The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 553: Chapter 313: Back to the Original Scene of the Year (Part 2)

In an instant, both of their faces turned grim.

It’s important to understand that the preliminary nature of the death in this case is a conclusion reached by the task force after repeated discussions.

How can this change so suddenly?

For a rural family, there is neither property invasion nor sexual assault, only the possibility of revenge killing.

Then, Li Jian said sternly, ”Comrade Jiang An, I know you have your unique views on this case.”

”However, our conclusion was also reached after multiple discussions within the task force.”

”If there’s no conclusive evidence, don’t you think we should stick to our previous perspective?”

Although Li Jian spoke rather tactfully, his meaning was expressed very clearly.

However, Jiang An continued, ”Captain, my reasoning has two points.”

”First, the nature of the injuries on the bodies of the two deceased is different.”

”The female victim has more wounds than the male victim.”

”Moreover, you can see there’s a fatal wound on the left chest of the male victim.”

”Second, considering the time of death, the process initially should have been the male victim dying first, followed by the female victim, until finally their child.”

Zhang Chao nodded after hearing this.

”Yes, this inference matches the time of death deduction when the forensic team initially entered the scene.”

”But what does this illustrate?”

Jiang An continued, ”In fact, regarding the analysis of the injuries on both adults, I believe the one who initially got injured should be this male.”

”In my view, in any scene, the initial struggle is always the fiercest and most likely to meet resistance, while the subsequent events are passively endured.”

”On the female victim’s body, there are no signs of resistance, indicating she had no courage to fight back while facing the assailant.”

”Do you mean that the first person the assailant contacted was the male?”

Jiang An nodded and said solemnly, ”You can see the male has multiple knife wounds on his hands, backs of the hands, and wrists.”

”Judging from the distribution of these scars, they are very likely to be defensive wounds.”

”This suggests that when the perpetrator entered the house, the male engaged in multiple attempts to resist.”

”Once the male was fully subdued, the woman could do nothing but endure the suffering.”

Hearing this analysis, Captain Li Jian and Instructor Zhang Chao were momentarily stunned.

The two exchanged a glance, and a slight nod conveyed a shared acknowledgment that it seemed reasonable.

Suddenly, Zhang Chao said, ”Mr. Jiang, solving a case requires evidence.”

”Do you have any?”

Jiang An smiled slightly and replied, ”At the moment, there isn’t any compelling evidence.”

”However, I believe the murderer’s motive wasn’t to kill.”

”Not to kill?”

”Not to kill?”

”Then what for?”

Jiang An spoke solemnly, ”The murderer might have been after a particular item.”

”An item?”

”The crime scene is in the countryside, without much of valuable assets?”

”Besides, even if it was for money, why didn’t we see any valuables missing when we first entered the scene?”

Afterward, Li Jian laughed and said, ”Could there be hidden savings or assets?”

”That seems unlikely!”

Then Jiang An said solemnly, ”Captain, I don’t know much about this case.”

”However, we can’t rule out the possibility that the assailant came for a special item.”

Jiang An continued, ”Because if the assailant came for a special item, then the coercive and harmful actions can be completely interpreted.”

After hearing Jiang An’s analysis, Zhang Chao stood there in silence for a long time.

He had also fully dedicated himself when investigating this case years ago.

Zhang Chao was very familiar with many situations in the case.

If this possibility was indeed present, it would be a reasonable explanation.

After a long time, Zhang Chao sighed.

He said, ”The investigation into this case has gone on for a very long time without any results.”

”Initially, we considered it a revenge killing, and indeed investigated thoroughly but couldn’t find any clues.”

”Thinking from another angle now might not be a bad attempt.”

After speaking, he turned and glanced at Li Jian.

Li Jian also nodded slightly and said, ”Comrade Jiang An, if you can discover new clues, it is worth the attempt.”

The two then turned around and headed back to the office together.

Regarding Jiang An’s discussion, they kept it in mind but did not pay special attention.

However, as the three were about to enter their respective offices on the third-floor corridor, Jiang An suddenly said, ”Captain, Instructor, this afternoon I’d like to request leave to visit the original crime scene.”

”Original scene?”

”It’s quite far away.”

”It’s fine; I’ll go with a senior and a junior to check it out in the afternoon.”

”Senior Sister Zhang Yean specializes in traces research.”

Li Jian heard this and smiled, saying, ”That’s good.”

”This case has gone so long without any progress.”

”If you can find some leads, there might be a major breakthrough.”

Then Li Jian said, ”Should we arrange for other people to assist you?”

”That’s not necessary for now!”

”I want to first dive into the scene and get a preliminary sense of it.”

”This case has been going on for a long time, mainly to see if a breakthrough can be found?”

After hesitating slightly, Captain Li Jian nodded.

Then, he raised his hand and patted Jiang An’s shoulder.

”You’ve worked hard.”

”You’ve indeed worked very hard, solving multiple cases consecutively during this period.”

”If there are no leads, you don’t need to worry too much.”

”Yes, Captain, thank you for your concern.”

At two o’clock in the afternoon, the three set off together.

At that moment, the three still felt somewhat exhausted despite napping at noon; the fatigue from last night hadn’t receded.

At a coffee shop on the right at the city bureau entrance, Zhang Yean specifically got out of the car and bought three cups of coffee.

Sitting in the police car, the three drove straight to the scene of the incident from years ago, sipping their coffee.

Two hours later, the police car entered a mountain path.

Twenty minutes later, the car stopped in front of a two-story building.

Once they got out of the car, they looked around.

The weeds around the building were overgrown, clearly neglected for a long time.

The door was locked with a large padlock, with a seal affixed conspicuously.

Wan asked, ”Did you contact the local police station in advance?”

”Yes, they should be on their way.”

As soon as he finished speaking, a police car appeared in their sight.

The person getting out was Chen Dong, the deputy chief of the local police station.

”Mr. Jiang, sorry to keep you waiting, there was some traffic on the way.”

”No matter, you’ve arrived just in time; we just got here.”

Chen Dong hurriedly walked forward, took out the key, and unlocked the door.

”Mr. Jiang, you just need to close the door when you leave.”

”Alright, thank you.”

With that, Chen Dong left with the keys.

Upon pushing open the door, the sight before them astonished all three.

The courtyard was large but filled with weeds.

Some of the grass had grown taller than a person’s height.

Seeing the rampant weeds, Wan looked at Jiang An with a bit of helplessness.

”The scene is like this; do you think it’s necessary to continue looking?”

”The courtyard has grass, but the central scene shouldn’t have any.”

”Let’s walk through the grassland to the central scene in the living room.”

And so, the three forged a trail through the grass and reached the entrance to the living room.

The living room was only sealed with a strip, not locked.

After tearing open the seal, the three pushed the door and entered.

Instantly, a musty smell mixed with the scent of old furniture assaulted them.

Traces of mottled blood still flowed on the floor, faintly visible...
