Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1870: Chapter 1872: Ignorance

Cheng Su knew she should be grateful that her in-laws were helping her raise her child, but gratitude was one thing—there were some things she would never obey or compromise on, especially when it concerned her son. Now hearing about the Talisman Water, her hairs stood on end, and her eyes sharpened, like a lioness protecting her cubs, glaring at Mother Qi.

”Mom, what’s going on? What kind of Divine Talisman Water is this?” she tried to keep her voice calm.

This wasn’t what she thought, right? She had heard and seen some people who were superstitious, giving their children Talisman Water to ensure health or ward off evil spirits, wasn’t that just nonsense?

Could Mother Qi have succumbed to such superstitious ideas?

Faced with Cheng Su’s questioning, though it was just a simple question, Mother Qi’s heart was trembling slightly, looking to her husband for help.

No wonder she was scared; her daughter-in-law was always strong-minded, never believing in gods and ghosts, and you could tell from the absence of an incense burner at home. Back in the hometown, she would comply to worship a deity, which was considered giving face.

But she would never allow her grandson to drink Talisman Water, even though she believed it was beneficial and wouldn’t harm anyone.

And then there’s Xiao Qi, he...

Mother Qi looked at her grandson with a complex expression—smart, yes, but also too clever, and always siding with his mother.

Upon receiving the plea for help from his wife, Father Qi first glared at Mother Qi, his gaze saying: You deserve it.

Mother Qi shrank, instinctively moving to Father Qi’s side.

”Dad?” Cheng Su looked at her father-in-law.

Her father-in-law was always an open-minded and sensible person, surely he wouldn’t be this ignorant, indulging the mother-in-law, right?

She hoped her father-in-law wouldn’t disappoint her.

”Well...” Father Qi awkwardly curled his lips and said, ”Your mother-in-law, she was just momentarily confused, went to a temple with the compound residents, and begged for some Spirit Talisman, saying it was good for health, and then...”

Cheng Su’s anger surged, glaring at Mother Qi, she said, ”Mom, I’ve said several times, you can’t give Xiao Qi unknown, messy things, right? Those home remedies can’t be eaten indiscriminately, and even more so for Talisman Water, that’s absolutely untouchable. Why did you...”

Truly ignorant!

”He didn’t drink it, Xiao Qi didn’t drink it,” Father Qi immediately said, ”He didn’t want to drink it, kept crying and fussing, even spilled it.”

Cheng Su looked at Qi Xiaoqi, using her eyes to ask her son.

”It was dirty, I wouldn’t drink it,” Qi Xiaoqi said, ”Grandpa went to buy groceries, she wanted me to drink it, even said I was possessed by ghosts.” Saying this, he showed a grievance expression, playing with his little fingers, ”Mom, what does possessed by ghosts mean?”

”While I was out buying groceries, she acted foolishly, and Xiao Qi really didn’t drink a bit.” Father Qi glared at Mother Qi again.

Mother Qi lowered her head, not daring to look at Cheng Su, standing like a child who did something wrong, cowering without a word.

Cheng Su looked at her son again, Qi Xiaoqi shook his head, she then looked at Mother Qi and said, ”Mom, all these talismans are fake. When adults drink it, or if it’s just a piece of paper, children have weak stomachs, if they drink it, their immune system doesn’t work well, and the stomach can have big problems, serious ones could even lead to death.”

Mother Qi’s body trembled, she raised her head, ”How could it be, people don’t die from drinking these, many have drunk...” she stopped when meeting Cheng Su’s glare.

Cheng Su said, ”I’ll say it again, absolutely do not let Xiao Qi eat anything unknown, including things from strangers, especially any Spirit Talisman.”

”Definitely not, we will be careful,” Father Qi immediately said, nudging Mother Qi, ”Right?”

Mother Qi pouted in grievance, ”Understood.”
