Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2171: Chapter 2166: Assigned an Important Task

The name of this person in the drug trafficking organization was known as ”Rat”.

He was actually Hei Mei’s biological brother.

After Hei Mei was kidnapped and sent for training within the organization, a major change occurred at home.

The parents soon both passed away, leaving only him, the brother.

After working for a few years, he found this life too difficult to bear, so he started trafficking drugs with others.

It started with small-scale operations, but he discovered that drugs were unbelievably lucrative.

And thus, he got hooked.

After meeting Mu Qiankun, he followed him in drug trafficking all along.

He used all that money as travel expenses to search all over the country for his long-lost sister.

In the beginning, there was some hope, but the more time passed, the more disappointed he became, and he ultimately gave up on the search.

When Hei Mei was at home, her brother treated her quite well.

He always cherished her, looked after her, even better than their parents did.

In those days, the parents were busy all year round making a living, and it was the brother who took care of her at home.

So, even though Hei Mei was sold several times and even suffered a mental shock, causing her to forget many things, she always remembered her brother in her heart.

”Thank you, Boss Hou,” Yuan Yunong said softly, ”Even though I didn’t find him, you set up a tombstone for him, which has fulfilled a wish in my heart.”

”No need to thank me. I’ve delivered the message Cang Lang asked me to pass on. I can’t stay any longer; I must leave now. You should leave after I do,” Hou Zicheng repeatedly instructed Hei Mei.

His current situation was particularly precarious; a single mistake could easily expose him.

He’s now being monitored as a spy, and if the people from the Security Bureau discover he has contact with others, those people will undoubtedly become suspect too.

He doesn’t want Hei Mei to carry any suspicion.

This was also what Cang Lang intended.

Hei Mei needed to stay; she still had an important mission to complete.

Hou Zicheng left alone, and only after he was far away did Yuan Yunong leave the cemetery.

........................

Zhao Dong drank a bit too much and spent the entire day in bed over the weekend.

When he opened his eyes, the sun was already setting.

The afterglow of the sunset shone in through the window, casting a bright light in the room.

A person sat at the desk near the window, back facing him, with a broad and upright figure, looking somewhat like the captain.

”Captain...” Zhao Dong sat up, rubbing his aching temples, and called out.

Qin Jian turned around and waved the notebook in his hand: ”Your love diary is quite well-written!!”

Seeing his privacy being read, Zhao Dong quickly lunged forward, snatched the notebook, and said with great dissatisfaction, ”Captain, how could you read my notebook? This is an invasion of my privacy, a very unethical behavior!”

Qin Jian raised his hand and gave Zhao Dong a slap: ”I told you to keep a work diary, but you wrote a love diary! What makes you think I want to read about your love life?”

Hearing Qin Jian say this, Zhao Dong quickly closed the notebook and awkwardly changed the subject: ”Captain, why did you come all the way here to the unit?”

”I came to see you, to entrust you with a very important task, hoping you can complete it,” Qin Jian said.
