Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1898: Chapter 1900: No Choice but to Go

Standing on the balcony, Cheng Su wrapped her coat tightly around herself, her hands hugging her body, yet a drizzling rain fell outside. Despite being just a drizzle, she still felt an eerie coldness creeping from all directions, piercing into her bones.

But compared to the coldness in her bones, Cheng Su felt even colder inside.

Qi Taiguo’s decision made her feel incredibly cold and terrified. The understanding and support he spoke of were things she simply couldn’t muster.

He could go to other military units, he could separate from her and their son, she accepted that, but going to the battlefield for Aid Africa, facing life-threatening situations at any moment, how could she accept that?

Knowing that the level of danger would be magnified, how could she still remain calm as before, saying she supports him? That would be too fake!

But he said he was already on the list.

Cheng Su’s heart tightened into a ball, a feeling of congestion overwhelming her, she couldn’t help but clench her fists and pound her heart a few times, as if only by doing so could she release the stifling air.

Military orders cannot be defied, he must go, no matter how much she pleads, he can’t say no.

But why is this so painful here?

Tears began to flow from Cheng Su’s eyes again.

She felt an arm wrap around her waist, warmth suddenly enveloping her back, but Cheng Su remained motionless, allowing her tears to flow freely.

”You need to stay calm and don’t stand here, it’s windy. What if you catch a cold?” Qi Taiguo said.

Cheng Su replied, ”If I froze to death, that would be better. Then I wouldn’t have to watch you go off to die.”

”Rubbish!” Qi Taiguo tightened his grip, saying, ”I’m not going to die. It’s really not as dangerous as you imagine. Can’t you trust me? I know I’m not alone now; I know the responsibilities on my shoulders. I have you and Xiao Qi; how could I joke with my life?”

”Then what are you doing now?” Cheng Su tilted her head slightly and asked, ”You’re just telling me now, isn’t this cutting first and reporting later? Hadn’t you already decided, keeping it hidden until now? Is this your responsibility? If you had thought of us, you wouldn’t agree.”

”Susu, I’m a soldier!” Qi Taiguo straightened her body and, looking at her, said, ”As a soldier, I must obey unconditionally.”

Cheng Su’s body trembled as she said, ”Yes, because of those two words, I also have to support and understand unconditionally, right?” Her tears rolled down, what to resent, who to resent; she blamed herself for being a military family member.

Or rather, she shouldn’t resent; no one can be blamed because she chose a soldier, choosing to be part of a military family.

As a military family member, she must understand her husband’s duty. First, he is a soldier of the country, a guardian of the nation, before he is her husband, her son’s father.

And all the privileges she enjoyed as a military family were based on Qi Taiguo being a soldier. By enjoying those privileges, she must bear the inherent risks and costs.

Doesn’t it happen that pies fall from the sky?

Cheng Su gave a self-deprecating smile.

Call her selfish if you like, whatever you like; she is just an ordinary woman, only wanting her husband to be safe.

”I’m sorry.” Qi Taiguo held her, only able to say, ”Susu, I’m sorry.”

Cheng Su closed her eyes, a single ”sorry” already acknowledged his stance. She had no more room to persuade him, only after a while did she say, ”Don’t say anything, I understand.”

She pushed him away and walked back into the house. Qi Taiguo stood on the balcony, looking at her back, suddenly pounding the railing with a fist in frustration.
