Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1899: Chapter 1901: Afraid We’ll Be Worlds Apart Forever

Qi Taiguo placed a bowl of noodles in front of Cheng Su and said, ”It’s not as good as when you cook, but it should at least fill you up?”

A simple bowl of plain noodles with only two greens and a poached egg, sprinkled with a few scallions, Cheng Su mechanically picked up the chopsticks, picking up the noodles to eat.

Qi Taiguo breathed a sigh of relief and said, ”Do you remember? Back then, when I came back from a mission, you also brought me a bowl of plain noodles. I remember that taste, it felt heartwarmingly good. Susu, thank you.”

Cheng Su’s hand paused, and she looked up. Seeing his cautious and ingratiating manner, her heart ached, and her nose turned sour.

”Don’t cry, I promise, I’ll come back safe and sound, not a hair missing. I promise you, I’ll stay with you until we become old, toothless grandparents,” Qi Taiguo raised his right hand, ”I swear on my name as a soldier.”

Cheng Su sniffed, turned her head, forcing back the tears that were about to well up, wiped the corner of her eyes, and continued to eat the noodles.

”How long will you be gone?” After finishing the noodles, Cheng Su looked at him and asked calmly.

”About half a year or seven to eight months,” Qi Taiguo said, ”If longer, maybe a year, depending on the orders from the superiors.”

”So, you’re saying that this year, or maybe a year, I won’t be able to hear from you, whether you’re alive or dead?” Cheng Su said, ”And you won’t be able to call back to assure me of your safety?”

Qi Taiguo pursed his lips and nodded, saying, ”If anything happens, the unit will...”

”Don’t say it!” Cheng Su raised her hand, clutching the collar in front of her chest, ”I’m begging you, don’t say it!”

If there were any mishaps or accidents, he wouldn’t need to call back, someone would naturally inform her, or maybe there wouldn’t even be a need to inform, if he were to sacrifice, he might just appear directly with a body or ashes.

Cheng Su didn’t want to hear such news, nor did she want to imagine such scenes. Just thinking about it made her heartache and uncomfortable.

”Susu.” Qi Taiguo reached out to hold her hand, finding it very cold, he held it with his hand.

”You should think about how to tell your parents about this, the old folks are getting old.” Cheng Su tried to withdraw her hand, but he held tighter.

Qi Taiguo said, ”With you like this, how can I feel at ease leaving?”

Her reaction made him very uneasy.

Cheng Su laughed bitterly, ”A husband’s going to battle, the return path unknown, whether he can return is even more uncertain. How do you expect me to smile and see you off, Qi Taiguo, how can I do that?”

Qi Taiguo walked over, held her in his arms, patting her back.

”If I could, I’d lock you up, not letting you go, but is that possible?” Cheng Su didn’t want to cry, but tears just fell, she said, ”I can’t smile, I’m scared!”

Afraid that this parting would be forever, afraid that he would never return, afraid of being worlds apart when so close.

She loves him, he’s the most important person in her life.

”Don’t be afraid. I’ll be back soon,” Qi Taiguo said.

Cheng Su cried silently.

Qi Taiguo slightly pushed her away and looked at her, asking, ”In your past life, did you not know me at all?”

Cheng Su was startled, tears hanging on her eyelashes.

”The woman who pulled you downstairs is the present you, meaning this body. At that time, she was a VIP at the hotel where you worked. Did she have a husband, didn’t you know?” Qi Taiguo said, ”If she was a noblewoman back then, it was either because she had her own confidence or because of her husband’s status, which is me, so I’m saying I won’t be in trouble, right?”

Cheng Su was stunned.
