was blazing, and a police car slowly entered the courtyard of the Jiangcheng City Public Security Bureau’s Criminal Investigation Team.

The door opened, and Jiang An, Wan, and Zhang Yean got out of the car, visibly tired from the scene investigation.

At this time, it was lunchtime, and colleagues in the office building were heading to the cafeteria in small groups.

Just as the three of them got out of the car, Mr. Ma and Li Jian were coming down the stairs.

Mr. Ma saw them right away and hastened his steps to greet them, saying with concern, ”Good work!”

The three of them straightened up and replied in unison, ”Chief, it’s our duty.”

Mr. Ma nodded appreciatively, raising his hand to gently pat Jiang An on the shoulder.

”You did very well this time.”

”My old buddy just called to sing high praises of your performance.”

”Really?”

Wan’s eyes lit up, and a bright smile appeared on his face.

”We found the key clues as soon as we arrived on site, quickly discovering the truth.”

Zhang Yean also smiled and added, ”However, the main credit this time goes to our Captain Jiang.”

”If it weren’t for his rich experience, seeing through his son’s tricks at a glance, we might still be working hard on the scene.”

”Exactly!”

Wan turned around, nodding in agreement with deep feeling.

”If we followed the usual line of thinking, we could have concluded an outsider was responsible, which would have been a major blunder and an embarrassment to our investigation team.”

At this moment, Captain Li, who had been standing silently on the side, stepped forward and said with a firm tone, ”With Captain Jiang leading the team, I never worry about blunders.”
