Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 226: Possibility of realms beyond the first layer

After the short exchange with Fedrick, Grey did not stay around. There were far more pressing matters than talking to a legendary third rank expert from the floating cities.

At the same time, Fedrick made it clear that he wanted to leave and was willing to forgive Grey for what had happened. However, now that he had witnessed everything related to Alissa and Grey himself, Grey had no intention of letting him go.

As for what he planned to do with him, only time would tell.

But for now, Fedrick would remain sealed and captive within the secret realm.

...

As soon as Grey returned to his room, a young lady entered, wearing a blue nightgown, her hair still slightly damp from a recent shower.

It was Lia.

Grey had not shown his face for the past four days.

It had made everyone worried.

Luckily, thanks to Lia, everyone knew he was safe during that entire time.

”Grey. that dragon was it Alissa...” As soon as she entered, Lia brought up what had happened in the secret realm.

Grey was not surprised. She had a direct link to the infernals. If anything went wrong, they could contact her immediately through that connection. In fact, Lia had more authority than Grey himself when it came to matters involving the secret realm and the real world.

Grey could not access the information layer of Blue Star while inside the secret realm. The realm existed within a sub dimension of Blue Star’s first layer of space, and the first layer was littered with countless spatial nodes. Even in the Southern Region alone, he could sense many of them.

Unfortunately, if he forcefully broke out of the secret realm’s barrier and moved toward those connections within the chaotic spatial currents of the first layer, he would die instantly. His body was not built to withstand raw spatial turbulence.

He had never seriously considered this limitation before, simply because he never intended to comprehend space before reaching the fourth rank. However, now that he was approaching minor succession in the Spatial Law, that reality was no longer distant.

The secret realm was his greatest tool for comprehending space. If he continued observing the realm’s portal for another week or two, he might reach minor succession and finally gain access to the second layer of space.

Speaking of the second layer of space, while comprehending the transformation technique, Grey had taken several breaks. During those moments, when he had nothing else to do, he simply stared at the sky beyond the secret realm’s dome.

Yet the sky above the secret realm was not truly fake.

That was because it followed the same principles as Blue Star itself. Light emitted from the realmheart scattered through a gaseous atmosphere. Shorter wavelengths dispersed more efficiently, giving the sky its familiar blue hue. Clouds formed through controlled condensation, shaped by stable temperature and pressure gradients rather than illusion.

Wind existed due to rotational differentials enforced across the realm, creating circulation patterns identical to planetary jet streams. Rain fell because gravity was consistent, droplets accelerating, merging, and descending exactly as they should.

The only difference lay in the source.

There was no sun, no planetary core, no orbital mechanics. The realmheart replaced them all, continuously supplying energy and enforcing natural constants.

This sky was not fake.

It was science, sustained by evolver power.

During this period of observation, a wild theory gradually formed in Grey’s mind.

If secret realms could exist within the first layer of space, then there was no reason they could not exist in the second layer as well. And not merely exist, but exist on a far larger scale. Perhaps even twice the size of his current realm.

After all, as far as he knew, an abyssal being already resided there.

More importantly, Wang Lin’s words resurfaced vividly in his mind.

”The Dragon Clan lives in the deepest layer of space.”

That single statement carried terrifying implications.

It meant life could not only exist, but adapt and thrive, within higher layers of space where suppression was even more severe. In essence, it was no different from the relationship between lower realms and higher realms.

Those born in a lower realm could never perceive the greater world beyond under normal circumstances unless they achieved sufficient comprehension of space. Without it, the higher world simply did not exist to them.

By the same logic, beings living within secret realms of the second layer of space might be unable to perceive the main world at all, since they existed in a sub dimension of that layer.

But there was also another possibility.

They could perceive it perfectly, possessing far higher comprehension of space, and simply choose not to descend. Whether due to overwhelming spatial suppression, incompatible laws, or pervasive abyssal energy, descending might not be worth the cost.

In the end, one conclusion became unavoidable.

If sub dimensions could form in the first layer of space, then they could also form in the second. If mutated beasts could survive within first layer secret realms, then second layer secret realms would inevitably harbor even more terrifying existences.

Grey’s interest sharpened.

Once he reached minor succession, or even major succession, he would definitely explore the higher layers of space, assuming such realms truly existed. The scale of this world was clearly not confined to a single layer, nor even a single plane.

At that moment, he finally understood something.

There was a reason this planet was called special.

”Hey, Grey. Are you there?” Lia waved her hand in front of him, breaking his deep silence.

If there was one problem with Grey, it was his habit of drifting into deep thought at the most inappropriate times and places.

But then again, she could not treat him like a normal person. Grey was a rare genius, someone whose mind operated on a transcendent level, seemingly capable of comprehending anything.

Could his train of thought ever be normal?

Hearing her voice, Grey snapped out of it.

”Ah, right.” He nodded lightly. ”Yeah, to answer your question. It was indeed, Alissa.”
