Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 227: Herb field issues

Lia already knew about it either way. She should have seen everything already, and since that was the case, there was no need to hide anything from her.

”It’s really here.” Lia shook her head, emotion evident in her voice.

At the same time, Grey noticed something unusual.

Didn’t Lia just say the word dragon?

”Where did you learn the term dragon from?” Grey asked.

”The term dragon?” Lia tilted her head, as if there was nothing strange about it.

But then she froze.

Indeed. Dragons did not exist on Blue Star.

”It’s part of the information I received.” Lia nodded. ”I received a lot of information, and this was included.”

”Oh.” Grey nodded. ”Is that information related to normal dragons?”

”Normal dragons?” Lia tilted her head again, clearly recalling something. Then she spoke. ”No. There are only mentions of True Dragons. What is a normal dragon? Is it a variant of dragons?”

”...” Grey’s eyelids twitched uncontrollably.

”Before I answer that, what do you know about True Dragons?” Grey asked, feeling strangely speechless.

For a moment, he did not know whether to laugh or cry.

This girl had known all along.

”True Dragons?” Lia thought for a moment. ”The information is limited. But from what I know, they are extremely terrifying beings. Even the gods must show them mutual respect.”

Then, as if something clicked, Lia spoke again.

”Grey, Alissa is a True Dragon, right?”

She had assumed that only one dragon existed so far, meaning she had already categorized Alissa as an all powerful True Dragon, which was not wrong. However, after hearing the term normal dragon, she instinctively reassessed the situation.

”Yes, she is a True Dragon.” Grey spread his hands. Since she already knew, there was nothing to hide.

”As for your question.” Grey paused briefly before continuing. ”The normal dragons I know of are lower dimensional dragons found within this universe. If I am not wrong, the world Alissa comes from and the god world you came from both possess higher dimensionality than the universe we are currently in.”

Lia wore a thoughtful expression. She already understood the structure of the universe, so this explanation was not difficult for her to process.

”Everything makes sense now.” Lia nodded slowly.

Then she suddenly smiled brightly at Grey.

”You must be tired after spending so many days inside the secret realm, right?” she asked. ”Do you want me to cook something for you?”

”My cooking skills have improved significantly under the guidance of the Director of the Culinary School. He’s a second rank essence infusion chief. My spirit cooking skills have improved tremendously as a result.”

Grey would not expect anything less from Lia.

She possessed an endless potential physique. He would not even be surprised if she told him that she had surpassed the director himself in a few weeks.

That was how broken her physique was.

”Alright.” Grey smiled. ”I’ll take that offer. Cook something for me.”

He was genuinely curious about essence infusion and spirit cooking, which involved infusing one’s own energy directly into food.

Soon, Lia prepared a simple stir fried chicken and rice. However, the specialty of the dish lay in the divine energy infused within it. Its quality was bound to be exceptional.

The moment Grey took a bite, the food seemed to melt in his mouth.

Instantly, he fell silent.

Grey had always been a fan of good food.

And right now, this dish was better than anything he had ever tasted!

”Cook for me every day.” Grey said seriously as he continued eating without pause, as if his life depended on it.

Lia simply sat beside him, eating together with a peaceful smile on her face.

’That’s my plan.’

Soon, they finished their meal. Little Hong had already gone to sleep, as it was quite late. Hence, it was just the two of them.

While they were on the topic, Lia brought up matters related to the province.

”Sister Valeria and Eterna have been managing the city while you were gone.”

”Huh? Eterna?” Grey raised an eyebrow. ”She contacted Valeria?”

”Yes.” Lia nodded. ”She’s been giving Valeria guidance, helping her operate from the shadows.”

”According to Valeria, Eterna has been subtly adjusting city layouts, resource routes, and even civilian work distribution. Nothing obvious, but without her help, Sister Valeria alone wouldn’t have been able to manage everything in just a few days.”

Grey remained silent as Eterna’s figure appeared within his mind interface, almost as if saying, Praise me.

On the other hand, this was something they had already agreed upon. Eterna probably saw Valeria struggling and decided that giving her some guidance would be beneficial. Perhaps she was even helping Valeria improve her city management skills indirectly.

’Thanks.’ Grey replied internally.

At least the AI had kept its word.

Eterna nodded with a blank expression and vanished.

She, along with everyone else close to Grey, shared the same question.

Why was an all powerful AI that governed the world helping with city construction?

Speaking of that, Lia suddenly remembered something Valeria had asked her to pass on.

”By the way, Sister Valeria told me to tell you something,” Lia said. ”It’s related to the herb fields.”

”Several sectors in Dawnwatch, Silverguard, and Ironvein City are encountering problems with herb cultivation. It’s not a land issue. The problem is growth. The cosmic soil is degrading faster than it can recover. Even with the Formation Association reinforcing the fields with arrays, yields continue to decline.”

Grey fell silent when he heard this.

He immediately understood the implication.

Cosmic soil was not ordinary earth. Every harvest stripped away a portion of the latent energy stored within it. Under normal circumstances, it would slowly replenish itself through ambient cosmic flow. But now, the rate of depletion had surpassed the rate of recovery.

Formations could stabilize the soil and slow the degradation, but they could not create energy from nothing. At best, they merely delayed the inevitable.

Replacing cosmic soil on a large scale was possible.

It was also prohibitively expensive.

Purchasing even a fraction of what those sectors consumed annually would drain vast resources, and the problem would eventually return anyway.

This was not a simple supply issue.

But suddenly, Grey smiled.

Didn’t he already have a solution to this problem?

The answer was already within the secret realm.
