Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 248: I recognized that Halo!

”You are unbelievable.” Xia Qingyue shook her head.

”I do not know if you have sensed it or not, but the laser beams coming at you are pressurized beams of light at the level of the 12th level of the 2nd rank.”

”....What?” Grey was dumbfounded.

Only then did he realize the existence of the lasers.

He turned to look at them sharply and frowned.

Then, the frown eased.

He was first confused as to why they had pressurized lasers at the 12th level.

But on the other hand, they had the Whitespring cities backing them, did they not?

His own AV had powerful weaponry in it.

It had only been about two weeks since he created his AV, but its capabilities should have already reached the middle stage due to the cosmic energy processor he installed into it.

Although he did not believe it would be as exaggerated as his own cosmic energy processor, which could forever keep the AV running as long as cosmic energy existed, it should still be somewhat close, if not average, compared to his own.

They must have received the technology from the Mandate Province, as the three Whitespring cities council was directly under the Mandate Province.

And after years of accumulation, the lasers being this strong was within the realm of what could be achieved, especially with a cosmic ore embryo at their disposal.

”We should make some distance between them,” Xia Qingyue said worriedly.

”I cannot keep the time stop for long.”

”If even one of them lands on you, you will perish immediately.”

Xia Qingyue did not think otherwise.

She knew Grey had utilized a talisman to buff his own powers to deal with the High Order invasion, and his actual capabilities were far below that level.

She could sense that he was at the 4th level right now, one step away from the law transformation level.

Because of the gap in the later stages, it was clear that Grey would not be able to handle this onslaught.

In the frozen world of time, the law enforcement officers all looked at the laser beams swarming the sky with hopeful gazes.

These were beams of light at the 12th level of the 2nd rank.

If one could not kill the dragon, then the other hundreds might be sufficient.

Likewise, not far from the city walls of the center city, a man stood beside them with several drone remotes on him and a selfie stick attached to his phone.

He was a streamer.

When misfortune struck, some people utilized the opportunity to make a fortune, and that was exactly what he was doing.

The instant it hit the internet, it blew up.

The entire southern region was watching, partially due to the popularity of Whitespring and it being under the influence of the Mandate Province.

Within minutes, the majority of the population was watching it.

People who had just woken up from late-night gaming, people eating lunch, people going about their corporate jobs, construction workers, and even kindergarten teachers were watching this scene.

Far away, several robed figures were also witnessing the scene.

Some stared at the screen with stunned expressions, while others looked grim.

Why was everyone watching this?

It was because of the beast.

Its powerful presence and the halo above its head gave off a domineering, instinctual fear to everyone who saw it.

They wanted to know.

What exactly was this creature?

...

Grey, hearing Xia Qingyue’s words, merely smiled.

”Why are you scared?” he asked with a laugh as his Saint’s Eye lit up brightly, illuminating the frozen world.

”You. Stop!” Xia Qingyue was alarmed.

Had transforming made him go crazy?

Why was he resuming time right now?

Xia Qingyue tensed up as she prepared to defend Grey from danger.

”Do not worry,” Grey grinned, his voice turning inhumane and glitchy as circuit-like lines spread across his arms.

The world flashed black and white as the brilliance of Nexus energy surged out like a tsunami.

Time was restored as Grey utilized his authority over time as a Saint.

His halo glowed brighter than ever as he faced the laser beams rushing toward him.

Immediately, everyone’s expressions changed.

The stream’s chat, hosting millions of viewers, exploded.

[Where is the beast?]

[Host, zoom in on the area. I cannot see the beast anymore!]

The streamer immediately complied with their requests.

He brought the drone closer and zoomed in even further.

The instant he did, they saw it.

Or rather, him.

[Huh?! Is that—]

[Grey Lockhart, the youngest City Lord of the southern region!]

[That halo. I knew I had seen it somewhere before!]

Grey stood facing the laser beams with an indifferent expression.

His long hair fluttered in the wind, and to him, the beams were not fast at all.

They were as slow as snails.

The Nexus Overclock amplified nervous system allowed him to react faster than ever.

He believed he could push it even further while in his dragon form.

However, to deal with these lasers, his dragon form was not necessary.

He slowly stretched his arms outward and uttered, ”Nexus Convergence.”

His words were neither loud nor soft, yet everyone heard them.

The instant they did, a chill ran down their spines.

His voice, distorted by Nexus Overclock, was bone-chilling to hear.

Even he himself had not realized it yet.

The next moment, the world flashed purple and black.

The air before Grey began to distort immensely.

Whrrmmmm.

From within the distortion, a black hole-like power emerged.

Its edges glowed deep purple, and the moment it descended, the nearby mountain shattered completely.

The land cracked, and Whitespring trembled violently.

”Not good!” Chief William, back in the law enforcement bureau, had an ugly look on his face.

Seeing the massive black hole appear out of nowhere made his heart skip a beat.

The next moment, his fears were realized.

The black hole did not merely shatter everything around it.

The laser beams rushing toward Xia Qingyue and Grey were swallowed whole.

They were erased the instant they crossed its boundary, as if they had never existed.

Boom.

Space screamed as the black hole detonated.

It collapsed inward on itself, folding violently as gravity devoured gravity.

Existence was compressed into a single catastrophic point before reality rebounded in a deafening surge.
