Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 187: Chapter 186: The Accusations of the Villagers

Mr. Li went to the village office to report the situation, and the village head rushed over with the director of women’s affairs.

Seeing Song Yueqin’s aunts cursing at the entrance of Yueqin’s house, all sorts of nasty words like ”little vixen” and ”slut” were being shouted out.

The village head then stepped forward to mediate, ”I’m telling you ladies, how can you talk like that? She’s just a young girl, can you please watch your language?”

His attempt at intervention only angered the already furious women, who then turned on him, ”Who are you calling ’ladies’? You’re the ’lady’ here! Respect women!”

With a wry smile, the village head glanced at Director Yu of the women’s affairs and, feeling helpless, said, ”These are all women here; you deal with this.”

Director Yu smiled, ”Alright, I will handle it. You just watch.”

The village head then rolled himself a cigarette and squatted aside to observe the situation.

”Ladies, what exactly is going on here?” Director Yu inquired.

Song Yueqin’s aunts started speaking all at once, and finally, Director Yu understood what the issue was.

So, she went and knocked on An Hao’s door, ”An Hao, come out and open the door! I want to ask you something.”

An Hao wasn’t foolish; she knew the irate women outside had lost their sense and opening the door would only spell trouble for her.

”Director Yu, it’s true that I fought with Song Yueqin. But it takes two to fight, and she hit me too. They can’t act like she didn’t hit me and just let her aunts come over seeking revenge!”

”An Hao, look, the fight happened, and Yueqin was the one who ended up with more damage. Regardless of whether you’re in the right, the incident started because of you, so you should at least compensate with some money, right?” Director Yu shouted through the door.

”Not compensating! She has her losses, and I have mine. I can’t even read my books or eat my breakfast! I’m bruised all over, I got hurt too.” It’s bad enough that Song Yueqin bullied her, but even her whole family was ganging up on her.

Was there no one in her family to care if she was being bullied?

When the negotiation failed, the Song family cursed outside An Hao’s door all the way until evening.

Zhang Juyun, unable to get money from An Hao, went to An Shuchao’s house, only to be met with Bai Xue’s cold rejection.

Her cursing attracted the attention of the whole village.

An Hao didn’t care, let them curse. The louder, the better.

It was originally just a fight between two people, and now the loser was causing a commotion at her house, the villagers felt no sympathy for Song Yueqin.

Besides, An Hao, who was already kicked out of her home due to the lack of a mother and an uncaring father, was viewed with sympathy by the villagers as a pitiable child.

Seeing Song Yueqin’s family menacingly blocking the door and cursing, they all started to take An Hao’s side.

”Yueqin’s mother, what’s the big deal? Isn’t it normal for kids to argue and fight? Your whole family blocking someone’s door and cursing, isn’t that just blatant bullying?”

”Exactly, right? This child has had such a hard life, no mother and an indifferent father.”

”An Hao is a good kid. Last time my second baby fell and broke his leg, An Hao saw it and took him to the village doctor, treated his wound, and brought him back. She even bought the kid some treats and toys to cheer him up.”

”That’s true!”

That’s how it is with crowds; once one person starts, everyone follows, and they began to blame Song Yueqin’s mother.
