Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1897: Chapter 1899: Unacceptable

Cheng Su cried uncontrollably. She was scared. She knew she might be overthinking things, but she still felt unparalleled fear, panic, and terror.

She feared the battlefield, feared the cruel images; what she feared most was loss, losing this man in front of her, the man she was supposed to spend her life with.

She couldn’t, couldn’t accept it!

”Susu, please don’t cry, listen to me, okay?” Qi Taiguo held her in his arms, gently patting her back, saying, ”Don’t cry, we won’t cry, I’m here!”

Cheng Su couldn’t control herself, looking at him and saying, ”Aid Africa, it’s war, it’s war. Our country is peaceful, isn’t that good enough? Why do you have to go to such a battlefield? That’s courting death.”

”Don’t you believe in me?” Qi Taiguo wiped away her tears, yet as he wiped them away, more kept falling; he truly felt helpless, finally believing that women are made of water.

”I believe in you, but I’m also very aware of the battlefield’s cruelty and mercilessness.” Cheng Su shook her head and said, ”It’s a scene with bullets and shells flying everywhere; do you think, with your meager flesh and blood, you can withstand it?”

”I won’t, I’ll be careful, I won’t let myself lose my life.” Qi Taiguo said, ”I’ll be sensible.”

”That’s impossible!” Cheng Su’s voice sharp, said, ”The body can’t compare to reality; maybe you’re courageous and wise, but don’t forget, you’re just one person; you can’t fool me, Qi Taiguo, I know what kind of world it is.”

Qi Taiguo looked at her without speaking.

”Don’t go, don’t go!” Cheng Su clasped his hand, shaking her head and saying, ”My son and I need you; don’t go. You can stay in Zhu City, even if you can’t be transferred back for those few years, it’s okay; I can wait. But don’t go aid Africa, okay? Don’t go!”

She flung herself into his arms, crying profusely.

”My name is already on the list, Susu; it’s a military order.” Qi Taiguo said, ”We’re just aiding Africa, not on the main battlefield; maybe it’s just moving things, helping organize some military affairs; don’t worry.”

”You lie to me, you lie to me.” Cheng Su covered her ears.

Qi Taiguo sighed.

”I’m really not lying to you; there are many kinds of aid to Africa, sometimes it’s helping them build projects like railways and so on. There’s also medical aid, that’s helping Africa too, not necessarily fighting wars.” Qi Taiguo said.

”Why do you have to go? Why exactly?” Cheng Su looked at him.

”I just said, you...”

”Not enough strength can be cultivated slowly, but if you lose your life, then there’s nothing left.” Cheng Su said, ”If you lose your life, what protection are you talking about? Aren’t we just being slaughtered?”

”Susu, I won’t just lose my life like that; I’ve weighed the pros and cons. Ning Gang said, once I return from Africa, I can be transferred back to Guangcheng, and then we can reunite as a family.” Qi Taiguo said.

”So for power, you’re going to abandon me and our son?” Cheng Su said, ”Is it Ning Gang asking you to go?”

”It’s my own decision. I want to earn this military merit, and reunite with you sooner. Susu, I promise you, I’ll keep myself safe, okay? If even you cannot support me, Susu, I truly don’t know how I can keep going.” Qi Taiguo held her shoulders and said.

Cheng Su looked at him for a long time and said, ”I support you, understand you, but can you understand me?”

The two looked at each other in silence; Cheng Su turned her gaze aside, got out of bed; she needed to calm down, the impact was indeed too great, she couldn’t accept it for the moment.
