Chapter 585: Chapter 329: The First to Make the Dead “Spit Out Evidence”!

Jiang An’s gloved fingers lightly brushed over the two clumps of decayed tissue, ”Although the decay is severe, the lip tissue structure is still discernible.”

”Look, this extremely thin part should be the vermillion zone, its edges showing a typical wavy transition.”

”And this thicker part is the skin transition area, where you can see the residual stratum corneum structure.”

He picked up the tweezers and gently prodded the tissue, ”Only human lips have such unique tissue structure characteristics, akin to fingerprints in their identifiability.”

Mr. Wang crossed his arms, his eyebrows knitted tightly.

”Can a morphological comparison be conducted? After all, the decay is quite severe...”

”Direct comparison is indeed difficult.”

Jiang An nodded, then shifted his tone, ”However, we can use the new generation of DNA testing technology to compare the mitochondrial DNA of these lip tissues with Liu Tie’s.”

”As long as the sample’s cell nucleus is well-preserved, using PCR amplification technology, the accuracy of the results can reach 99.99%.

”Great!”

Mr. Wang exclaimed excitedly, ”With this ironclad evidence, let’s see how he can still deny it!”

However, in the corner, Mr. Ma’s expression became even heavier.

”But if...”

His voice was so low it was almost as if he were talking to himself, ”If the comparison is successful, then who exactly is this mysterious ’Liu Tie’?”

His question was like a massive stone, weighing heavily on everyone’s hearts.

The hall fell silent, only the low hum of the cooling equipment could be heard.

After a long while, Mr. Wang suddenly gasped, ”If this person really is Liu Tie...”

His voice cut off abruptly, his Adam’s apple bobbing up and down.

In an instant, a terrifying idea crawled up his spine like a venomous snake.

Having worked on the front lines of criminal investigation, he was all too familiar with cases of identity theft.

”Could it be that Liu Tie has already...”

Zhang Yean’s guess slipped out, ”Been murdered?”

Their eyes all turned in unison towards Jiang An.

”This possibility...”

He paused, his voice eerily calm, ”Exists! And the possibility is very high.”

”Even if an ID can be used by others, where did his excavator come from?”

”At the time he chose to commit the crime, he should have been penniless.”

”An excavator costs hundreds of thousands, unlike an electric bike that’s easy to obtain.”

”Are you suggesting...”

Zhang Yean blinked, ”This excavator might also belong to Liu Tie?”

”It’s not out of the question.”

Mr. Wang suddenly punched the wall, ”In that case, the nature of the case completely changes!”

”Wouldn’t this be robbery and murder with an identity disguise?”

”I’m very curious now, the key question is why do the photos have some resemblance?”

Mr. Ma rubbed his stubble thoughtfully, ”I remember his ID card is valid for 20 years, issued in the year following the incident.”

”According to current household registration management regulations, a new ID card photo must be taken in person, which means...”

”It was taken before the incident!”

Zhang Yean suddenly widened her eyes, ”So, Li Dong started posing as Liu Tie after that!”

Mr. Ma suddenly stopped in his tracks, a flash of lightning outside the window illuminating his solemn profile for an instant.

”The disturbed yellow soil around Zhao Jian’s house...”

His finger traced an arc in the air, ”It all fits! The perpetrator got the excavator and returned to the scene under a new identity to dig.”

His voice quickened, ”And this new identity perfectly concealed his true face.”

But Mr. Wang furrowed his brow, ”No way, an excavator working in the village would not go unnoticed by the villagers. That’s too bold.”

Mr. Ma waved his hand, ”Mr. Wang, you might not be familiar with the situation in the countryside these days.”

”That location at Zhao Jian’s house is so remote that even dogs don’t want to go.”

”Even if there’s excavator work, villagers would at most glance and leave.”

He turned to face everyone, ”Moreover, it’s a murder house where an entire family was wiped out; everyone stays away.”

”Makes sense.”

Mr. Wang nodded slowly, ”In that light, the ’Liu Tie’ in the interrogation room is very likely Li Dong.”

At this moment, Jiang An was already gloved again, carefully placing the evidence into the evidence bag.

”We’ll send the oral tissue to the genetic laboratory as soon as we return.”

”Then we’ll extract the suspect’s blood for comparison.”

”As long as the DNA matches Liu Tie’s, the identity can be confirmed.”

Mr. Wang raised his hand and patted Jiang An, ”Thanks for your hard work!”

”Let’s split into two teams.”

”One team to verify Li Dong’s identity, the other...”

He paused, involuntarily lowering his voice, ”To find Liu Tie’s remains, I’m afraid he may have already been killed.”

Meanwhile, in the interrogation room under the intense lights, ’Liu Tie’ hung his head.

Li Jian and Wan had taken turns interrogating for nearly three hours, but the man’s eyelids were heavy and kept drooping as he maintained a maddening silence.

With a loud ’bang,’ the iron door of the interrogation room was violently pushed open.

Mr. Wang and Mr. Ma strode in.

Both of their expressions were somber, their dress shoes clicking crisply on the concrete floor, making a piercing sound in the enclosed interrogation room.

Without a word, he marched straight up to the man and slapped the metal interrogation table hard.

”Wake up! What are you sleeping for?”

The man, startled by the sudden noise, looked up in confusion.

”Officer, what are you doing?”

”I’ve been operating the excavator all day, I’m exhausted...”

”Excavator?” Mr. Ma sneered, ”You won’t be seeing another excavator tomorrow.”

”What do you mean?”

The man instinctively asked, then rubbed his sleepy eyes, carefully examining the unfamiliar face before him.
