Chapter 937: Chapter 181: Fortune and Misfortune (3)

At this moment, the assassin disguised as a waiter almost emptied his magazine in one go, but the flying bullets ultimately failed to achieve the expected effect.

Because, the instant the gunshots rang out was also when Song Da roared with anger.

Song Da dashed in front of the assassin at an extremely fast speed, directly grabbed and lifted his wrist—the continuous shooting only resulted in the bullets hitting the ceiling of the private room.

Following closely, Song Da coldly snorted and forcibly broke the assassin’s wrist bone with his grip strength!

Ah—!

The assassin let out a piercing scream, and the gun was snatched away by Song Da!

At this moment, Song Da kicked the assassin, sending him flying against the wall. Moreover, under the assassin’s despairing and resentful gaze, Song Da exerted force with both hands, directly bent the gun he snatched and casually threw it to the ground.

The assassin was in so much pain, his face was covered in cold sweat, looking at Song Da was like seeing a devil. He cursed out loud in some foreign language, which was hard to discern—but must not be anything friendly.

“It’s okay now.” Song Haoran released Song Ying at this moment.

In the instant the assassin pulled out his gun, Song Haoran instinctively hugged Song Ying and lunged towards the ground, shielding her with his back against the assassin.

Until Song Da defeated the assassin, he pulled Song Ying up. Song Ying’s lips were slightly dry at the moment, but she wasn’t overly flustered… Actually, she had encountered similar assassinations several times before, long past the stage of panicking.

At this moment, Song Da rushed forward again, dislocated the assassin’s shoulder, then grabbed the back collar and lifted the person up, “Speak! Who sent you!”

The assassin was in severe pain, drenched in cold sweat, but stubbornly remained silent, merely glared at Song Da with venom.

Song Ying frowned at this moment, recalling what Song Haoran said when the assassin pulled out a dagger, “Uncle, did you deliberately lure this guy, is that why you came here?”

“Of course! Otherwise, do you think I really came to this kind of place to play with women?” Song Haoran said grudgingly, flicking his finger on Song Ying’s forehead, “And bringing Luo Qiu here, what sort of people do you take us for? Besides, you suddenly appeared and nearly ruined my original plan, girl!”

“I… I…” Song Ying was at a loss for words, then glanced at Luo Qiu, who only shook his head gently, looking helpless.

“Sorry…” Song Ying finally succumbed to the imposing figure of Song Haoran, admitting her fault with a bowed head.

“You, really, I don’t know what to say to you.” Song Haoran sighed at this moment, “You should also think about it, does Uncle look like a womanizing scumbag to you? Is Luo Qiu the type to fool around with women? If he were, Gan Hong would have been completely taken advantage of already, right?”

Song Ying was so wronged she couldn’t lift her head.

Song Haoran continued the momentum, “Taking a step back—even if your Uncle is a scumbag who wants to fool around with women, why wouldn’t I do it back in my village? Any random woman there meets the special agent’s seduction standards, you know? Why would I stoop to favor these mediocre vulgar folks here? Luo Qiu, am I right! I’ll get you another top-notch one later!”

Instantly, Song Ying found a reason to retaliate, fiercely stamping on Song Haoran’s foot, “Drop dead! Song the scumbag, Haoran!”

Song Haoran seemed unfazed, with a slight breeze at the corner of his mouth, smiling slightly… Luo Qiu, who suddenly felt Song Haoran was living quite miserably at this moment, said, “Aren’t you planning to deal with this assassin first?”

Song Da, already accustomed to it, casually tossed the assassin he was holding to the ground, “Young master, I can’t understand what this guy is saying!”

Song Haoran at this moment stopped playing around, crouched down directly, grabbed the assassin’s collar, slightly lifted the person, and spoke in another language.

This time the assassin did not continue to curse but remained silent. Song Haoran shook his head and said, “Take this guy back, I’ll treat him later and continue questioning.”

“Okay.” Song Da nodded, then karate chopped the assassin’s nape, causing him to lose consciousness, then slung him over the shoulder.

“Who is this assassin? Why did he come to assassinate you?” Song Ying frowned at this moment, “Tell me honestly, is this guy part of the same group behind the sabotage of my race car earlier… targeting the heirs of our Song Family?”

“Actually, this matter…” Song Haoran was about to speak but suddenly frowned and turned around abruptly—he sensed a certain danger was approaching.

But the front of the private room was empty, nothing unusual. Song Haoran frowned even more deeply… Finally, a chilling laugh sounded.

A man slowly moved to the front of the private room—it was Bai Shuitang!

At this moment, Bai Shuitang’s face was full of fear and nervousness, his hands raised in front, blocking the entrance of the private room.

“Second Uncle!” Song Ying exclaimed.

While Song Haoran’s face turned grim—because, at this moment, a head peeked out from behind Bai Shuitang.

With a grim smile and a sullen face… this person was Bazel.

He was using a gun to press against Bai Shuitang’s back at the moment, and with his left hand firmly grasping Bai Shuitang’s shoulder, he slowly pushed him into the private room.

“Song Haoran.” Bazel’s voice was even more sullen than his expression, “You had better not move, or I can only take this chamber of commerce president with me.”

“No, don’t mind me!” Bai Shuitang said quickly at this moment, “Shoot this bastard quickly! Song Ying, this guy is a leftover from the family that killed your parents years ago! He’s back for revenge!”

“He…” Song Ying instinctively bit her lip, deeply worried.

Song Haoran sneered at this moment, “Bazel, oh Bazel, do you think Bai Shuitang alone is enough to threaten me?”

Bazel replied indifferently, “Well, that depends on whether you really don’t care… Song Haoran, I’ve researched you. In Hua Country’s old words, you’re particularly loyal. Let’s see if you can turn a blind eye to him dying.”

Song Haoran moved past Song Ying, emotionlessly walking closer to Bai Shuitang.

Bai Shuitang’s lips moved slightly, seemingly wanting to say something.

Song Haoran then took a deep breath and said, “Big brother Bai, don’t worry, I’ll definitely get your revenge for you.”

Bai Shuitang’s eyes widened in shock, not expecting Song Haoran would directly give up on him, “Young master…”

“Seems you really don’t plan to care about this man’s life, then let me fulfill that for you!” Bazel sneered coldly again, pressing the gun muzzle tightly against Bai Shuitang.

“Don’t!” Bai Shuitang exclaimed in panic at this moment.

Yet Bazel continued to coldly sneer at Song Haoran, and Song Haoran calmly met his gaze. The two were deadlocked for a few seconds when Song Haoran suddenly sighed, then retreated two steps, raising his hands, “Alright, you win this time, Bazel. What do you want?”

“What do I want?” Bazel sneered, “You tell me? Have Song Tianyou meet me personally! And get this big guy to step back… he’s too dangerous, I can’t let him stay here.”

At this moment, Bazel was looking at Song Da… that fearless gaze made Song Da’s eyes blaze like fire.

“Song Da, do as he says.” Song Haoran suddenly commanded.

“But young master…”

“You should at least inform dad about the situation here, right?”

“Alright…” Song Da reluctantly nodded.

…

…

“Go in!”

Two men at this moment grabbed Luo Qiu and Song Ying separately, pushing the two into a cold storage room—it seemed like some shop dealing in frozen meat.

Because of the gun pointed at them, Song Ying stared maliciously, yet helplessly, she grudgingly walked inside, “Let go of your hand! I can walk on my own!”

But she was still pushed directly to the ground, and then shoved into the cold storage room—Luo Qiu seemed to have been pushed as well, but wasn’t knocked down, instead it was as if he was urged forward, taking a couple of steps and walking directly into the cold storage room.

The burly man who shoved Luo Qiu was somewhat surprised, but didn’t think much of it, and immediately had his companion close the cold storage room’s door.

At this moment, Song Ying crawled up from the ground, took a breath, her body feeling as if it was being corroded, the chill suddenly sweeping through her internal organs, causing her to shiver.

Song Ying, speechless, walked to the cold storage room’s door, forcefully tugging at the lock, finding it impossible to open, then began to search the surroundings of the cold storage room.

Luo Qiu was curious at this point, “Are you looking for something?”

“Of course, seeing if there’s a way out! Are you an idiot?” Song Ying turned back exasperatedly, “Do you not understand how dangerous we are right now? In a place like this, it won’t take long to freeze people to death! Ugh…”

It was so cold that Song Ying had to breathe on her hands, but the hot air immediately froze and vaporized.

After breathing out once, Song Ying abandoned this method of warming herself, frowning as she looked at Luo Qiu, “Aren’t you cold?”

“It’s manageable for now.” Luo Qiu mimicked Song Ying, starting to tap casually on the cold storage room walls, but Song Ying’s gaze seemed fixed on him, “Is there something you want to say?”

“I mean…” Song Ying looked at Luo Qiu, seemingly at a loss for words, until suddenly her emotions seemed to explode for some reason, “Shouldn’t you be taking off your clothes and wrapping them around me at a time like this?”

“If I did that, I’d be naked, which wouldn’t be ideal.” Luo Qiu shook his head, “And it wouldn’t help much anyway.”

Luo Qiu glanced at the thin long-sleeved shirt he was wearing.

“Do you…really have a girlfriend?” Song Ying hugged her body, shivering, even jumping lightly to generate more warmth.

Luo Qiu said, “Yes, I’ve even met her parents.”

“Heaven must be blind…” Song Ying muttered, squatting down to minimize her body heat loss, “In a situation like this, we can only count on my uncle and grandpa… Song Haoran, that dead bastard, must be playing too rough this time… always looking for trouble!”

Song Ying and Luo Qiu were trapped in the cold storage, while Song Haoran was taken away by Bazel — according to Bazel, to give Song Haoran a good greeting, otherwise it’d be too easy on him.

Luo Qiu softly said, “He should be fine.”

“How can you be sure… That guy doesn’t look like a good person.” Song Ying’s lips were starting to tremble.

Luo Qiu didn’t reply, instead suddenly searched through the cargo racks in the cold storage—soon, Luo Qiu found a small cardboard box and brought it in front of Song Ying.

Opening the box revealed some entirely solidified, pale yellow items.

“What’s this?”

“Butter.” Luo Qiu said casually, then took out a bit, “Eat this, it can provide warmth for your body… Well, you’ll still feel cold, but at least you won’t pass out for a while.”

“Seriously… does eating this help?” Song Ying hesitated a little.

Luo Qiu honestly replied, “I don’t know, it’s from books, I’ve never tried it before… Well, it’s better to try than wait helplessly. Even if someone outside is trying to save you, you have to ensure you can hold on until they arrive, right?”

“Then… you eat a bit first, let me see.”

“Okay, I’ll experience it myself…” Luo Qiu nodded, broke off a small piece of butter, and put it in his mouth.

It was too hard, only chewable; swallowing would be difficult otherwise.

“How is it… any effect?” Song Ying asked curiously.

“If there’s an effect, you probably wouldn’t feel it.” Luo Qiu shook his head, “The body just generates and absorbs warmth. Plus, it doesn’t taste great.”

Song Ying gritted her teeth, finally opting to swallow a small piece of butter… Maybe as a psychological suggestion, Song Ying felt her condition slightly improved.

She blinked, and frost had formed on her eyelashes.

Luo Qiu sat beside her, about a palm’s width apart. Song Ying then noticed that Luo Qiu’s body was also slightly shivering, and gradually, Luo Qiu started hugging himself.

No one knew how much time had passed, nor if the butter had any effect. Song Ying just felt her eyelids were heavy, liable to doze off at any moment.

“You… ask me something… otherwise I’ll… fall asleep.”

“What should I ask?”

“Anything… interests, hobbies… favorite foods… ugh, so annoying… measurements are okay too… hurry and ask!”

“If you leave here, what’s the first thing you’d want to do?” Luo Qiu pondered.

“A pie in the sky… works too.” Song Ying gasped, “I want a cup of hot water.”

“Just that?”

Song Ying replied, “Isn’t water the source of life? Wanting a cup of hot water, what’s weird about that? I don’t lack anything to begin with.”

“Indeed.” Luo Qiu nodded, indeed a woman seemingly lacking nothing in outsiders’ eyes.

“Alright, now I’ll ask you…” Song Ying stuffed more butter into her mouth, “If… if we really die here, before dying, who… who would you miss the most?”

Luo Qiu closed his eyes.

His body is constantly protected by powerful, mysterious forces… It’s passive power, a permanent buff granted by the club.

But after eating the first bit of butter, he actively shut down this permanent buff—the chill of the cold storage instantly stimulated all his nerves.

Though his mind could fully endure the cold, his body was faithfully reflecting it.

In such a desperate situation.

Closing your eyes, who do you miss most?

—That child, you don’t want, I will! Even if selling the car, selling the house, begging for food, I can raise him myself! Without spending your dime, I’m not interested in my husband’s inheritance!

Indeed… it’s still her.

That woman who always acted like a loser, so lazy she didn’t even wash, secretly smoking…

…

Suddenly, Luo Qiu felt something soft holding him. When he opened his eyes, he found Song Ying hugging him tightly.

She saw Luo Qiu’s eyes open, hurriedly said, “You scared me, I thought you fell asleep and couldn’t wake up… Are you better?”

Luo Qiu softly said, “Thank you.”
