Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1181: Chapter 1181: There’s a Problem

”I did want to show you first! But then, an accident happened, didn’t it?” An Ping scratched his head, stealing a glance at An Hao and said cautiously, ”Actually, I didn’t mean to. It was just that night I had too much to drink and then couldn’t control myself and it led to that.”

Who would have thought he’d be so accurate? Just that once, and Niu Shanshan got pregnant.

”Which night did you drink too much? How long has she been pregnant?” An Hao asked.

”That night... at the military district guesthouse,” An Ping uttered hesitantly.

”What?” An Hao remembered, it was last month, the night he and Liu Xiaolian and Erzhuzi went to see her, ”You sure are capable! You’ve watched too many movies, pulling off something like this. You really make me mad.”

”Sis, calm down,” An Ping pointed at her belly, ”Think about my little nephew. Getting angry with me isn’t worth harming your health!”

”All you know is sweet talk!” An Hao gritted her teeth and scolded him.

”What was your partner doing at the military district guesthouse?” Qin Jian, who had been listening for a while, asked.

His question really hit the nail on the head.

”Yeah, what was she doing at the military district guesthouse?” An Hao suddenly realized, ”Could it be that her family has someone in the military?”

”No, her family doesn’t have anyone in the military. It’s her cousin who is in the military!” An Ping explained.

”How old is her cousin?” Qin Jian interjected.

”Are you doing a background check or what? Why does this feel like you’re not discussing marriage with me but interrogating me?” An Ping followed their tangential conversations, unable to get to the main topic, frustrated by all the circles they were going in.

”You must tell me,” Qin Jian insisted.

”Just turned twenty.”

”There’s a problem,” Qin Jian blurted out.

Those three words sent a chill down An Ping’s spine, ”Brother-in-law, don’t scare me. My sister is already unwilling to go through with this marriage. If you add more to it, it’s going to ruin everything for me.”

Qin Jian ignored his comment and stated, ”We have regulations. Apart from immediate family members, ordinary people are generally not allowed to visit the barracks. Not to mention a distant cousin, even a close cousin would be a stretch.”

”So how did she end up staying at the guesthouse?” An Hao wondered.

Moreover, the guesthouse Shanshan was staying at was inside the military district itself.

”I don’t know about that,” An Ping admitted, clueless about military regulations, he just went along with whatever Niu Shanshan said.

”Your partner and her cousin have a problem...” instinct told An Hao, so she voiced her suspicion.

An Ping couldn’t stand it anymore and jumped up from his stool, ”Sis, don’t talk nonsense, okay? What’s the problem, how could there be a problem? You can’t think everybody is that bad.”

”Shut up!” Just as something was about to click in An Hao’s mind, An Ping interrupted her.

”Plus, she is my partner, my future wife! Your future sister-in-law. No one else has said anything yet, how can you sling mud at her like that? If Shanshan hears about this, she’ll be furious with me,” An Ping was utterly frustrated.

It felt like everyone found getting married so easy, so why was it so hard for him?

His partner did not agree initially, and now that she finally did, his sister was blocking it.

”Shanshan?” An Hao mulled over the name, ”Her last name should be Niu, so her full name is Niu Shanshan? Erni must be her nickname, right?”
