Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1178: Chapter 1178: Pick the Blossoms While You Can

”Yeah, indeed irresistible. But someone once said something to me that strengthened my determination to pursue you,”

”What was it?” An Hao was curious.

”’When there are flowers to pluck, pluck them straight away—do not wait till there are no flowers and snap the twig in vain.’” Qin Jian said, ”I thought about it and it made perfect sense. Anyway, if I don’t pick the flower, someone else will. How can such a good woman be taken by another at such a low price? Better I do it.”

”Hahahaha,” An Hao laughed heartily, looking up, ”So it turns out you are the real scoundrel. But I like it...”

”If you like it, show it,” Qin Jian pointed to his own cheek and said, ”Give me a kiss.”

”You rascal,” An Hao said with her mouth, but she still kissed him and then spoke, ”Tonight, I’m going to have An Ping call him over to see what kind of person he really is. You’ll join me in properly vetting him.”

”Do you mean you’re not leaving tonight?” Qin Jian asked.

”Right, I’m not leaving tonight. Before we came back, I already told Mom that if we couldn’t make it back today, she should call and let both the hospital and the military know,” she replied.

”Alright. Then let’s see after tonight about the person An Hao is seeing,” he said.

..........................

Niu Family.

Niu Xiuling was sitting angrily in the main house, pounding the table as she scolded Niu Da, ”What did I tell you before you went? I told you to keep your mouth shut, to keep your mouth shut. Did you take my words as nothing but wind?”

”Wife, you didn’t tell me you were going to ask for so much dowry money. They’re right, our family isn’t trying to sell a daughter for such a large sum. What’s the point?”

In other families, at least they have a son; the dowry received could then be used for the son’s marriage.

He, Niu Da, only had two daughters, Niu Xiaoling and Niu Erni.

What for is bringing so much money back?

He hoped that his daughters would be happy in their marriages, not to have their in-laws look down on them over this matter.

”What do you know? The An family has plenty of money; take it when it’s offered for free,” he had his eye on this aspect of the An family and therefore tried every means to get his daughter married into it.

”But they’re not fools either. How much did the An family agree to give you? That’s their generosity. They wouldn’t be wrong not to agree; tell me, isn’t the amount of money you asked for a bit too much?” Niu Da couldn’t stand his wife’s style.

”You’re always taking sides with others,” Niu Xiuling glared at her husband in anger, ”Go away.”

”You’re being foolish now, right?” Niu Da, also angry at being insulted, said, ”Now that they’ve proposed that the marriage is not going to happen, what are you going to do? You’re even pregnant, what about the child?”

”It’s a compliment to call you honest,” Niu Xiaoling said disdainfully, pointing at her husband’s nose, ”You’re just stupid. Niu Erni is carrying An Ping’s child. An Ping likes Erni so much, how could this not happen? Would he allow Erni to abort the child? Didn’t old An make his stance clear first? He’s more eager, more desperate for the child in Erni’s womb than we are.”

”Sigh,” Niu Da sighed deeply, squatted in the corner to smoke, ”I always feel what you’re doing is not right. If by any chance it really doesn’t happen...”

”There’s no ’if’, this must happen,” Niu Xiuling said through clenched teeth, ”It’s absolutely impossible for me to let Erni go back to that soldier.”
