Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 171: Chapter 170 Dissatisfied with Her Family Background

Qin Feng was talking animatedly when a thin voice came from outside the door, ”Is everyone having a meal?”

She turned her head to see that it was Song Yueqin who had come over. She was wearing a light beige jacket, wrapped in a red scarf around her neck, and her hair had been cut into the short style that was currently most popular.

She didn’t arrive empty-handed; she was holding two jars of canned food, two boxes of luncheon meat, and a bag of pastries that looked quite tempting.

”Yueqin is here!” Qin Feng’s face immediately lit up with a smile.

”Hmm,” she greeted everyone with a smile, her gaze finally resting on Qin Jian’s face, ”Big Brother Qin is also having a meal!”

Qin Jian nodded indifferently, put down his bowl and chopsticks, and stood up, ”I’m full.”

Then he got up and left the table with Jian Ying and Tian Niu.

Song Yueqin, seeing his always cold attitude towards her, couldn’t help but feel a bit uncomfortable.

Li Junping saw that Song Yueqin’s expression was not very good and stepped in to smooth things over, ”He has always been like that since he was young, so cold. Don’t take it to heart.”

”Hmm.” Song Yueqin gave Li Junping a sweet smile, then explained her purpose, ”Remember some time ago when my cousin took a fancy to Qin Feng? She wasn’t interested, and my cousin kept pestering her for a while, upsetting Qin Feng. This time my mom asked me to buy some things and come over to apologize to her.”

As soon as Qin Feng heard that the gifts were for her, she quickly came forward to take them, ”Thank you, Auntie!”

Song Yueqin: ”...”

”So thoughtless!” Li Junping gave Qin Feng a disapproving glance, snatched the gifts from her hands, and returned them to Song Yueqin, ”Take these back, there’s no need to apologize. It’s Fengfeng who’s not blessed with such luck, and you can’t blame Song Fei for that.”

”No, no, no, there’s no reason to take back what’s been given,” Song Yueqin quickly waved her hands in refusal, ”If my mom finds out I took it back, she would definitely beat me. Besides, it’s not much; just accept it, Auntie.”

”That’s so embarrassing,” Li Junping said, seeming embarrassed, but her hands still accepted the offerings.

These items were quite a rarity in the village, not something every household could afford; it seemed the Song family was not short on money.

”Quick, invite the child inside to sit!” Qin Ru Hai stood up, hands clasped behind his back, and walked outside, ”I’ll take a walk; you all chat.”

Li Junping invited Song Yueqin into the house and poured her a cup of water, sitting down with her to chat.

”Auntie, I just heard something about Qin Feng going to propose marriage. Whose family was it about?” Song Yueqin asked when she heard something about it at the door.

”Ha! Just kidding!” Li Junping waved it off, ”It was said to be a proposal from her big brother Qin Jian for the An family.”

Upon hearing this, Song Yueqin’s heart skipped a beat, ”Is Big Brother Qin willing?”

”Qin Feng was willing, he said nothing,” Li Junping said, shaking her head with a smile. ”An Hao is a good child, but her family’s circumstances are too poor... it will lead to many troubles later.”

Relieved at her words, Song Yueqin’s eyes darted around before she added, ”That’s true. I’m classmates with An Hao and am very familiar with her family’s situation. Her family indeed has a lot of troubles. Over the New Year, her stepmother’s whole family would go to her place, mooching off them. The family is already poor; they can’t handle this kind of drain. It’s the same every year!”

Li Junping, already dissatisfied with An Hao’s family circumstances, felt even less pleased after hearing Song Yueqin’s words.

If Qin Jian ended up marrying An Hao, wouldn’t their family be forever without peace?
