Chapter 942: Chapter 186: True Nature

On the other side of the phone came an artificial recording, the gist of which was: The number you dialed is not in service.

Lucifer put down the receiver with some frustration at the moment — this was the only old phone provided by the monastery, and also the only means for the monastery to communicate with the outside world in real-time.

There wasn’t even an internet connection here.

This practically deprived Lucifer of the means to contact Charlotte and other demons — the number just dialed was actually the private phone line of the ‘Flaming Red Lips’ Bar.

But since this number no longer existed, it meant that the ‘Flaming Red Lips’ Bar also didn’t exist anymore, or perhaps Charlotte had to leave due to other important matters.

It’s even possible that Charlotte might have gotten involved in some kind of danger. Thinking this, Lucifer’s already gloomy mood became even more restless.

In fact, there was another way to reach the outside world, which was to walk out — time had passed, and the originally blocked mountain road had been cleared by the local government, making travel possible again.

But for Lucifer, this was the most difficult means — due to Gabriel’s reason, Lucifer couldn’t stay too far from the two nuns in this monastery, one big and one small.

Gabriel even planted the method to control the shackles in the minds of these two nuns and granted them divine revelation.

So the moment Gabriel left and these two nuns came back to their senses, Lucifer felt utterly hopeless.

“Are you… really the Queen of Hell?” The young nun Charlotte was incredulous, even curious enough to pinch Lucifer’s cheek at that time.

“Holy Mother Maria, to bring this legendary sinful fallen angel here, is this a test for me?” As for the elderly nun, she directly knelt before the statue of Holy Mother Maria, continuously praying for something.

But the two soon accepted the situation — because they both received divine revelation simultaneously.

Among Jehovah’s devout followers, it has always been said that the Lord would grant divine revelation to the faithful. To receive the Lord’s revelation and fulfill the Lord’s will is the most important thing in the eyes of some believers.

Thinking of this, Lucifer sighed and then left the room where the phone was placed. Next, Lucifer needed to be careful, crossing the backyard — because Charlotte was currently doing laundry in the yard.

After spending a lot of energy successfully avoiding Charlotte’s detection, Lucifer also needed to carefully pass through a long corridor — because she would pass by the room where the elder nun was reading.

The once ‘Morning Star of the Dawn’ no longer shone but had turned into a ‘Dust Star’ rolling on the ground.

The reason Lucifer had to be so cautious was that today the elder nun assigned her the task of cleaning the chapel’s floor once.

The elder nun said this was an act of penance and happily decreed that henceforth the task of cleaning the chapel’s floor would be assigned to Lucifer. She also said that if it wasn’t clean by sunset, there would be no dinner.

Perhaps when they regarded Lucifer as a pitiful child who had escaped from a brutal adult, they wouldn’t have the heart to treat her this way — but now that they had received divine revelation, especially the elder nun, their attitude towards Lucifer became somewhat subtle.

Even though they held the means to punish and restrict Lucifer now through the shackles, whenever they locked eyes with Lucifer, the elder nun would avert her gaze and continue reciting biblical scriptures.

In any case, the feeling of living under someone’s roof reminded Lucifer once again of the time after rebelling with the angels and falling into Hell. Although the former angels had given up their beliefs, there were still many conflicts with the native demons in Hell, and they were discriminated against by various demon clans…

“This is simply the worst situation… I’ll go take a nap.” Lucifer sighed, a somewhat defeatist thought forming in her mind.

“No way! Lucifer!”

Just as Lucifer prepared to move, her collar was grabbed from behind — Lucifer had no choice but to pretend not to hear and continued moving forward.

However, she was pulled back in an instant — Charlotte!

Charlotte at this time had rolled up her sleeves and was staring at Lucifer with her arms akimbo: “No slacking off, or the nun will punish you with no dinner tonight.”

“Shut up…”

“Lucifer, if you don’t eat dinner, your body won’t be able to handle it.” Charlotte widened her eyes and bent down.

“Shut up…”

“As it is now, you’re not even as good as ordinary children. If you don’t eat, you might starve to death!” Charlotte grabbed Lucifer’s shoulders, seriously instructing, “Do you understand! A good child should complete their work!”

Shut up… for a Queen of Hell to starve to death…

“Lucifer, are you listening? Do you know that not listening to others is very rude? Or is there something you’re unhappy about? If so, you can tell me, how else can I know if you don’t say? We need to be good at reflecting on ourselves… you’ve drifted off again, Lucifer! Didn’t I tell you, when listening to others, pay attention, look into their eyes, that’s the most basic courtesy!”

“Stop it already! Shut up!! You sow!! You pig I didn’t even want to toy with before! What right do you have to lecture me?! Huh?!”

“Nag, nag, nag, like a fly!!” On the verge of collapsing, Lucifer’s face turned ferocious, “Do you know who I am! I am one of the Seven Pillars ruling Hell, the arrogant queen, Lucifer!! You pig!!”

“Shaxarasha!” Charlotte suddenly closed her eyes and quickly uttered a rapid series of syllables.

As soon as these syllables appeared, Lucifer’s body instantly became extraordinarily heavy.

She blinked, finding herself already sitting on the ground — in a duck-like posture. Her hands and neck were now bound by a huge chain.

This was the ability Gabriel granted the two nuns, one big and one small, to manage this Queen of Hell.

Charlotte could summon the shackles to make herself sit down instantly, while the elder nun could summon the chains that linked the shackles, keeping herself detained completely.

The two nuns even called this ability ‘Command Spell’…

At this moment, Lucifer couldn’t stand, her body as if commanded, like a sinner, only able to look up at the young nun.

“You can’t do that! Lucifer, you mustn’t say such rude words next time! Be a good child, alright?” Charlotte’s face still had a trace of anger, but she continued her lecture with ample patience.

Great will of the abyss of Hell…

Save me…

Lucifer exhaled, as if he was also breathing out his own soul, his face full of fatigue, and then… suddenly!

…

‘Suddenly’ was, of course, a joke. The arrogant female emperor of Hell, even if her physical body died, her soul could be resurrected in the arrogant Divine Repository of the abyss.

But unless it was a real desperate situation, Lucifer would not want his soul to return to the abyss… When he is reborn next time, perhaps the current personality of Lucifer will disappear.

But just as Charlotte was getting excited, suddenly there was the sound of a cup breaking—coming from the room where the old nun was reading.

Charlotte immediately put aside her lecture to Lucifer, lifted the nun’s skirt, and ran towards the room—thanks to this, Lucifer finally managed to stand up, but the shackles around her neck and hands hadn’t disappeared.

She sighed and then slowly followed.

When Lucifer arrived at the room’s door, she saw Charlotte holding the fallen old nun, while beside them were the broken cup and splattered water.

At this moment, the old nun had her eyes tightly closed, her expression pained, and she reached up with force to grasp the clothes on her chest.

Lucifer frowned, slowly walking over, “What’s wrong with her?”

“It should be an old problem,” Charlotte hurriedly said at this time, “A few years ago, the Mother suddenly started having occasional angina. But after seeing a doctor and taking medicine continuously, she hasn’t had an attack for the past year.”

“Oh, really? No wonder she looks like she’s about to die,” Lucifer suddenly squinted her eyes.

For Lucifer, who was bound by the chains, she couldn’t actively harm the older nun who possessed a ‘Command Spell.’ Only, if it was a natural death…

“I just remembered, the Mother’s medicine for this month seems to be finished!” Charlotte said worriedly at this moment, “I was supposed to get the medicine, but the mountain road was blocked, couldn’t get through… the Mother has probably stopped taking it for several days.”

Lucifer sneered, “Probably thinking that having no attacks for a year means the medicine isn’t needed… what she usually takes might be hard for her to afford, right?”

“How do you know…” Charlotte was stunned.

“Matters like this, anyone with a bit of brain could have figured out, Miss Pig!” Lucifer shrugged, “This old thing looks like she won’t survive the night, you should prepare to bury her, or else the corpse smell might be unbearable. For me, it’s nothing, but as for you… you probably won’t be able to adapt.”

“I can’t do it!” Charlotte stood up with red eyes at this moment, “I can’t do it!”

Saying that, she hurriedly helped the old nun up, and step by step walked towards the garage where the motorcycle was parked—obviously, for Charlotte, supporting a person completely unable to move was a very difficult task, so she had to switch to carrying her.

Perhaps because she was too worried about the Mother, the chains binding Lucifer had disappeared, and Lucifer was happy with the comfort, a faint smile on her face as she followed behind Charlotte.

Truly moving…

The girl’s struggle in hardship, and the sadness and fear when facing a loved one’s departure, even though now she has lost all her powers, temporarily unable to extract anything from this despair, just a glance can also make one’s mood upbeat!

This might be Lucifer’s happiest day since coming to the monastery.

“Give up, you can’t help her. If you leave here, even if everything goes well, it may take at least an hour, right? In her current state, she can’t hold out.”

Charlotte gritted her teeth, her eyes slightly red and moist, Lucifer’s words of despair were like a harsh whip.

“Hey, even if she dies, it doesn’t concern you, does it? You might even directly inherit this monastery. Though it’s broken, it’ll be yours in the future!”

Lucifer sped up their steps to come in front of Charlotte, spreading both hands, then twirling and dancing, “Imagine, no one to restrain you, do anything you want, no need to recite those boring and nauseating hymns every day, how delightful… ah, freedom, it’s right before you!”

Charlotte remained silent, continuing to walk quickly forward.

“Is it guilt? Reluctance? Or hypocrisy?” Lucifer spoke with a playful tone, “Forgot those dirty books secretly hidden under the bed? Or the things you did to yourself some nights… I saw them, you know?”

Charlotte’s pupils suddenly contracted.

It was like the whispers of a devil… no, she was the queen of Hell.

At this moment, Lucifer jumped onto the low railing of the corridor, laughed lightly beside Charlotte’s ear, “Need me to repeat? When your hands, slowly, slowly, caress your own body, and when the body trembles, wanting to make a sound, but afraid of being heard by the Mother in the next room, that frightened look… both scared and showing a satisfied expression because of the feeling of betrayal. Saw it all, you know… all of it.”

The sound was gentle, just beside the ear… suddenly Lucifer licked Charlotte’s ear, “You’re fantasizing about me, aren’t you… you pervert. You don’t want to let the Mother know these things, do you? You actually don’t want to disappoint her, right? But, in this world, all secrets will ultimately be impossible to hide… but only the dead cannot know. Understand?”

Charlotte’s body suddenly shivered, as if all her strength had been drained.

“That’s right, just like that, it’s fine to stop.”

Lucifer’s voice was even softer at this moment, “Don’t worry, just consider it a natural death, anyway, she’s reached that age… though it’s annoying, I must admit that given Mother’s devotion, after death she will go to Heaven… that guy will probably like Mother’s soul, right? What reason do you have to stop her from going to Heaven?”

Slap——!

The crisp sound of a slap.

Charlotte was lowering her head at this moment but had already raised her hand—at the moment of raising, she slapped Lucifer’s cheek, making a rather crisp sound.

Lucifer was a bit dazed, instinctively covering her cheek.

Charlotte then raised her head, eyes filled with tears, looking disappointedly at Lucifer, her voice hoarse said, “You… have never been loved, have you.”

With that, Charlotte stopped paying attention to Lucifer, carrying the old Mother, and quickly walked toward the garage.

Lucifer still covered her cheek, after a while she raised her head, looked up at the sky behind her, blinked, “Love and whatnot… not needed.”
