Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1513: Chapter 1513: Agree to My Terms

Mu Qiankun quickened his pace and sprinted downwards when he heard someone calling for him.

”Boss, why are you running?” Zhao Dong merely wanted to ask for directions, but seeing Mu Qiankun run like a scared rabbit made him think he had frightened him and chased after him, ”Don’t be scared, we’re not bad people. We just want to ask for directions, that’s all.”

Mu Qiankun didn’t want to face him, but couldn’t outrun Zhao Dong so he had no choice but to stop and turn around.

When he saw Zhao Dong’s face, his whole being froze in shock, pupils constricting, heart rate accelerating.

”Boss, what’s wrong with you? Do I look like a ghost? Did I really scare you?” Zhao Dong touched his own face, feeling quite good about himself—he didn’t think he looked menacing at all.

”No... nothing,” Mu Qiankun wiped away a bead of cold sweat and pointed towards the back of the mountain, ”There’s another path over there that’s easier to walk than this one, but it’s a bit more out of the way.”

”I’m not afraid of a longer route. Alright, thanks a lot!” After Zhao Dong bid farewell to Mu Qiankun, he led his troops along the alternate path.

Mu Qiankun, seeing them leave, heaved a sigh of relief and hurried home.

In the courtyard, Lin Sheng, excited about joining the army, was full of energy.

He kept saluting Mu Mian, playing the game of general and soldier: ”Reporting to the commander! Lin Sheng is here to report!”

Mu Mian laughed with a snort: ”Lin Sheng Bro, look at you acting silly! Isn’t it just joining the army? Why are you so happy?”

”This is my dream.” Lin Sheng’s eyes shone as he stared at Mu Mian, ”Mianmian, let’s elope! Pack your things. Let’s go to a place where neither your dad nor mine can find us.”

”Sure. Then you can join the army,” Mu Mian said happily.

”Great!” Lin Sheng said excitedly.

Mu Qiankun heard their conversation, lifted his leg, and kicked the door open with a bang: ”Great my ass!”

Lin Sheng and Mu Mian were shocked into shivers, each with wide-eyed stares at him.

”Lin Sheng, you little bastard really are something, letting you and Mianmian be together was all for the sake of your dad. And now you little punk are thinking of running away with my daughter! I’m telling you, the marriage between you and Mianmian is off now.”

”What? Uncle Mu, you must be joking,” Lin Sheng’s face turned pale with fright.

”I never joke,” Mu Qiankun glared at him menacingly.

”Dad! You can’t do this!” Mu Mian became anxious, ”If you won’t let me be with Lin Sheng Bro, then I’ll... I’ll just die so you can see.”

”Fine. Then go ahead and die, and we’ll see if this lad can still be with you!” Mu Qiankun was not moved by this.

”Dad!” Mu Mian was upset and angry, her tears swirling in her eyes, but they never fell.

Watching his daughter like this pained Mu Qiankun, so he considered and took a step back, ”You can be together, that’s fine, but Lin Sheng must agree to my condition.”

”What condition?”

”Lin Sheng has to work for me!”

Lin Sheng’s eyes widened in shock at Mu Qiankun’s words: ”Are you serious?”

”Serious!”

”Dad! Are you trying to ruin Lin Sheng?” Mu Mian suddenly exclaimed sharply, ”No! I’d rather not marry him than let him work for you!”

”Fine! Then let’s try that! If he dares to join the army, I will make sure you two never see each other for the rest of your lives! I mean what I say!” Mu Qiankun said angrily.

Lin Sheng looked at Mu Mian’s face, more radiant than the peach blossoms of March, and hesitated for a long time.

Finally, he bit his lip and said, ”Give me two days to think about it!”
