Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 200: Chapter 199: Just Don’t Like It, No Reason Why

Qin Feng immediately grew irritated, and with a snap, she too placed her chopsticks down and glared at Qin Jian, saying, ”Who are you calling a dog?”

With a lift of his eyelids, Qin Jian’s chilly gaze swept over, and Qin Feng’s fire was instantly extinguished.

She was afraid of nothing in the world except for her brother.

But this brother also cherished her deeply.

So, when he wasn’t angry, she would dare to be reckless and push her luck, but the moment he lost his temper, she would instantly turn into a scaredy-cat.

”Mom, did you see that look Qin Jian gave me? Was he about to eat me?” She turned and grabbed Li Junping’s arm, tattling to Qin Jian.

”Enough. We’re eating, what’s with the quarreling?” Li Junping gave Qin Feng a stern look and said to Qin Jian, ”Why are you quarreling with her? I’ve never seen you so petty before. Hurry up and eat, and then take Yueqin back home.”

Qin Jian put down his chopsticks and stood up to leave: ”I’m heading back to the military base first.”

”Wait for me.” Li Junping chased after him, ”Can’t you show Yueqin some respect? After all, she’s a guest! And another thing, you’re not getting any younger. Aren’t you going to think about finding a partner? Yueqin likes you, and she comes from a good family. Can’t you take it seriously for once?”

Qin Jian turned to look at Li Junping, his voice low, ”Mom, from now on, let me make my own decisions about my life. If Song Yueqin and Qin Feng are just friends, you can keep in touch. But if you’re harboring thoughts about involving me, then give it up.”

His voice reached Song Yueqin’s ears. She nibbled on her chopstick holder, then put down her bowl and chopsticks and followed them out, asking timidly, ”Big Brother Qin, do you not like me? Did I do something wrong? Did I make you angry? Please give me a chance to get to know me, and don’t just listen to An Hao’s side of the story, okay?”

Even at this moment, she didn’t miss the chance to discredit An Hao.

A vein throbbed on Qin Jian’s forehead as he said coldly, ”Yes. I don’t like you. There’s no reason, I just don’t.”

With that, he turned and walked off without looking back.

Song Yueqin stood frozen in place. She hadn’t misheard, had she?

He had straightforwardly said, without a shred of regard for her feelings, that he didn’t like her. There was no reason, he just didn’t!

”This child is talking nonsense...” Li Junping felt so embarrassed, let alone Song Yueqin.

Once she had come to terms with the fact that Qin Jian had indeed outright rejected her, she could no longer stay with her head held high, and she bolted outside, fighting back tears and clenching her teeth.

As a result, as soon as she stepped outside, she slipped and fell flat on her face.

Her palms scraped and raw, Song Yueqin could no longer hold back and sat down on the ground, bursting into sobs.

......

Song Yueqin felt miserable and lived sedately for a while.

The last time she stirred up trouble at school, An Hao had put her in her place, and when she returned to school, she was met with education and criticism from her teachers, who told her to focus more on her studies in the future.

Because, the teachers believed that she had caused trouble due to jealousy of An Hao’s better grades.

For ten consecutive days, Song Yueqin’s mood was extremely low.

Then, within a couple of days, she fell ill again. Zhang Juyun took her to the village doctor, who told her, ”There’s nothing majorly wrong. Just take some medicine and you’ll be fine.”

On their way back, Song Yueqin, dispirited, passed by the entrance of a village resident, Zhang Lao Liu’s home, where she saw the family conducting a ritual of burning paper money.

Inside the house, white cloths were hung, and a few villagers who managed local affairs came out carrying firecrackers to light.

Zhang Juyun was puzzled. She hadn’t heard about anyone in the Zhang Family passing away.

Could it possibly be Zhang Lao Liu himself?
