Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1524: Chapter 1524: Willing to Fly into the Flame for You

”Well... okay then,” Hen Zhiyuan hesitated for a moment, but ultimately agreed.

He was filled with bitter gloom that had no outlet, and if he could talk to Guan Qing about it, he hoped that her father, the military commander, might take his daughter’s sake into account and possibly lend him some help.

During the first lunar month, the city’s streets were lined with big red lanterns, and people in groups of threes and fives came out to enjoy the lanterns, their laughter occasionally filtering through the car window glass.

Hen Zhiyuan blankly watched the scene, thinking that had he not made that mistake, he would definitely be enjoying the lanterns here with a light heart.

Instead, he was full of worries, anxious about what kind of punishment and discipline he would face.

”Zhiyuan?” Guan Qing glanced at Hen Zhiyuan while driving; the light swiftly flickered across his face, casting his handsome and masculine features into shadows.

She stubbornly loved him just for his appearance, that slightly melancholic and dreamy gaze, which always drew her in, trapping her senses.

For so many years, she had harbored a one-sided love for Hen Zhiyuan.

Finally, after her gradual approach and permeation, his feelings for her resonated, and he began to learn to respond.

”Hmm?” Hen Zhiyuan slowly turned his head and saw Guan Qing looking at him, her eyes smiling, lips curved up slightly, exuding calm and elegance at every turn.

”Why don’t we go to South Street to see the lanterns?”

”That sounds good,” Hen Zhiyuan agreed.

Guan Qing parked the car at the roadside, got out, opened the door from the other side, and extended her hand in an inviting gesture: ”Come on out. Tonight is the last evening of the lanterns. We’re quite lucky to have caught it.”

”If you hadn’t run into me, you probably wouldn’t have come, right?” Hen Zhiyuan’s lips twitched into a forced smile.

”Yes, you can think of it that way,” Guan Qing laughed, her liquid gaze resting on Hen Zhiyuan’s features, ”If it’s for you, I’m willing to do anything.”

A flash of astonishment and gratitude flickered across Hen Zhiyuan’s eyes before he slowly said, ”Qingqing, I don’t deserve all this from you.”

Guan Qing’s lips curved into an enchanting smile: ”It’s not about what’s deserved or not. I’m the kind of person who, once I have my sights set on someone, likes to commit fully. In the world of love, you can’t worry about loss or gain. Zhiyuan, I like you, and I’m willing to go through fire and flame for you.”

Hen Zhiyuan looked at Guan Qing in shock, Ma Mei’s two faces flashing through his mind, and suddenly, he felt a throbbing pain at his temples, his thoughts in turmoil.

He frowned, massaging his temples with an anguished expression.

”Did I make things difficult for you?” Guan Qing crouched down, extending her hand to softly massage his temples, her own fragrance enveloping Hen Zhiyuan’s senses.

As his headache gradually faded, Hen Zhiyuan’s gaze deepened while looking into Guan Qing’s eyes.

”I’m fine now. Let’s go enjoy the lanterns.”

Seeing the conflicted emotion vanish from his eyes, Guan Qing also stood up, her arms lightly wrapping around Hen Zhiyuan’s.

Hen Zhiyuan turned his head, his gaze landing on her hands.

After a moment, he ultimately accepted it.

Guan Qing smiled slightly and began walking. As long as Hen Zhiyuan dared to take this step, what couldn’t she dare to do?

South Street was bustling with people who had come to enjoy the lantern festival.

Colorful lanterns lined both sides of the road, stretching from the beginning to the end of the street. Holding Hen Zhiyuan’s hand, Guan Qing walked on until suddenly, amid the crowd, she spotted a familiar face.
