Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1889: Chapter 1891: Certain

In the Cheng family, there were two camps, with the men drinking tea and chatting about business and politics, while the women were playing mahjong, gossiping, and creating a lively atmosphere.

Qi Xiaoqi followed Cheng Yaoyao back, looking gloomy. When Cheng Su noticed, she handed the baton to Ying Xiaoya and asked what was wrong.

”Did your third uncle refuse to show you what you wanted to see? Let your aunt know which one you fancy, and she’ll get it for you.” Third sister-in-law Cheng said jokingly.

”No way, I even gave him a piece of Ancient Jade,” Cheng Yaoyao protested, ”Yet he said the Wang Xizhi’s calligraphy I got this year is fake!”

”Oh? Xiao Qi, do you know the difference between real and fake?” Ying Xiaoya asked.

Cheng Su also looked at him, Qi Xiaoqi was about to speak, but she said, ”He’s just talking nonsense!”

Qi Xiaoqi hung his head low.

At this time, the men’s group over there asked Cheng Su to join their conversation.

Cheng Su picked up Qi Xiaoqi and walked over to the living room. Qi Xiaoqi said, ”That calligraphy is fake, third uncle got duped.”

Cheng Su paused, looking at him, seeing the seriousness and insistence in Xiao Qi’s eyes, she replied, ”Did you forget what I told you again?”

Qi Xiaoqi furrowed his brows.

”Alright, mom will also go admire those calligraphies later, then talk to your third uncle,” Cheng Su kissed his forehead lightly.

Qi Xiaoqi sighed.

”A little rascal, what’s there to sigh about?” Cheng Su glared at him mockingly.

Qi Xiaoqi said, ”I’m exhausted!”

Cheng Su almost couldn’t hold back and laughed out loud.

Bringing her son along to join the men’s conversation, they invited her not for other reasons but to talk about the development in the coming year. Qi Taiguo urged her to share her opinions as well.

”Usually, what you say seems quite reasonable, so share with the big brothers,” Qi Taiguo said, settling Xiao Qi onto his lap.

”...Back in the 1980s, with the growth of industry and commerce, more and more people came here to work. By the end of this year, those going home with money will probably become wealthy in their hometowns. After the new year, even more people will flock here because everyone wants to make money, and here’s where opportunities lie.” Cheng Su said, ”With more people, personalities and behaviors differ greatly. The local management can’t keep up, naturally leading to cases of theft and fraud.”

”As for the 1990s, more people mean economic growth will follow, because the daily needs of food, clothing, shelter, and travel are interdependent, creating a living chain,” Cheng Su thought for a moment, smiling, ”That’s why this might be the best time to dive into business. After more than a decade of reform and opening-up, different systems are gradually maturing, opportunities abound, and even those with a bit of cleverness know to seize them steadily, not to mention seasoned businessmen already in the commercial field. Looking at today’s developmental trends, the next ten years will be a period of rapid economic growth.”

Regarding rapid economic growth, it’s actually from the 1990s to the mid-2000s. Not only major cities like Guangcheng but the entire country developed simultaneously. Naturally, major cities can absorb more efficiently compared to smaller ones, hence Guangcheng’s transformation will be very significant, especially in the late 1990s.

But along with development, public security may worsen, especially initially, with rampant underworld gangs, and plenty of pickpockets and robbers, making everyone view thieves with fear.

”So, where should our business head?” Cheng Yaozong asked her.

”Isn’t everyone heading there already? Real estate, second brother, doing this well is better than anything. Just buy land whenever possible,” Cheng Su said.

Cheng Yaozong and Cheng Yaoguang exchanged glances, raising their eyebrows. Was she too certain?
