Chapter 943: Chapter 187: Lightness and Heaviness

The clinic in the village was somewhat rudimentary, but the doctor had promised to do his utmost to save the elderly nun—despite this, Charlotte was still very worried, waiting outside the door.

Perhaps due to the habit of believers, at this moment Charlotte held a cross in her hand, knelt in front of the window at the end of the corridor, and prayed silently.

Lucifer couldn’t stray too far from the little nuns, so he was bored leaning against the wall, watching a little spider hunting in the corner, and thinking about what would happen if the elderly nun’s rescue inside failed.

Although he didn’t actively attack these two nuns, if they died naturally, it would be another matter—if the elderly nun who restricts the distance left, then as long as he avoided Charlotte…

Just as he was musing, the doctor finally came out of the room, simultaneously removing the mask from his face, revealing a tired expression.

Charlotte quickly stood up upon hearing the noise, hurriedly walked to the doctor.

The doctor sighed, frowned, and said, “We’ve managed to get past the most dangerous period, but the situation isn’t optimistic. Charlotte, you should know that our conditions here are really poor.”

“Do we need to send the nun to the hospital in the city? Can we contact the hospital there to send an ambulance?” Charlotte asked promptly.

The doctor said helplessly, “Charlotte, even in a big city, resources are limited. I’ve already contacted people there, and all the ambulances from several hospitals are dispatched, the soonest they can arrive is tonight. But considering the nun’s current situation, it might be too late.”

“How can this be…” Charlotte became anxious, “How about this, I’ll take the nun out myself!”

“I was thinking the same thing.” The doctor nodded, “But if you use your car, the journey will be too bumpy. How about I drive her out? I can handle any emergencies on the road.”

“Thank you, doctor! Thank you!” Charlotte gratefully repeated her thanks.

“No problem.” The doctor smiled, “I grew up in this village and have always been taken care of by the nun. If she’s in trouble, how can I ignore it?”

How annoying…

Lucifer watched the little insect finally fall into the spider’s mouth, but he was also listening clearly to the conversation between the doctor and Charlotte.

How annoying… Mutual assistance? Gratitude?

“You’re not going to do anything?” Lucifer suddenly said coldly.

Charlotte and the doctor simultaneously looked at Lucifer, showing puzzled expressions, while Lucifer sneered, “There’s only you as the doctor here, what will happen to the other patients if you leave? You’re not going to care?”

“Lucifer!” Charlotte called his name somewhat angrily.

Lucifer nonchalantly said, “When I came in, I saw, there was a baby with a high fever, right? Leaving is really not a problem? That baby also needs you, doctor. Or is the nun’s life more important than this baby’s?”

The doctor’s eyebrows furrowed, “Charlotte, what’s going on with this child?”

“She…” Charlotte was momentarily speechless, suddenly grappling with the nun’s life and the baby’s comfort.

It was as if a balance sprang up in her heart.

Lucifer, however, did not intend to stop, rather he said playfully, “Oh right, they say saving lives is a doctor’s duty, right? In your eyes, doctors, is there a distinction between lives? When both the elderly and the baby need you at the same time, which one do you plan to save…”

The doctor’s eyes widened slightly… This question was already asked by his mentor during his medical qualification studies.

Undoubtedly, it was the most difficult choice—clearly, this doctor was not someone chasing fame and fortune, or he wouldn’t have willingly stayed in such a small village to practice.

But Lucifer’s words were far from over, rather he continued with more tantalizing words, “…Are you planning to abandon one?”

“I…” The doctor moved his lips, his face serious, “The child’s situation is quite clear to me, although the fever persists, it’ll be fine after a while. Even if I leave, I can leave instructions with the nurse! Rest assured, she’s professional too!”

“Oh, is it so, then that’s good.” Lucifer nodded, “Then let’s go as agreed, the doctor will drive—after all, you’re the only one with a car here.”

“Yes, urgency is necessary.” The doctor quickly nodded—perhaps he felt relieved, but also didn’t dare to meet the child’s gaze.

Lucifer put her hands behind her head, then walked straight ahead.

But just after a few steps, she suddenly turned her head, squinting her eyes, “Just remembered two things. Doctor, what if something sudden occurs with the baby, and the nurse can’t handle it? Wouldn’t it make the baby more dangerous?”

“This…” The doctor’s face turned somewhat unsightly, this child…

“There’s another thing.”

Lucifer laughed lightly, “What if you leave and then suddenly a more serious patient comes in, how would that be handled? What about the responsibility? Oh right, one last thing… Shouldn’t doctors leave their positions if it’s for treating patients far away?”

“I…” The doctor looked clearly towards Charlotte, but only glanced at her, then quickly avoided her gaze.

Charlotte moved her lips, merely gripping the corner of her clothes with white fingers.

“What’s going on with this little dog? Whose family are they from, being so lacking in manners?”

Suddenly, Lucifer felt her entire body lifted up by someone—grabbing the back of her clothes.

She looked back and found a muscular, tall man with a full beard angrily looking at her.

“Mr. Isam!” The doctor called out, “Your child…”

Mr. Isam shook his head, “His fever hasn’t reduced yet, but I’m not worried, because I believe my child can overcome this difficulty. For him, this kind of hardship is just a test. If he can’t overcome this test, then it means he will lack resilience in the future!”

“He was only born a short while ago, Mr. Isam, your opinion is somewhat…” the doctor shook his head.

Mr. Isam loudly said, “I really don’t understand what you’re so tangled about! There’s only one car, but not only one who can drive it! You shouldn’t leave your post, doctor, but I can! Let me take the nun to the hospital in the city!”

“Ah! That’s really wonderful!” The doctor slapped his forehead, “I remember, Mr. Isam was a truck driver before! This is indeed a great solution!”

“Thank you, Mr. Isam!” Charlotte gratefully grasped the big man’s hand.

“What are you saying? I’m still waiting for the nun to baptize my child someday! Haha, how could I let the old nun retire so soon!” Mr. Isam laughed heartily, “I’m a very fast driver!”

It seems that the predicament was instantly broken by this man’s few words, allowing a ray of bright sunlight to penetrate the heavy atmosphere.

Tsk.

Lucifer’s eyes narrowed as he stared at the suddenly appearing Mr. Isam.

Really, it’s quite annoying, this dazzling brilliance.

…

“I’ve already contacted them. This is the hospital’s address and phone number. As soon as the person is sent there, someone will respond to you immediately.”

In front of the small clinic, the doctor stood by the car with the engine already started and handed Charlotte a note.

Charlotte helped the unconscious old nun to sit in the back seat, while Lucifer was placed in the passenger seat, and was roughly buckled in with a seatbelt by Mr. Isam.

“I’m off, doctor, wait for my good news!” Uncle Isam extended his hand out of the car window and gave a thumbs-up.

As his car was about to leave, for some reason, the doctor let out a long sigh.

He murmured to himself, “Such a small child saying such terrifying things… wait until he grows up. Still, though…”

Babies and the elderly.

If there wasn’t Mr. Isam this time, then what is the answer?

…

…

“You all wait here for me. Without my orders, don’t come inside.”

In front of a brand-name clothing store, the ‘Messenger of God’ instructed his bodyguards in this manner.

After that, Bucky got out of the car on his own, pushed open the revolving door of the clothing store, and walked inside—the clerks and customers in the store found it exceptionally strange that someone entered wearing a mask.

Of course, the luxurious suit on this masked fellow did not escape the clerks’ sharp eyes.

“Sir, is there anything I can help you with?” A busty clerk walked up to Bucky at this time, smiling as she asked.

“Where is the restroom?” Bucky asked directly.

“Over there.” The clerk was taken aback… dressed so well, just came in to use the restroom? But under excellent service training, the clerk still pointed in the direction for Bucky.

“Oh… Thank you, may God bless you.” Bucky said in a gentle voice, then quickly walked towards the restroom.

Only when Bucky entered the restroom did the mask on his face suddenly begin to melt, but it did not fall off his face. Instead, after melting, it reshaped again, finally forming a human face that fully adhered to Bucky’s features.

Bucky glanced at his current appearance in the mirror and smiled with satisfaction.

It’s really boring… Although the current life is the dream he once had, it truly is boring—especially as time goes on and leisure increases, he even has to pass time by being dazed.

Even when he was in prison, the prison would have daily yard time… Living in the manor, surrounded by respectful followers, Bucky finds it difficult to ask for a chat.

Changing faces is a very effective means—at that time, spending a lot on buying this mask was definitely a wise decision!

Bucky then patted his cheek, transformed into a charming man in his thirties, took off his jacket, hung it on his arm, and walked out easily, leaving the bodyguards outside the store’s view without a hitch.

Bucky did not actually intend to come out for long, as he had no intention of giving up his current life—this was merely to enjoy a brief moment of solitary happiness from his past.

In general, Bucky truly is a guy with a relentless yearning for mischief.

Why say this?

Because right now, Bucky is walking down an alley filled with eroticism—even though there were many youthful girls dedicated to serving in the manor… but after eating exquisite desserts too often, sometimes one craves street snacks.

A group of streetwalkers flirted in various ways as he passed by, this long-lost flavor made Bucky feel as if he was back in the days of fighting at the Imperial Command.

Of course, in alleys like these, besides the streetwalkers, there are naturally two other types of money-making operations—the illegal gambling dens and the drug dealers.

Bucky’s eyes lustfully scanned over each streetwalker, displaying a look of pleasure, “Ah… Feels like I’ve replenished a lot of energy.”

Just as Bucky was thinking about picking a woman from the streetwalkers to enjoy an overdue open-air alley game, reminiscent of his wild past, he was suddenly drawn to cries coming from a branching alley.

Only to see a few young punks, at this moment, were beating up a somewhat overweight fellow… Bucky didn’t pay much mind to it, since things like this happen in places like this quite frequently.

Probably a turf dispute, or some unlucky guy breaking the rules or something.

“It’s really tough in this industry…” Bucky sighed deeply, then rubbed his hands with a look of late-stage mischief, continuing to search for a suitable streetwalker.

This truly tarnished the image that the mask brought out.

“I’ll tell you! My boss is Bucky! If you dare hit me again, my boss Bucky won’t let you go!”

But at this moment, from that branched alley, such angry shouts were heard, and the voice surprisingly sounded familiar to Bucky.

“Hmm, this voice seems to be familiar?” Bucky frowned and decided to turn back—the more important fact was, the person shouting mentioned ‘Boss Bucky’!

Bucky walked into the branching alley with a calm face, the few young punks hardly cared and continued their beating job.

“Friends, isn’t this a bit too much? If you beat someone to death, aren’t you breaking the rules too?” Bucky said calmly.

“Huh? Who are you? Looking for trouble?” A youth covered in tattoos glared fiercely.

Bucky shrugged, then glanced at the overweight fellow beaten on the ground—only to see the guy who shouted ‘My boss is Bucky’, also raised his head at this time.

Bruised and battered, yet his original face could be recognized.

Bucky was stunned, this fellow wasn’t the warden Cage who helped him escape from prison and was eventually abandoned by him?

How’s he mixed up so miserably?
