Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 230: An emerging pattern forming once again

The Clone’s body trembled with genetic awakening. For a split second, its entire body was covered in mixed essence power as reshaping began. Organs started rearranging, and the muscles, bones, and veins running through the clone’s body made popping sounds as it underwent transformation.

Grey observed carefully. The transformation wasn’t complete, but rather a simple restructuring and strengthening. He knew why it was like this.

The twelve genetic markings in the DNA structure that formed with the circulation of the transformation technique represented the twelve levels of transformation. Once you ignited a mark, you needed to nourish the second marking using your energy to eventually ignite it. The ignition speed depended on one’s talent and cultivation speed.

Of course, ordinary evolvers had no idea of the existence of these markings. They simply circulated energy as mentioned in the transformation technique.

But Grey knew better. These genetic markings were the true path of transformation, and remembering the structural engineering of a True Source Dragon, it was clear that such markings also existed within them.

However, he hadn’t understood their importance until now.

Alissa had already finished igniting the first marking, yet she was still undergoing transformation, just like his clone was undergoing structural change. If Grey wasn’t wrong, the clone’s transformation would last a full day. Alissa igniting the genetic marking and forming the anchor was likely the reason for the sudden outburst of cold within the secret realm.

Her transformation took longer since she belonged to a higher and superior dragon race. But that wasn’t Grey’s concern right now.

Now that he had a lead, he knew what to do.

The genetic markings of the primordial human transformation were already engraved into Grey’s mind. He understood not only their appearance, but also the logic behind their formation. That meant he could replicate them, and more importantly, attempt to fuse multiple markings together in a deliberate sequence to create something beyond their original design.

During the long process of constructing the evolutionary path, Grey had learned one fundamental truth. Nothing existed without order. From galaxies to storms, from energy circulation to flesh, most phenomena followed ratios and proportions, with the golden ratio appearing again and again as a stabilizing principle.

Genetic markings were no exception.

Grey took out a pen and paper. The strange circulation method recorded within the transformation techniques was not arbitrary. It existed solely to guide energy through the body in a way that forced the markings to form in a precise structural pattern.

He began sketching the markings he had observed within Alissa’s DNA framework, relying entirely on memory. At first glance, the lines appeared meaningless, scattered strokes without form or intent.

But when viewed with the correct context, when one understood that these lines represented a dragon’s genetic marking and its folding logic, the structure revealed itself. What seemed chaotic was in fact a complete pattern, waiting to be recognized.

Grey began drawing over it. He was no artist, but precision mattered more than aesthetics. Line by line, starting from the markings themselves, he connected the fragments into a single form.

Soon, a figure emerged on the paper.

A dragon.

The twelve markings were not random. Each one was connected to a specific structural region of the dragon’s body.

The first was linked to the spine. The second connected to the head and horns. The third and fourth extended into the wings.

The fifth aligned with the heart. The sixth settled around the core. The seventh branched into the forelimbs.

The eighth spread across the scales. The ninth traced the lungs and throat. The tenth followed the tail.

The eleventh intertwined with the nervous system. The twelfth did not correspond to any physical organ at all. It sat at the center of the structure, connected directly to the dragon’s origin imprint itself, acting as the point where all other markings converged.

The markings were, in fact, formed in the appearance of a dragon.

He then began drawing the primordial human transformation’s genetic markings. After finishing, what appeared was a complete humanoid form.

”Were things really this easy?” Grey was momentarily speechless.

Yet upon reflection, it made perfect sense. Even locating Nexus energy had not required convoluted formulas or esoteric mysteries. More often than not, the fundamental truths of the world hid in plain sight.

It was not complexity that governed evolution, but simplicity refined to its extreme.

[Your comprehension defies the heavens! By observing the genetic markings, you’ve gained insight into the hidden rules of evolution.]

Then Grey frowned.

Now that he understood the distinct markings and their differences, a new thought arose. How was he going to merge them together?

From the insight he received on the hidden rules of evolution and genetic markings, it was made clear that only twelve markings could be established, each representing one of the twelve levels of transformation.

He could, in theory, form these twelve distinct markings within his DNA structure right now. But in the end, there would be twenty four markings, and the rules of evolution denied the very concept of that.

That was why there were twelve distinct levels to each rank of evolution. These twelve levels represented something fundamental, and it became far more prominent at higher levels.

Quite honestly, he did not possess the capability to overthrow the hidden rules of evolution. Meaning he would be directly struck by lightning and die if he attempted it. Or perhaps reality itself would glitch, and he would be erased from existence.

Besides, having twenty four markings or even more was simply illogical. The amount of resources required to ignite them one by one was practically self destructive, and he would likely die before igniting them all.

And Grey had no intention of merely plagiarizing two transformation techniques. How could he form the perfect body and achieve the perfect transformation with only two techniques?

Taking that into account, wouldn’t it easily surpass a hundred markings?

Grey’s lips twitched.

Forget reaching the 3rd rank. He doubted if he could even reach the 2nd level of the 2nd rank in a hundred thousand years with that many markings.
