Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 172: Chapter 171: I Like Someone Like Brother Qin

”But I think Brother Qin still has some feelings for An Hao,” Song Yueqin threw out such a sentence while Li Junping seemed to be wondering.

”Really?” Li Junping hadn’t noticed.

Her son had always been mature beyond his years since his youth, very rarely spoke, and seldom revealed his own thoughts.

”That’s what I was guessing...” Song Yueqin’s voice carried a tinge of disappointment, and her eyes once again turned towards the photo on the wall.

Her gaze fell on Qin Jian’s photograph, her eyes filled with admiration and worship.

Seeing that expression on Song Yueqin’s face, Li Junping seemed to understand something and said with a smile, though tactfully, ”What’s the matter? Do you really like that photo on the wall?”

When Song Yueqin saw Li Junping teasing her, her face turned slightly red, and she lowered her head, glancing away, ”I admire Brother Qin’s spirited and vigorous appearance. Honestly, I’ve always idolized those who do well in their studies since I was young. I find such people incredibly smart and worthy of admiration...”

Observing the young girl’s demeanor, Li Junping felt she understood more or less what was going on.

She thought so, her son Qin Jian’s looks were ranked at the top in the village after all.

How could he not have admirers!

It was just this dreadful curse of wife-bereavement that really vexed people... sigh...

”Yueqin, you’re about to take your college entrance exam, aren’t you? Do you have any plans for afterward?” Li Junping’s mind became active, and she had some ideas.

”I want to take the college entrance exam. After that, I can go to college. If I don’t get in... well, I will... then I will just find someone to marry... Stay at home, take care of my husband and children, and do some small business to help with the expenses,” Song Yueqin revealed her thoughts to Li Junping in a tactful way.

She felt that when Li Junping looked at her, she was surely comparing her with An Hao.

”Do you think you can get in?” Li Junping asked tentatively.

”Yes!” Song Yueqin said very firmly, ”I have confidence in myself. Only by getting into college can I get closer to an outstanding person like Brother Qin!”

Li Junping understood Song Yueqin’s intentions; she used to worry her son wouldn’t find a suitable wife.

Now it seemed there was no need to worry at all.

Compared to An Hao, Song Yueqin might lack somewhat in looks, but her family background was not bad.

When she had inquired about Song Fei’s family status for her daughter’s marital affairs, she had also asked about Song Yueqin’s family; she was quite satisfied with what she found.

”Yueqin, you know your Brother Qin is a good man with good looks and has a job in the province. Obviously, his future is very bright, but there’s one thing... people say he brings the curse of wife-bereavement...”

Li Junping shared her concerns with Song Yueqin, as the village folks were somewhat aware of her son’s situation.

”Auntie, I don’t believe in that, there’s no such thing as a curse of wife-bereavement. That’s just feudal superstition and shouldn’t be taken seriously...”

”Do you really think that way?” Li Junping looked at her with surprise.

”Of course, would I lie to my aunt?” Song Yueqin paused briefly before continuing slowly, ”If you truly like someone, what could the curse of wife-bereavement really do?”

Her words hit Li Junping right in the heart: ”Oh my, it’s rare for someone your age to see things so clearly. I like a child like you.”

Song Yueqin felt elated inside, yet she adopted a shy demeanor, ”I also hope that my auntie would like me...”

”Like you, like you, I really, really like you!” Li Junping couldn’t stop smiling.

It seemed there was no need to worry about Qin Jian’s wife; even if he couldn’t hope to marry a city wife, Song Yueqin seemed to be a good choice...

At the very least, she was much better than the village girls...
