Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1517: Chapter 1517: Will Not Spare Him

”Was it Zhiyuan who deliberately didn’t save you?” An Hao asked bluntly.

”How did you find out?” Qin Jian exclaimed in surprise.

”The child you saved told me he heard your argument. And, he said that the news of your death made all the warriors in the battalion very sad. Only Zhiyuan was seen sneaking smiles from time to time. He believes it must have been him who killed you.” Sometimes, children are better at reading between the lines than adults.

”And you? Do you think so too?”

”Yes. This Zhiyuan doesn’t get along well with our family at all. Plus, considering the incident of your promotion in the troops, I suspect he’s deeply involved.” An Hao clenched her fists tightly, speaking angrily.

”Empty talk is no proof, evidence is needed,” Qin Jian said.

”Don’t worry. I will find the evidence. I can’t tolerate such a scourge in the troops for a single day!” An Hao ground her teeth with a grating sound.

”You’re right,” Qin Jian began slowly, his tone mixed with indignation and a chill, ”My fall into the ravine wasn’t an accident but an inevitability. If someone wants to harm you, truly, there is no escape! When I was hanging off the cliff, Zhiyuan reached out both hands to me. I thought by giving my hand to a brother I would be saved, but it turned out to be the exact opposite.”

When Zhiyuan’s hands gripped his wrist, Qin Jian had a bad premonition.

What did such an action signify?

It signified that if one let go, the other would fall without a struggle.

As expected, Zhiyuan pretended like he couldn’t hold on. His face looked ferocious, as if he was trying with all his might.

But those eyes were something no one could deceive.

In his gaze was distraction, and when that flicker of distraction appeared, he chose to slowly let go.

Qin Jian faced him, no one knew better than he the struggle that had passed through Zhiyuan’s mind.

No matter whether he had thought of harming him before, in the end, he let go!

What moved Qin Jian was that Bing Tianniu, whom he had brought up, in a crucial moment of life and death, actually leaped towards the edge of the cliff, desperately grabbing his hand...

This brotherhood transcended life and death and was irreplaceable by any other emotion.

”You’re back, and that’s the best gift heaven could give us. Qin Jian, you must expose Zhiyuan’s true face in public, and let everyone see what kind of person he really is,” An Hao growled angrily.

”Rest assured. I won’t let him off. Even if I were to forgive him, there’s another who won’t.”

”Tian Niu?”

”Mhm.” Qin Jian nodded, ”Tian Niu actually could have held on a little longer. But, his foot was kicked away by Zhiyuan. Losing his footing, his body lost its balance, he got pulled down by me, and we both helplessly fell into the crevice together.”

”That’s despicable! Such shamelessness in a family,” An Hao’s anger was beyond words.

”In face of temptation, not everyone can resist. Greed breeds evil, and I regret that my deputy head has fraternized with the devil, abandoning his own comrades and brothers,” Qin Jian said with heartfelt pain.

”Such a person does not deserve to be a soldier. Qin Jian, when do you plan to report his vile actions to the military superiors?” An Hao asked.
