Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1882: Chapter 1884: No One Was Absent

Cheng Su looked at the big hand holding hers, a smile persistently lingering on her lips, and her heart felt as sweet as if it were filled with honey.

”Why are you so happy?” Qi Taiguo noticed her genuine smile, squeezed her hand, and thought it was truly the right decision to come out with her.

Cheng Su nodded and said, ”Come to think of it, this seems to be the first time we’ve gone to the market hand in hand to buy groceries!”

Both of them were busy, and with Qi Taiguo in the army, it was rare enough for him to be home, let alone go grocery shopping.

”It’s my schedule that doesn’t allow it, and I’ve not been able to be with you. All these years, you’ve been managing the household, wife, it’s been hard on you.” Qi Taiguo took her hand to his lips and kissed it.

Cheng Su gave him a sideways glance and said, ”Actually, I could have gone shopping with my niece. You just got back, you should rest at home and chat with your parents. Didn’t you see the look in your mom’s eyes? So wistful.”

Qi Taiguo said, ”We live apart, and our time together is so very limited. Now that we’re finally reunited, of course, I want to spend more time with you.”

”Sweet talker.”

”Alright, I want you to spend more time with me,” Qi Taiguo said with a smile. ”There are so many people at home, and during these New Year’s days, I don’t know when we’ll find peace. We have so little space to be alone together.”

He’s really stealing a moment whenever he can!

Cheng Su thought about it and found it true. Compared to the noise of a big family together, she preferred to have more space for just the two of them.

Couples with kids and family barely have any time alone together—such time is too precious.

Cheng Su decided not to dwell on the topic and talked to him about day-to-day matters.

”...The old man recommended Zhan Qin to us, he’s talented, and I don’t want to waste that. So I let him follow me for now, managing the Seafood Shop, but I also want him to take care of things here for me,” Cheng Su brought up Zhan Qin.

Since Zhan Qin was a man working closely with her, she thought it necessary to discuss it with Qi Taiguo to avoid any future misunderstandings or malicious gossip that could affect their marital relationship.

”Oh, that’s good, it’ll lighten your load a bit.” Qi Taiguo never made useless comments about her work.

”Yes, once the staff is trained, when the business expands, I won’t have to worry about having no help,” Cheng Su said.

”Most importantly, take care of your health,” Qi Taiguo said, glancing at her. ”Delegate tasks when you can, don’t take everything upon yourself.”

”Got it!” Cheng Su felt a warm sweetness in her heart and, seeing the beef on the market stall, said, ”Should I make you some spicy boiled beef?”

”Sure. Make some potato stewed ribs too, add more chili. It’s been so long since I’ve had something this flavorful out here,” Qi Taiguo said gloomily, ”My taste buds are getting bored.”

”Strange, aren’t you supposed to get used to the local flavor after staying so long?” Cheng Su teased.

”I just want to eat what you cook!” Qi Taiguo cooed, leaning close to her ear.

Cheng Su playfully pushed him away, but compliantly picked two fine ribs and placed them in the basket.

Qi Taiguo followed behind her, watching her fair hands selecting vegetables, listening as she asked prices and bargained, his lips curled into a smile as well.

Such a mundane task as grocery shopping seemed ordinary, but to him, watching it was incredibly comforting and satisfying.

Isn’t life just like this, passing through ordinary days, with her there, him there, and neither missing?
