Chapter 167: Valkyries vs Guardian

Idan and Arabel were puzzled by Geminiaʼs actions.

Geminia personally asked them to help Nemo reach this point, claiming that Nemo was almost the perfect candidate to pass the test.

However, instead of immediately starting the challenge she had been waiting for for so many years, Geminia decided to test the rest of the participants first, leaving Nemo for last.

Was Geminia trying to demonstrate something in this way, or did she just want to have fun fighting with others?

The couple could not understand what motivates Geminia.

”Nemo, keep your eyes on Esme and Sierraʼs fight. We think Geminia wants to show you something by fighting these two!” Arabel did not miss the opportunity to share her suspicions with Nemo and urged him to pay attention to Esma and Sierraʼs fights with Geminia.

Nemo, also taken aback by Geminiaʼs refusal, took their words seriously.

As in the battle with Eulalia, Geminia immediately took on the form of Esma, and when Esma saw her copy, she just grinned.

Being an avatar, Esma always hated her other copies, because they reminded her that she was not real, but only a copy, and that in the future her real self could call her back and take her life, and she herself would become only an experience and a nutrient for the real one.

Esma didnʼt hesitate and immediately took on her Valkyrie form. Geminia followed suit without hesitation. This time, she didnʼt waste time talking.

Idan and Arabel, who were watching the battle of the Diamond-ranked beings, were amazed by the speed and power. Their eyes couldnʼt keep up with all the movements, attacks, and spells.

Just like last time, they only saw the consequences of their collision, not the actions themselves. It seemed to them that only a few seconds had passed since the start of the battle, but for Esma and Geminia, the battle lasted much longer, as their reactions and movements seemed to stretch the time.

As time passed, the battle became more and more chaotic.

Nemo was watching intently. Unlike the pair, he was a Gold-ranked being and could pick up on their movements a bit to figure out exactly what was going on.

The battle continued for some time, but in the end, Esma suffered a crushing defeat.

Unlike Eulalia, who had lost consciousness, Esma was clearly aware that in her current state she would not be able to defeat her opponent. Therefore, she admitted defeat without further ado and returned back without saying a word. Geminia, hearing Esmaʼs words about defeat, stopped and did not pursue her.

When Esma returned, she was in a gloomy mood. She was lost in thought, considering the outcome of the battle. No one bothered her.

Shaking her head, Sierra stepped into the barrier.

The battle began immediately.

Geminia, as usual, took on the form of Sierra in the form of a Valkyrie, and the two warriors engaged in battle.

The entire area was instantly shrouded in darkness, making it difficult for others to see.

After several exchange attacks, Sierra decided to use her full strength for the first time since she suppressed her disadvantage.

Sierra was aware that this step could jeopardize all the efforts that the couple had made to help her overcome this problem. However, the desire not to lose to such a worthy opponent overshadowed all rational thoughts.

Three pairs of Sierraʼs huge dark wings covered half of the arena, while the other half was enveloped by three pairs of wings of her twin, Geminia.

The entire arena was engulfed in pitch darkness and silence.

No one could know what was going on inside.

Arabel began to worry about Sierra, believing that she had done something reckless.

As time passed, the atmosphere became increasingly tense. Esma had already regained consciousness and was waiting with some concern for the outcome of Sierraʼs battle with Geminia.

Although everyone understood that Sierra would most likely be defeated, everyone had a small hope that she would be able to gain the upper hand.

Their hope was dashed the moment the shell of darkness cracked, revealing the outcome of the battle.

Sierra was on her knees, her exquisite armor was shattered, and there were numerous horrific wounds on her body.

However, what struck the others was the condition of her opponent, Geminia. She, too, was in a deplorable state, her body covered with the same terrible wounds as Sierraʼs. However, unlike the latter, she was much more cheerful and stood on her feet. Even with the naked eye, it was noticeable how her wounds were healing at an astonishing rate.

”I... I admit defeat...” Sierra gasped, no longer able to resist what she couldnʼt.

After admitting defeat, Sierra knelt for a while longer, trying to come to her senses. Finally, somehow getting up, she returned back.

Arabel immediately ran over to Sierra and began to examine her wounds. Sierra did not resist, silently allowing herself to be examined, but a smile played on her blood-stained face.

Esma just shook her head, looking at Sierraʼs condition, and turned her gaze back to Geminia, who was standing in the center of the zone.

By this point, Esma realized that she couldnʼt defeat this opponent no matter how hard she tried. She carefully considered all the possible moves and couldnʼt find any that could turn the tide of the battle.

It seemed that the opponent knew all her tricks and actions. But the most terrifying thing was that unlike herself, the opponent had almost endless energy.

Thanks to the two battles that had taken place, Nemo realized several important things that completely changed his perception of the upcoming fight with the Guardian.

He realized that the approach used by all three of them — Eulalia, Esma and Sierra—was wrong from the very beginning.

It was necessary to end the fight at the very beginning, not allowing it to turn into a protracted battle of attrition. After all, the opponent had endless energy, and she didnʼt get tired.

”Esme and I were never destined to defeat the Guardian from the very beginning!” said Sierra, looking at Nemo, who was lost in thought.

Everyone immediately paid attention to her words.

”The Guardian is much more dangerous than the ʼPerfect Doppelgangers.ʼ She completely copies her opponent, without missing a single detail, including mastery of techniques. I suspect that the true rank of a Guardian is not limited to the lower realm. Like me, her true rank is somewhere in the highest realm, which makes her almost invincible in this realm.”

Everyone held their breath, realizing the seriousness of Sierraʼs words.

”But unlike me and Esma, you have a chance to defeat her in a one-on-one battle!”

Sierraʼs words confirmed Nemoʼs guess. He understood why Geminia refused him and asked him to fight these two first in order to show him and give him the answer to the question of how to defeat her.
