Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 878: Facing The Five

”Why? Why did you refuse my invitation?” Yuan Tianling asked in an irritated and angry tone.

ʼWhat a childish old woman!ʼ Zhang Fei [4] then explained. ”Senior Sister, your realm may be good, but there are no free lunches in this world, and there are few good cultivators. You guys could live there comfortably, but only because of your families or master, right? Meanwhile, I donʼt have a high status like the five of you, and the powerful cultivators there will look down on and suppress me. Thus, I donʼt want to go there, and the best way for me to improve myself is to go on adventures. This way, I can face many things that I havenʼt experienced before, and all those real battles will help me to improve myself.”

”But—”

”Since he has made up his mind, you have to respect this kidʼs decision.” Yuan Tianxie intervened to prevent Yuan Tianling from continuing. ”Furthermore, all of his words are true, and we would never be able to live comfortably in our realm if it werenʼt for our families and master. Honestly, I want to enjoy a free life like him and go on adventures to see many new things, but unfortunately, I canʼt do that, and my family will send people to bring me back if I do that.”

Yuan Tiankong nodded before saying. ”My great-grandfather once told me about many things, including his adventures in the past. Unfortunately, the situation in our realm has changed compared to his era, and we are no longer allowed to go on adventures like him.”

”If we want to go against the rules in our realm, we ourselves will lose and suffer.” Yuan Tianjie added with a gloomy expression.

Yuan Tianhua sighed softly before speaking. ”The only way for us to go adventuring is to reach the 5-Moon Divine Ascension Realm first, but we will never be able to reach that stage in hundreds or thousands of years, and we might need tens of thousands of years or even hundreds of thousands of years to reach it.”

ʼIsnʼt their life too boring? Their current cultivation is already very high, and not many people can fight them in the upper realms, but they live like birds in a cage.ʼ Zhang Fei [4] immediately took out the demon extermination sword. ”The demons will be here soon, and some of them are as strong as the five of you.”

”Do you know our cultivation level?” Yuan Tianling asked him.

”No.” Zhang Fei [4] shook his head. ”Even though I canʼt detect your cultivation, I can distinguish everyoneʼs auras. Those demonsʼ auras are just as strong as yours, so I suspect their strength is on par with yours.”

”Humph! Those demonsʼ aura may be strong, but they wonʼt be able to match our strength.” Yuan Tianling immediately stood up and took out a pair of round chakrams.

Yuan Tianxie and the others also took out their own weapons, but the five of them looked relaxed because they were confident in killing those demons.

”Here they come.”

In a few moments, dozens of demons swarmed them, led by a giant demon with a head like a black dog but a body like a cow. ”You were the ones who killed my subordinates before, right?”

Yuan Tianxie didnʼt reply and attacked him head-on, but the male demon deftly swung his spiked black cudgel toward him, knocking him backward.

Yuan Tianxie and the other four were shocked by the male demonʼs strength and speed, especially since his body was so huge and the gravity in their area was quite heavy, yet he was able to parry his attack and knock him back.

”Hahaha! You weak humans underestimate me, Niu Guo, too much! My body is indeed huge, yet I excel in both physical strength and speed cultivation. Moreover, my true cultivation is at the 1-Moon Divine Ascension Realm, so you guys wonʼt be able to defeat me with your cultivation still at the Divine Ascendant Realm.” The male demon then looked at Zhang Fei [4]. ”Were you the one who used that lotus technique?”

”What if I used that technique?” Zhang Fei [4] asked with a calm smile.

”You must die.” However, Niu Guoʼs face turned to shock as soon as Zhang Fei [4] disappeared from his sight. ”Hmm?”

Just like Niu Guo, Yuan Tianxie and the other four also tried to search for Zhang Fei [4]ʼs whereabouts, but they couldnʼt sense his presence in the slightest, as if he had disappeared into the earth.

”Damn it! I didnʼt expect a weak ant like him to have such a swift speed!” A black-red aura suddenly enveloped Niu Guoʼs body, and the demons surrounding the five cultivators experienced a significant increase in strength, prompting Yuan Tianxie and the others to increase their vigilance. ”Kill them!”

*Splurt*

*Bam*

”Arghh.” Niu Guo let out a roar filled with pain as his right arm was suddenly severed, causing black blood to gush out from the cut. In the next second, his left arm was also severed. ”Arghh!”

Yuan Tianxie and the others were stunned to see that, but they then looked at Zhang Fei [4], who had reappeared behind Niu Guo with his sword stained with the blood of the demon.

”You talk too much.” Zhang Fei [4] punched Niu Gao in the back of the head, causing him to stagger before falling forward.

*Bam*

After they avoided Niu Gao, Yuan Tianxie and the others immediately moved to attack his subordinates. Without their leaderʼs support, the demons were overwhelmed by their attack power and speed, and some of them quickly fell lifeless to the ground.

”Argh!” Niu Gao once again let out a painful groan as Zhang Fei [4] chopped off both of his legs, leaving his lower area drenched in his blood. ”Who the fuck are you? How can you attack me with such a low cultivation?”

Zhang Fei [4] threw the demon extermination sword, which immediately pierced Niu Gaoʼs body and shattered his cultivation core, causing his cultivation to quickly disappear.

Zhang Fei [4] then landed in front of the male demon and touched his head. ”Your body is strong, but my sword is the nemesis of demons.”

”Argh!” Niu Gao groaned in pain as soon as Zhang Fei [4] used all three absorption techniques simultaneously. ʼFuck! He absorbed my demon power, life force, and soul power!ʼ

The five cultivators from the Sovereign Heaven Realm, who were fighting Niu Gaoʼs subordinates, immediately turned to look at Zhang Fei [4]. They immediately noticed his actions, making them think that he was a heretic cultivator.

In just a few minutes, Niu Gao had already died in Zhang Fei [4]ʼs hands with his entire body dried up.

[You gained 30,000,000 demon essences from Niu Gao.]

At the same time, Yuan Tianxie and the other four had already killed all of Niu Gaoʼs subordinates, and they immediately surrounded Zhang Fei [4] with their weapons pointed at him.

Zhang Fei [4] didnʼt think much about them and pulled out the demon extermination sword. ”Do you guys want to be my enemy?”

”Are you a heretic cultivator, little fox?” Yuan Tianling asked with a trembling voice.

”Righteous or evil depends on each individualʼs perception. I constantly have to go through life-and-death battles, unlike the five of you who have always lived in cages and under the protection of your families. Therefore, I have to use whatever means necessary to survive, including using the techniques of the heretics.” Zhang Fei [4] then pointed his sword at them. ”You guys are strong, but you should have realized that I am not a weak persimmon. If all of you consider me an enemy and want to attack me, then I will serve you, but I promise, you will regret your decision.”

Yuan Tianxie stared at Zhang Fei [4] for some time before lowering his weapon and walking away. ”Letʼs go! We must continue our journey.”

Yuan Tianjie and the other two immediately followed Yuan Tianxie, but Yuan Tianling was still standing at her spot and looking at Zhang Fei [4] complicatedly. She wanted to take him with her, but his action of using a heretic technique just now disappointed her.

”Tianling!”

Yuan Tianling immediately ran after the other four, but she repeatedly looked back at Zhang Fei [4]. He paid no attention to her and went through another path, catching up with Feltia [2], who was already quite far ahead.

[Master, I detected something from Yuan Tianlingʼs body.]

ʼHmm? What did you detect from that womanʼs body?ʼ

[A flame.] Zhang Fei [4] raised an eyebrow slightly. [If Iʼm not mistaken, the flame should be the Sky Flame, but itʼs not the original one, and itʼs just a fragment of it.]

ʼA fragment of the Sky Flame, huh? Do you think I can get it from her, Mei?ʼ

[I donʼt think you can do it, Master. Yuan Tianling only has a tiny fragment of the Sky Flame, and you have to find the original one to get the flame, so you still have to go to the Sovereign Heaven Realm.]

Zhang Fei [4] nodded in understanding. ʼIʼll think about that later, and Iʼll focus on getting the Earth Flame first. However, the situation will not be easy, especially since Yuan Tianxie and the others might attack me once I get it. Not to mention, there are still many powerful fire cultivators in this place, and they all have strong ambitions to get it.ʼ

[Well? You have many escape techniques, and you can move 500 miles in one fell swoop using the nine cloud steps, so I donʼt think you need to worry about them.]

ʼWe donʼt know the abilities of those people yet, so we canʼt underestimate them. If any of them have the void element, that person might be able to capture me, so I still have to be careful of them.ʼ After that, Zhang Fei [4] increased his speed while teleporting again and again.

Sometime later, many people arrived at the location of the previous battle, and they immediately looked for their footprints. After they found it, they immediately went in that direction, which was the direction the five cultivators from the Sovereign Heaven Realm had gone.

”Are we really going to let that kid go, Tianxie?” Yuan Tiankong asked.

Yuan Tianjie also spoke to him. ”No matter what his reasons are, he has become a heretic once he uses their technique, so I think we should get rid of him before he gets any stronger.”

Yuan Tianling wanted to refute them, but Yuan Tianhua immediately stopped her and shook her head. ʼI know you want that kid by your side, but he is a heretic. If our master and the others find out that you contradict our brothers because of a heretic, they will send you to the Soul Withering Valley to punish you, so you should not say anything and try to forget him.ʼ

ʼI know.ʼ Yuan Tianling nodded slightly, but her expression was full of disappointment.

”Are you two still not aware of that kidʼs abilities and experience?” Yuan Tianxie stopped walking and looked at them. ”That kid is much weaker than us in matters of cultivation, but he is much more experienced than us in life and death battles. That demon is stronger than us, and we wonʼt be able to defeat him even if we join forces to attack him. However, that kid managed to outwit him and cut off his arms without him having time to react, showing that his speed far surpasses ours. He didnʼt even hesitate to challenge us even though he already knew a little about our identities, which means that he had faced cultivators far stronger than him far too many times. I wanted to kill him because he was a heretic, but we would be the ones to die if we fought him, so I chose to back down.”

Yuan Tiankong and Yuan Tianjie nodded in understanding at him, but one of them immediately asked again. ”What are we going to do later? Are we going to run away again if he manages to get the Earth Flame? That kid clearly wants to find the flame, and our master requires us to bring it back, so we will face him again up there.”

”Hmm?” Yuan Tianxie thought seriously as he looked at the mountain peak. ”I canʼt decide now, especially since that kid may not be able to get the Earth Flame. Moreover, we are not the only group that wants to get the flame, and there are many others besides us. If he manages to get it, those people will definitely gang up on him. Perhaps we can take advantage of the situation, and we will kill him when the opportunity arises.”

Listening to their conversation, Yuan Tianling clenched both her fists and bit her lower lip. Even though she didnʼt like the fact that Zhang Fei [4] was a heretic, she still didnʼt want him to die, and she immediately sent a voice transmission to warn him about her three brothers.

”Day will turn into night soon, so we should continue our journey, and we should find a place to take shelter.” Yuan Tianxie immediately led them up again.

ʼWhat exactly do you need from these beasts?ʼ Zhu Lingyao asked as she approached Zhang Fei [5].

Zhang Fei [5] turned to Zhu Lingyao. ”Their beast cores can be used for alchemy, and their body parts can be sold or cooked.”

ʼCooked? Do you have a restaurant business?ʼ

”Yeah.” Zhang Fei [5] nodded at Zhu Lingyao. ”I havenʼt told you that I have several restaurants in several realms, and their number will continue to increase in the future. Moreover, my restaurants are always full, so I have to supply them with beast meat every day. Unfortunately, not all beast meat is delicious, and some beast parts also cannot be sold.”

Zhu Lingyao released a soft sigh. ʼAs a beast, I find it quite frustrating watching you kill them, especially since you kill thousands of them every day.ʼ

”I understand how you feel.” Zhang Fei [5] pulled Zhu Lingyao into a hug. ”You better not follow me when I hunt beasts, or you will continue to feel like this.”

Zhu Lingyao simply nodded before asking. ʼAre you going to make a move against those assassins now?ʼ

ʼYeah.ʼ Zhang Fei [4] glanced in several directions. ʼLong Jishan and Long Jinwu have been monitoring us since earlier, so I hope you can block them, and I will take care of those assassins myself.ʼ

ʼI actually didnʼt want to get involved in this matter, but they must have thought that I have a relationship with you.ʼ Zhu Lingyao immediately broke free from Zhang Fei [5]ʼs embrace and disappeared from his sight.

Meanwhile, Zhang Fei [5] stood casually with the moonlit whisper sword in his hand. ”Are you two still unwilling to come out? I have known of your presence since the Phoenix Clan, so you donʼt need to bother hiding.”

Soon, two male assassins appeared in front and behind Zhang Fei [5] with daggers in their hands, but he smiled casually seeing their murderous expressions and killing intents. The two exchanged glances for a moment before dashing towards him and attacking him directly, but their attacks passed through his body, which was merely an illusion.

*Swoosh... Swoosh...*

Thorny tree branches suddenly emerged from the ground and tied the legs of the two male assassins, but they quickly cut them down and flew into the sky.

*Slash... Slash...*

”Argh!” The two male assassins screamed in pain after their backs were slashed by the swords, and they immediately thrust their daggers backwards, but only hit empty air.

Zhang Fei [5] appeared not far from them with the Hellflame Frost Lotus circling above his palm. ”Take my attack.”

”Shit!” The two male assassins hastily flew away as soon as the Hellflame Frost Lotus shot towards them, and it immediately exploded a few moments later.

*Boom*
