Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1534: Chapter 1534: Major News

”Just wait and see.” An Hao tossed out a line and turned to leave.

She had nothing to say to Guan Qing.

The next day, a bombshell piece of news exploded in the military camp.

Vice Commander Hen Zhiyuan was taken away by the Commission for Discipline Inspection; the reason was unclear.

However, as everyone was speculating, an even more shocking piece of news burst forth: Vice Commander Hen Zhiyuan was caught in a hotel room with a woman by the Commission for Discipline Inspection.

It was said that photos were taken and were now lying on the desk in the Office of the Commission for Discipline Inspection.

With each piece of news, people’s nerves were tingling with excitement; now everyone was guessing, who could the woman with Vice Commander Hen Zhiyuan be?

When Commander Guan heard the report from his subordinates, he was instantly shocked; the teacup in his hand clattered to the ground and shattered, with hot tea splashing onto the back of his hand, painfully uncomfortable.

”Commander... are you alright?” Seeing the Commander burn his hand, leaving a red mark, the guard immediately turned around to wring out a cold towel and handed it to him.

”I’m fine. Clean this up, then leave,” Commander Guan said.

”Yes, Commander.”

After the guard cleaned up and left, Commander Guan closed the door to his room. He went back to his seat, propped his forehead with both hands, and sat in silence for a long time before slowly lifting his head, his eyes filled with heartache and helplessness.

His most beloved soldier had committed such an act, it really felt like a brutal stab to his heart.

Heartbreaking!

Besides heartbreak, there was shame! So much shame!

Hen Zhiyuan actually engaged in an affair with another woman—an act that could potentially ruin his career. If handled lightly, it would result in a major demerit; he could forget about any promotion.

If handled severely, it would mean expulsion from the military.

As a vice commander, to think he even wore his uniform to a glitzy nightclub—what kind of woman was she, was this an affair or what...?

”Xiaozhang! Xiaozhang!” Commander Guan called for his guard, ”Tell me, what kind of outrageous woman has Zhiyuan been involved with to bring such dishonor to us?”

”This...” The guard hesitated, faltering.

”Speak up!” Commander Guan slammed his hand hard on the table.

”...It’s... Miss Guan...” the guard confessed.

”What?” Commander Guan felt a darkness before his eyes and a tightness in his chest, almost spewing out blood.

”Commander, are you alright?” Seeing Commander Guan clutching his chest, the guard was startled and hurriedly went to support him, ”Don’t get too agitated. Besides, nobody knows yet that the woman is Miss Guan. When the discipline inspectors caught them red-handed, they didn’t say a word and just took Vice Commander Hen away.”

”That was the discipline inspectors sparing my feelings, considering my old face,” Commander Guan said painfully, ”This child, she has never given me peace of mind! It’s all my fault for spoiling her.”

As he was speaking, the telephone on the desk rang. Commander Guan picked it up, and Guan Qing’s weary voice came through, ”Dad, do you know about what happened? Zhiyuan was taken away by the discipline inspectors... Can you please help, get him out of there?”

”Help? You make it sound so easy! Tell me, how can I help? The news has spread throughout the entire military! What were you thinking? Did you even consider the consequences when you did this?” Commander Guan yelled furiously into the phone.
