Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 189: Chapter 189 Are You Jealous?

Seeing Qin Jian at the door after a few days of absence, he had returned from his work on the mountain, still bursting with energy. Although his face seemed expressionless, the relaxation of his brows and the softness of his gaze betrayed the joy in his heart.

An Hao rubbed her eyes, talking to herself, ”Am I hallucinating? No, it shouldn’t be a hallucination!”

”It’s definitely not a hallucination,” Qin Jian said with a slight upward curve at the corners of his mouth, pointing at the threshold, ”May I come in?”

An Hao rolled over to sit up, casually tidied up her messy hair, and retied it into a ponytail with a hairband, smiling at him with mirth in her eyes, ”Come in, since you’re already here...”

She motioned for Qin Jian to sit down and poured him a cup of hot water from the thermos, handing it to him.

”Big Brother Qin, why have you come so late?”

Qin Jian set down the teacup in his hand, looking An Hao directly in the eyes, ”You really are a girl who never ceases to worry people...”

”Ah?” An Hao was startled. Did he know everything that had happened these past few days?

”Is your foot better?” Qin Jian pointed to her injured foot and asked.

”Much better. I can go to school on my own tomorrow,” An Hao said softly, ”Actually, the class leader saw my foot was injured, so that’s why he...”

”Are you explaining to me?” Qin Jian looked at her, his eyebrow raised.

An Hao bit her lower lip, shaking her head, then immediately nodded, took a deep breath, and said, ”Okay, I admit, I’m afraid you’ve misunderstood...”

”Worried I would be jealous?” Qin Jian’s lips curled up into a very slight arc.

An Hao was surprised, as it seemed he was speaking much more than usual tonight.

Seeing Qin Jian waiting for her to answer, An Hao lightly smiled, with two small dimples appearing as she spoke softly, ”Then are you jealous?”

Qin Jian’s smile deepened, and he nodded seriously, ”Jealous.”

Getting the answer she wanted, An Hao felt much happier. Qin Jian, the reserved man, had hardly spoken a few words to her in his previous life, let alone sweet nothings.

Now, he was taking the initiative to speak so much to her. Could this be a sign of a good beginning?

”Mhm. I was worried about you being jealous too,” An Hao said cheerfully, ”But hearing you admit to being jealous makes me even happier!”

”Rest assured, from now on, it can only be others who feel jealous,” Qin Jian said confidently.

An Hao didn’t understand what he meant at first, but after a while, she thoroughly grasped the meaning of his words.

Indeed, this man, as reticent as he was, had the ability to do just that!

”By the way, Big Brother Qin, did you come over so late for something?” An Hao asked.

”Qin Jian.” The words fell from Qin Jian’s thin lips.

”What?” He was always so sparing with his words that An Hao often struggled to keep up with his leaps in thought.

”You called me Qin Jian earlier,” Qin Jian, with slightly squinted eyes, looked at An Hao and said slowly, ”And I, I really like you calling me that.”

”But you’re older than me, isn’t it a bit impolite for me to call you by your name now? I’m not accustomed to it!” An Hao had been calling him Qin Jian silently in her heart; suddenly changing how she addressed him felt so awkward.

Besides, what would other people think if they heard it?

”So, you should start getting used to it earlier,” Qin Jian said with a smile looking at her, ”I’ll give you a chance to practice. Call my name!”

An Hao: ”...” Was she being flirted with by this man, not eloquent but inwardly sly?
