Chapter 946: Chapter 190: Glory

Lord, I offer victory and glory to you.

…

In front of heaven, the pure white unicorn slowly folded its wings and landed on the cloud. At this moment, a warrior clad in gold and silver armor, with three pairs of radiant wings on his back, dismounted directly from the unicorn.

Several two-winged angels dressed in white robes hurriedly approached, calling out the warrior’s name: Lucifer.

The great Star of the Morning Dawn, the Archangel reigning over angels, the victorious star that makes Hell tremble… if heaven didn’t preclude reverence, Archangel Lucifer would probably be the most popular in heaven, except for It.

“Lord Lucifer, you’ve returned early?” an angel asked curiously.

Lucifer removed his helmet… angels have no gender, but Lucifer’s beauty would cast the other angels into shadows.

“Yes, the sweep task was completed ahead of schedule. The angelic legion is still behind, but I returned early to inform Father of this good news.” Lucifer smiled slightly.

It was a heartwarming smile, even angels would be infected by this smile, as if happiness has arrived… Morning Star, the star that brings hope.

“Where is Father?” Lucifer continued to ask.

“The Lord is in his palace.” An angel answered at this time, “But the Lord is receiving a guest, and has instructed us not to disturb.”

Lucifer was slightly stunned, “Father’s guest? Is it the Buddha from heaven or the master at the end of the Ganges River.”

However, the angel who knew the situation could only shake his head to answer this question: “I don’t know exactly who it is, but it shouldn’t be either of them.”

“I understand.” Lucifer nodded: “You continue to stay at your posts, I’ll go in myself.”

The guarding angels had no objections; this Archangel in front of them, along with another Archangel Gabriel, was privileged to walk freely in heaven.

Soon, Lucifer arrived at the place where the Lord was.

Lord… I offer victory and glory to you.

With a smile on his face, Lucifer pushed open the large door of the hall.

The interior of the hall was radiant with colors, flamboyant hues; even in heaven, there seemed to be no place as magnificent as this — yet it appeared in this main hall.

Lucifer’s gaze slightly shrunk, observing the myriad colors suspended in the air, along with the voice that sounded in the hall.

“The quality this time is very good, enough to last quite a while.”

…

“Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mother Mary, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen!”

The sound of prayers.

Lucifer slowly opened his eyes and frowned slightly, a look of doubt flashing in his eyes, “Did I… dream.”

Shaking his head, Lucifer stood up, caring more about being awakened than the fact of dreaming.

At this moment, Charlotte clasped a silver cross tightly in her hands, bowing her head and softly mumbling.

“Isam is not a believer; even if you bless him, his soul will not enter heaven after death — even if he is a good man.”

This remark abruptly halted Charlotte’s prayers — since she was left questioning fruitlessly last night, this young nun had been weary and heartbroken, nearly fainting, yet she did not sleep the whole night but instead stayed quietly by the old nun’s side.

“God loves all people.” Charlotte did not turn to look at Lucifer at this time, “Without distinction.”

“That’s not necessarily true.” Lucifer sneered at this moment, “It loves most those who can become the Holy Spirit; only with these Holy Spirits can heaven exist. But even these Holy Spirits are merely tools, merely consumables in Its hands.”

Charlotte ignored Lucifer’s words, merely closing her eyes again and continued to pray sincerely.

Lucifer was not bothered in the least, shrugged, and left Charlotte — because the old nun couldn’t wake up after the surgery, Charlotte basically couldn’t leave, naturally preventing Lucifer from leaving too far.

Mr. Isam’s wife heard the news and hurried over in the night, yet she could only see the pale face of her husband who had already lost his life.

Charlotte tried to comfort her with something, but ultimately endured the poisonous reprimands from the heartbroken wife.

The young nun silently endured.

But for Lucifer, this wasn’t even considered an interlude — parting of life and death is all too normal in a hospital.

Suddenly, she grew to like this place, partly because it had soil nurturing despair, and partly because it was a rather good breeding ground.

Despite mysteriously losing her power and being confined to this maiden-like form… her knowledge wasn’t lost.

“With so much material, I should be able to create a pretty good little creature…” Lucifer, wearing a pleased smile, headed towards the intensive care unit.

…

…

…

…

As the helicopter’s rotors began to slow down, the noise seemed to grow even louder.

The place where the helicopter landed was the secret village built by the Song Family — Luo Qiu looked out from the helicopter’s window, basically seeing the entire view of the village.

Gan Hong had actually introduced Luo Qiu to the village’s appearance earlier on, and upon looking now, it corresponded to Gan Hong’s introduction, giving Luo Qiu a much more direct impression.

Besides Luo Qiu himself, Song Ying was also on this trip to the village — and this outing was actually at Song Ying’s request.

Because the date for returning home had been set and was not far off, Song Ying decided to visit Gan Hong before leaving.

Song Tianyou considered for a while and agreed to Song Ying’s request, and had Song Er accompany her all the way.

“What do you think, are you surprised?” Seeing Luo Qiu watch unblinking, Song Ying, sitting beside him, said proudly, “This village took twenty years to construct before reaching its current scale.”

“It’s indeed remarkable.” Luo Qiu nodded, “But, rather than a village, it feels more like a base to me.”

In fact, this direct bird’s-eye view was much more detailed than what Gan Hong had introduced—Luo Qiu had already seen several watchtowers, and inside seemed to be hiding some heavy artillery… Even more exaggerated, he discovered a ‘parking lot’ in one corner of this ‘village,’ where several tanks were parked.

Hearing this, Song Er in the front passenger seat laughed and said, “Young Master Qiu, you might not know. If the Song Dynasty is the economic lifeline of the Song Family, then this place is the foundation and self-defense strength of the Song Family—naturally, it’s also a power of attack. So saying it’s a base is not wrong at all.”

There might also be talent cultivation, certain technology research, rehabilitation of the injured, and other functions as well.

The helicopter, amidst the conversation of a few people, finally landed on the helipad at one corner of the village. And here, an off-road vehicle had been waiting early on for pickup.

Just as Gan Hong once said, on the road, Luo Qiu not only saw a large residential area but also saw public facilities such as markets, malls, schools, and hospitals.

According to Song Er’s introduction, within the ‘village’, paper money is just waste paper, because the currency used for transactions here is actually a kind of virtual evaluation value.

Besides those under sixteen and retired injured people who receive a monthly fixed ‘Consumption Points’, everyone here needs to earn their own ‘Consumption Points’.

The sources of Consumption Points are varied, it can be staying on for work, completing any task for the Song Family, participating in activities collectively organized by the Song Family, contributing to the village, or obtaining some new research results and so on.

The outside laws do not apply here, all assessments are executed by a dedicated assessment department of the Song Family.

This base, despite not having a large population, can already be described as an independent ‘small country’.

After entering the village, Song Ying stretched, took a deep breath, and said comfortably, “The air outside really can’t compare to the village!”

Perhaps… it’s because there is a thing called ‘Spiritual Energy’ gathered here?

Luo Qiu smiled slightly, looking at some strange pillars occasionally seen on the village streets—because of the presence of these pillars, the ‘Spiritual Energy’ near this large mountain flows into this valley like a river.

This is probably the handiwork of Mr. Blind.

Growing up in an environment rich in Spiritual Energy, although the possibility of developing into a Transcendent is still minimal, improving the villagers’ physical fitness is doable—and this is only a success of twenty years.

If the village’s environment remains unchanged, after generations, perhaps more exceptional human individuals would be born… Luo Qiu suddenly thought: Is this Mr. Blind planning to conduct this experiment of mortal transformation here?

“We’re here.” At this point, Song Er pointed to a building in front: “This is the medical institution within the base.”

Song Ying looked at Song Er with surprise… Was he influenced by Luo Qiu to also call the village a base?

“Instructor Er!”

At this moment, a woman in a nurse’s outfit, holding a clipboard, walked out.

Song Er nodded.

The young nurse then greeted Song Ying and Luo Qiu separately—what made Luo Qiu curious was that she actually recognized him.

Song Er smiled and said, “Although Young Master Qiu hasn’t appeared in the base, your return to the Song Family is something known here at the first instance. Even though we haven’t let the people in the base recognize your appearance, knowing you are coming today and being by Miss Ying’s side, it’s not hard to guess.”

Luo Qiu just smiled slightly without saying much—yet this young nurse kept peeking over, seemingly very interested.

At this point, Luo Qiu pointed to the girl’s leg, she was startled, looked down, and found her shoelace had unknowingly come loose.

The girl felt embarrassed, quickly crouched to tie her shoelace, then with a blushed face said, “Instructor Er, are you here to visit Sister Gan Hong? She’s currently in the physiotherapy room for rehabilitation.”

Song Ying was astonished, “It’s only been a few days, being able to get out of bed is remarkable, she’s already starting rehab training?”

The young nurse helplessly said, “The doctor says it’s not allowed either, but none of us can convince Sister Gan Hong… She says she doesn’t want to lie in bed, that it makes her feel like a waste.”

Song Ying frowned slightly, and said seriously, “Take me to see her.”

…

In the corridor covered with cotton pads, holding two long pipes, Gan Hong held onto the pipes with both hands, moving step by very difficult step.

Every step was extremely difficult for her, she needed to exert enormous effort just to slightly move her ankle.

Her hair hung down, even the bangs could see sweat drops. But she stared ahead, the stubbornness in her eyes making it hard for others to watch.

In front of the glass outside the physiotherapy room, Song Ying placed her palm on the glass, then tightened it slightly. She opened her mouth, seemed to want to shout something, but in the end, pursed her lips.

“How long has she been like this?” Song Ying asked quietly.

“From morning till now, nearly five hours,” the nurse sighed.

“Has she not rested?”

“Sister Gan Hong has rested,” the young nurse hurriedly said, “and she ate quite a lot, then continued with the rehab training.”

“This one…” Song Ying finally sighed, shook her head, “Forget it, perhaps she really has her own thoughts.”

Beside her, Song Er suddenly said, “Miss, don’t you plan to stop Gan Hong? You should take things step by step, practicing won’t help if the injury hasn’t healed, right?”

At this time, Song Ying looked through the glass at Gan Hong, still moving forward step by small step, and smiled bitterly, “Song Er, have you ever had a time where you didn’t want to give up no matter what… have you ever had a time where stopping would lead to despair, losing confidence in the future?”

Song Er frowned.

Song Ying sighed, “Since she knows how to rest, and further eats to replenish her strength, it proves she understands her situation, and it’s not because of temper… although it’s very difficult for her now, perhaps accompanied by pain. But after seeing the paths she walks, those sweat, and this perseverance, can you really bear to stop her? I want her to stop more than any of you, even more worried about her physical condition than she is, but when faced with her like this, I know I can’t manage it.”

Shaking her head, Song Ying took a deep breath, “What we can do is believe she can do it, and fully recover… prepare for immediate examination once she can’t hold on. Also, let’s not stay here, if she knows we saw her in such a sorry state, it’ll only make her feel worse, let’s all go.”

“I say…” Song Er’s expression became peculiar at this moment.

Song Ying was taken aback, instinctively asked, “What’s up?”

Song Er swallowed, pointed to the room ahead, “That… it seems Young Master Qiu has gone in.”

“What?” Song Ying was stunned, then widened her eyes!

Only to see Luo Qiu, who didn’t know when walked in, holding a water bottle, walked to Gan Hong. Gan Hong was slightly startled, then received the water bottle handed over by Luo Qiu and drank.

“That’s not right… Gan Hong doesn’t seem unwilling for others to see her in a sorry state?” Song Er couldn’t help but murmur, “She seems quite happy to see Young Master Qiu…”

“Idiot!!” Song Ying gritted her teeth.
