Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 287: Zhang Chenʼs Past

The two tigresses, who were chasing Quan Xun, immediately ran towards Zhang Fei. However, they no longer pounced on him as they used to, likely due to their larger bodies. Instead, they rubbed their heads against his legs in a spoiled manner.

”Haha.” Zhang Fei laughed, then squatted down in front of them, embracing their necks and rubbing their fur. ”The growth of the two of you is truly amazing, Hu Yi and Hu Er. You guys are only two months old now, but you are already as big as ordinary tigers in my home realm.

Moreover, your cultivation has also reached the 1-Star Body Realm, and you will continue to grow stronger thanks to the effects of the three pills you swallowed before.”

*Roar*

Both tigresses roared softly before licking Zhang Feiʼs cheeks at the same time to show their gratitude to him, especially since he had saved them after their mother died, and he had also given them many precious items, especially the beast pills.

”Hah... Hah...*

Zhang Fei immediately looked up at his cousin, who looked so exhausted. However, he was satisfied to see the changes in Quan Xun, especially since his body was no longer as fat as it was a month and a half ago and his cultivation had reached the 5-Star Elementary Realm. ”How do you feel now? Have you gotten more used to your life as a cultivator?”

”Hah... Hah...” Quan Xun immediately bent forward with his hands supporting his body on his shoulders, and he looked at Zhang Fei to respond. ”At first, my new life was really hard, but Iʼve gotten used to everything now. Thanks to these tigresses, I can gradually change myself, but I know that my changes now are still not enough, so I have to work harder to become as strong as you, cousin.”

”Your mindset is on the right track if you can think like that.” Zhang Fei then stood up and patted Quan Xunʼs shoulder. ”The life of a cultivator is truly not easy, and strength is everything. If you possess strength, you can safeguard both yourself and your mother. Conversely, if you lack power, those with greater strength will oppress you.

However, cultivating is like building a house; you canʼt become strong overnight, and you must pay attention to the foundation of your cultivation. If your cultivation is high but your foundation is weak, you will be the one who loses, so you must continue to stabilize your foundation every time you break through.”

”Yeah, youʼre right, Cousin.” Quan Xun replied with a nod. Agreed. ”Aunt Qingyu has also explained this to me many times, and I will definitely remember your advice. Anyway, can I join your sect, Cousin?”

”Oh?” Quan Xunʼs request momentarily surprised Zhang Fei. ”Do you know what kind of sect the Yin-Yang Pavilion is?”

Quan Xun nodded to Zhang Fei. ”Aunt Qingyu said that it is a dual cultivation sect, and she also explained to me about dual cultivators, so I more or less understand the gist of it. In addition, she provided me with an overview of the sectʼs operations, including its missions and other activities, which has sparked my interest in joining.

This way, I can develop at a faster pace, just like you, and acquire experience at a younger age.”

Zhang Fei let out a soft sigh before asking Quan Xun. ”Do you really want to become a dual cultivator like me? Have you discussed this matter with Aunt Tan?”

”Haha.” Upon hearing his questions, Quan Xun laughed wryly while rubbing the back of his head. ”Actually, I have discussed this matter with my mother, and she initially did not agree to me becoming a dual cultivator, especially since she wanted me to find a good woman who would be loyal only to me.

However, I did not want to give up so easily, so I asked for help from Aunt Qingyu and Grandma Chen to convince her. Moreover, she could see for herself that your wives are good women, and they are also completely loyal to you, so she finally agreed with my decision.”

”I see.” Zhang Fei nodded in understanding. ”Since you have already made your decision, I can send you to the Yin-Yang Pavilion. However, since your cultivation is still in the elementary realm, you are likely to be an outer disciple. Once your cultivation reaches the core realm, you will advance to the inner disciple.

Anyway, I will give you a pretty good dual cultivation technique, so you donʼt have to worry about that, especially since your cultivation will increase faster once you get a partner.”

Although Quan Xun was his cousin, Zhang Fei still wouldnʼt share the Yin-Yang Flawless Arts with him, and he would only share it with his women, so he immediately asked the AI to buy another technique. ʼMei, you can buy that dual cultivation technique.ʼ

[Yes, master.]

{You got Spiritual Couple Cultivation x1}

{1,000,000 red jewels have been deducted from your balance.}

After the technique appeared in his mind, Zhang Fei immediately shared it with Quan Xun, which made him very excited. ”As for your first partner, I might be able to help you find a suitable woman. However, we canʼt do it now, especially since the situation in the Yin-Yang Pavilion will be chaotic soon, so Iʼll take you there after the chaos has subsided.

For now, focus on studying the technique, but donʼt neglect cultivation and training.”

”Donʼt worry, Cousin. I will definitely not neglect my cultivation and training.” Quan Xun replied with a serious nod. ”Anyway, thank you for the technique, and I will go to my room to study it now.”

The two tigresses immediately followed Quan Xun away, especially since Zhang Fei asked them to keep an eye on his cousin in training, and she then hurried to her grandmotherʼs room because Zhang Chen was resting there.

*Knock... Knock...*

”Come in, Feiʼer.” Zhang Chen, who was leaning on the bead headrest, immediately asked her grandson. ”Why are you back here? Are your matters in the Yin-Yang Pavilion finished?”

”Not yet.” Zhang Fei then sat down on the side of the bed and began to massage his grandmotherʼs feet, causing Zhang Chen to smile at her concern for him. ”Yuʼer and Shen Tianyuʼs wedding ceremony will be in six days, so I still have a lot of time. Moreover, I have something to talk to you about, so I purposely came back to see you.”

”What do you want to talk to me about?”

As he continued to massage his grandmotherʼs feet, Zhang Fei turned to Zhang Chen. ”Can you tell me the reason behind your decision to use your surname for your son?”

”Why are you suddenly asking that? I already said-”

”Grandma, you donʼt have to lie to me anymore, and I know that my grandfather is still alive.” Zhang Chen instantly stiffened after Zhang Fei said that. ”Have you forgotten the ability of my demon eyes? Honestly, I didnʼt want to use it on you or the others, but I have long been curious about your decision.

Moreover, despite your constant claims that my grandfather passed away before you gave birth to Aunt Hanzi, you have never shown us his photo and have consistently changed the subject whenever we inquired about him. Even Zhang Hai and Aunt Hanzi have never seen his photo, so I decided to use my demon eyes ability on you, and I discovered many things that you had hidden in your soul.”

After a while, Zhang Chen came back to her senses and let out a heavy sigh. She pulled Zhang Fei closer to her, then rubbed his cheeks. ”You are right; your grandfather is still alive, but I havenʼt seen him for a long time, and the last time we met was when your father was born.

Even so, you should have heard of his name because he is one of the famous people in our country, and his name is Wang Zetian.”

”Eh?” Zhang Fei was shocked after hearing the name. ”You mean Wang Zetian, the most influential person in our country? That old manʼs popularity and authority surpass Yang Hao and Huang Rong.”

”Yes.” Zhang Chen nodded at Zhang Fei. ”When we first met, Wang Zetian was not as rich or influential as he is now, and he was just starting his steps in politics. However, his Wang family was already wealthy at the time, and he was their main heir.”

”How did you meet him, Grandma?” Zhang Fei curiously asked Zhang Chen. ”After all, you have always lived in the village, and you only go to the city when you help my late great-grandparents sell their crops, right?”

”Thatʼs right.” Zhang Chen nodded with a smile as she recalled those times. ”I was 18 years old at the time, and Wang Zetian was already 30 years old. He came to our village to seek support from the villagers to become the provincial head, especially since our village was included in that region, and I met him for the first time at that time.”

”Then?”

Zhang Chen smiled at Zhang Feiʼs impatient expression. ”Wang Zetian was a handsome man, and his demeanor was kind and intellectual; so many women from our village dreamed of him as their husband, including me.

Back then, I was still too innocent and naive, so I quickly fell in love with him, especially after he visited our village repeatedly and established a positive relationship with the villagers.”

”Did Wang Zetian try to get closer to you at that time?”

”Haha.” Zhang Chen giggled as she nodded, especially since those were such beautiful times for a young girl like her. ”You naturally know that this old granny was one of the most beautiful girls in our village at that time, right?”

”Hahaha!” Zhang Fei burst out laughing after hearing Zhang Chenʼs narcissistic remarks, but then he kissed her forehead. ”Even though youʼre seventy years old now, youʼre still as beautiful as ever, Grandma. Otherwise, I, Linʼer, and Big Sis Yue wouldnʼt be as handsome and beautiful as we are now, right?”

”Yes, you three are indeed handsome and beautiful, and you have a plethora of beautiful wives now.” Zhang Chen then recounted her story again. ”After numerous meetings and Wang Zentianʼs persistent courtship, I finally fell deeply in love with him, immediately accepting his proposal. Unfortunately, my blinded feelings led me to make a grave mistake by sleeping with him before we got married.”

Zhang Fei frowned after hearing Zhang Chenʼs last sentence, and her disappointed expression made him angry. ”Did Wang Zetian leave you right after you two slept together?”

”No.” Zhang Chen denied it, shaking her head. ”After that day, my relationship with Wang Zetian got better and better each day, and your late great-grandparents also approved of our relationship. Since his political career had just begun, we didnʼt immediately tie the knot. However, this didnʼt bother me, as we continued to cherish our time together, patiently waiting for the ideal moment to marry.

Unfortunately, things became complicated when I turned 19, as I was pregnant with his son, and he took me to visit his family to seek their blessings.”

Zhang Fei frowned even more after he heard that. ”The result was that Wang Zetianʼs family rejected you, right?”

”Yes.” Zhang Chen answered with a sigh of disappointment. ”Wang Zetianʼs parents strongly opposed our relationship because I was just a village girl and didnʼt have a high education, so they thought I wasnʼt worthy to be their daughter-in-law.

Even so, he persevered and fought for our relationship, but his efforts came to a dead end when his father threatened to withdraw all his support and erase his name from their family tree.”

”Then what happened after that?”

Before continuing, Zhang Chen let out a heavy sigh. ”Although he did not approve of our relationship, Wang Zetianʼs father, Wang Jingwei, never insulted me at all and still treated me well. However, Wu Meihong, his wife, continued to insult me and even offered me a substantial sum of money in exchange for my willingness to leave her son and abort my pregnancy.

However, I refused to accept the money and promptly left their house to return to the village. Upon my arrival, I thoroughly explained the situation to your late great-grandparents, who expressed their deep disappointment. Even so, they forbade me from having an abortion, and they were the ones who helped me through my situation.”

”Did Wang Zetian still see you at that time?”

”Yes.” Zhang Chen nodded at him. ”Actually, Wang Zetian helped us silence the villagers who were insulting our family because of my pregnancy, and he continued to provide a lot of help until our sonʼs birth a year later.

In fact, Wang Jingwei also helped us by generously providing a substantial sum of money for our sonʼs needs, which I gratefully accepted due to the challenging circumstances of our time. Since I never married him, I decided to name our son Zhang Hai, and I never met them again after that.”

Zhang Fei nodded thoughtfully after Zhang Chen finished telling him everything. ”Do you want to meet Wang Zetian again, Grandma?”

”Eh?” Zhang Chen looked at her grandson in surprise.

”Grandma, I know that you still love Wang Zetian until now; otherwise, you wouldnʼt have decided to live alone after giving birth to Zhang Hai, and you would have married someone else. If you want to see him, I will take you back to Earth to do so.” Zhang Fei then took out two pills that he had bought earlier and put the youthful returning pill in Zhang Chenʼs mouth.

”However, you have to swallow these two pills first, and Iʼll take you to see him afterwards.”
