Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1864: Chapter 1866: Will He Only Stop Once We’re Completely Eliminated?

People are selfish, and Shen Rong is proud and values the wealth he has created with his own hands.

If he were alone, losing some things would be acceptable—he could always start over. Over the years, he’s relied on this belief to keep going.

But things are different now. He’s older, with one foot in the grave, and there’s a whole family behind him, children and grandchildren relying on him, watching him eat. His actions and thoughts can no longer be impulsive, or else one wrong move could lead to many more mistakes.

Today, in Chiang Tian’s office, he mentioned that if the Ning Family still could not be relied on, they should consider turning to others and changing their path. It seemed like a good idea.

However, after meeting Ning Ge, Shen Rong began to doubt if his mind was clouded, wondering if he made a rash decision and shouldn’t have considered standing up to the Ning Family.

The Ning Family, standing proud in the Capital with great power, must have their foundation, otherwise that kid wouldn’t act so arrogantly.

People become arrogant when they have the capital and capability, and Ning Ge’s arrogance isn’t merely that of a dissolute scion—Shen Rong can see that he has the means.

Lin Biao considered his words carefully, hesitating to speak.

”What, have you learned to be so hesitant?” Shen Rong laughed.

Lin Biao also laughed: ”I’m just afraid what I say might upset you.”

”Go ahead and say it!”

”Actually, our Shen Family is doing proper business here, staying in line, walking the right path, and haven’t offended or infringed on anyone’s interests, nor made enemies—but why can’t we move forward?” Lin Biao shot him a glance, saying: ”The eldest told me that Ning Ge made it clear that as long as the Third Mistress is around, he won’t cooperate with the Shen Family or offer any opportunities.”

”What? He couldn’t find support with me, so he turned to you?” Shen Rong sneered: ”Is that all he can do? Can’t even tolerate a woman? Or is the main wife unable to hold her ground?”

It’s normal for women to be jealous, but in Shen Rong’s view, a man shouldn’t be unable to overlook a woman. To achieve great things, one should have their own resoluteness. If one can’t handle a matter and blames it on women, that’s incompetence.

He’s always thought that his eldest son, Shen Qizheng, is indecisive, ambitious but lacking capability, so hearing Lin Biao’s words made him a bit angry.

Lin Biao has known him for decades, knew he was angry, and quickly said: ”The eldest doesn’t mean that, he was just passing on Ning Ge’s words. I originally thought he was making a big deal out of it, standing up for the main house, since indeed you have been quite favoring the Third Madam.”

Shen Rong said nothing, only to write forcefully.

Lin Biao glanced at him and continued: ”But looking at today, Young Master Ning Ge really can’t stand the Third Madam, otherwise, how could he publicly insult and criticize her? Besides, they’re political enemies. If the Third Madam is right, and he’s targeting her for the sake of someone he likes, that’s possible.”

”So this Fourth Young Master Ning is acting quite whimsically, taking out his anger over a romantic affair?” Shen Rong laughed abruptly.

”Young people, full of passion,” Lin Biao also laughed.

Shen Rong pursed his lips and said: ”So he’s specifically targeting my Third Mistress all the time? Just for personal vendettas. If I don’t express my stance, he’ll never let go of old grudges? Just for a woman, and he wants to chase it down to completion?”
