Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2153: Chapter 2148: The Innocent Remain Innocent

”Shall I just sit here and pick the vegetables?” Zhang Yun couldn’t just leave Yuan Yunong to cook by herself.

”Sure! That works.” Yuan Yunong smiled, put on an apron, and started getting busy.

Watching Yuan Yunong look so virtuous, and thinking about what Zhuang Wenhui said, Zhang Yun started to wonder if this Teacher Yuan really had her eyes on Qin Jian?

Wouldn’t that be troublesome?

So, she tentatively said, ”Don’t take to heart what Zhuang Wenhui said today! Qin Jian and An Hao have been through a lot together, and they love each other very much. Qin Jian won’t easily change his heart, and An Hao is a good wife, juggling work and managing the household, which is tough. Many people in the courtyard are envious of us, so it’s not uncommon to hear unpleasant words! We’re fine with it, but we’re worried about you...”

”Worried about me? Auntie, what are you worried about?” Yuan Yunong turned her head in surprise and asked Zhang Yun, ”Are you afraid that hearing such unpleasant words would upset me?”

”Exactly! Look at you, so young and beautiful! The key is that you’re not married yet, and hearing gossip behind your back like that is really not good. You help us, and it gets misunderstood by others... We feel really bad about it.” Zhang Yun said apologetically.

”Auntie! Didn’t I say before? A clean conscience fears no accusation! I’m helping you, not because of Captain Qin, but because I like the two kids, and I like your family! So, when you have difficulties, I try to lend a hand!” Yuan Yunong finished speaking, paused, thought for a moment, and continued, ”I’m actually seeing Commander Zhao of the reconnaissance company! He knows why I’m doing this... So, as long as he trusts me and doesn’t misunderstand, that’s better than anything!”

”You’re seeing Commander Zhao?” Zhang Yun asked hurriedly upon hearing this.

”Yes!” Yuan Yunong lowered her head, blushing, and said, ”Actually, we often come here. Every time the Captain and An Hao cook a good meal, they invite me and Zhao Dong to join! I’ve received the Captain and An Hao’s help! How can I not help when they’re in trouble?”

”That’s great! That’s wonderful! I’ve heard of Zhao Dong, he’s a good young man! He has a promising future, Teacher Yuan, if you really get along well with him, this is definitely a good match.” Zhang Yun said happily.

”If we do end up together, I’ll definitely invite you to the wedding!” Yuan Yunong said with a sweet smile.

”Great! Then I’ll give you a big gift!”

This conversation completely dispelled Zhang Yun’s doubts about Yuan Yunong. And it also conveniently gave Yuan Yunong the opportunity to frequently visit Qin Jian’s house.

Zhuang Wenhui and Liao Ting, the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law duo, would chat idly when they had nothing to do, and soon, some ridiculous and baseless rumors quietly spread throughout the courtyard.

Almost everyone in the courtyard knew that Teacher Yuan from the kindergarten visited Qin Jian’s house daily to look after Zhang Yun, who enjoyed watching her son supposedly having a foot in two boats.

At the end of the month, Qin Jian returned from the exercises.

However, he came back on crutches because he injured his leg during the exercises, where his leg bone hit a rock and got a crack.

Fortunately, it wasn’t too serious, and the doctor put a cast on it and sent him home to rest.
