Chapter 918: Chapter 162: The Ancient Scripture Scroll

“Muscle atrophy?”

Mr. Blind was in the research room of the special research group of the pharmaceutical company, reading various data provided by the group about the living zombie when Song Da suddenly came to him.

He used Braille, which was instantly printed and produced—there were specially configured instruments for Mr. Blind here.

Upon hearing Song Da’s sudden visit and his question, Mr. Blind took his hand off the Braille page and faced Song Da.

At this time, Song Da nodded and sat down, “Yes, Blind Man, if it’s you, can this disease be cured?”

After a moment of silence, Mr. Blind slowly said, “It depends on the patient’s specific condition. If it’s due to bone necrosis causing the atrophy, even for me, it’s very difficult. If it’s for other reasons, a careful examination is needed to know. Song Da, I’m not really an immortal who can cure diseases with medicine, you should know that.”

“I see…” Song Da nodded. He didn’t come with much hope initially—he knew the Blind Man had skills but wasn’t all-powerful.

“Perhaps trying some acupuncture might show results.” Mr. Blind pondered briefly, “Song Da, is this your friend? You usually don’t speak up voluntarily.”

“It’s… sort of.” Song Da sighed softly, not intending to hide it, “Actually, it’s the relative of the living corpse in the research room, her sister. I went to see her today.”

Mr. Blind nodded and suddenly said, “Tomorrow, I’ll go with you to take a look at the situation.”

Song Da asked in surprise, “Blind Man, are you willing to help?”

Mr. Blind said indifferently, “After all, we are researching Natasha, and Taoism also talks about cause and effect. Since Natasha has blood relations, researching her means we are entangled with her karma… Too much sin, even the Judge’s Brush at the Yanwang Palace can’t handle it.”

“Blind Man, I feel your life is still long.” Song Da said seriously at this moment.

Mr. Blind just waved his hand, dismissing it.

However, Song Da did not leave immediately but said, “Blind Man, there’s another matter. Originally, I planned to find you earlier, but you’ve been busy these days, so I couldn’t find the opportunity.”

“What matter?” Mr. Blind raised his head.

Song Da said, “It’s like this. Blind Man, do you still remember the treasure vault under the old castle? Actually, when the brothers first escaped from there, they found something in that vault. We thought you might be interested in it, so we hid it.”

“Oh?”

Mr. Blind showed a curious expression—although the Song Big Three Brothers were martial artists and quite different from his system, they were among those in the village with whom he could chat.

Occasionally, he would point out some martial arts to these three brothers. Naturally, the Song Big Three Brothers also knew some of his interests and hobbies.

“It’s this, an ancient scripture scroll.”

Song Da then took out the ancient scripture scroll that had been hidden at that time from the treasure vault and placed it in front of Mr. Blind.

“Hmm…” Mr. Blind frowned slightly and suddenly reached out, gently placing his palm on the scripture.

But in just an instant, Mr. Blind’s hand quickly recoiled—not because something on the scripture repelled his hand, but because Mr. Blind withdrew his hand at the moment he touched the scroll… showing a reaction similar to the natural reflex of an ordinary person touching electric current.

Song Da saw this clearly and immediately asked nervously, “Blind Man, is this thing dangerous?”

“It’s hard to say.”

Mr. Blind shook his head and then said solemnly, “However, it was correct for you to bring this thing to me. Left in the hands of your three brothers, it will only bring some unnecessary troubles to you. I can’t be sure right now, but it’s certainly not good.”

“So dangerous?” Song Da’s expression changed with surprise.

Mr. Blind’s hand hovered over the ancient scripture scroll, “It seems like there’s something on this… like some kind of special seal. But one thing is certain, this thing is an item within our level.”

Regarding the Blind Man’s level… Song Da felt slightly shocked internally.

Strictly speaking, their three brothers could be counted as transcendent as well, but they achieved it through long and arduous practice, and within the transcendent realm, they have always been at the bottom tier.

Previously, they discussed transcendent matters with the Blind Man and learned that there are numerous systems within the transcendent realm, vast and complex, without a unified global standard, only relatively clear divisions between regions.

For example, the Blind Man can be classified under “Entering the Way” in the Taoist community, whereas Song Da and his brothers can only be considered ‘Peeking into the Path.’

In Hua Country’s Taoist world, ‘Attaining the Way’ is classified as the best state of cultivation, the strongest group, but according to the Blind Man, ‘Attaining the Way’ practitioners are very few.

“Alright, just leave this thing with you.” Song Da didn’t hesitate at all, “Then, Blind Man, if there’s nothing else, I’ll head back first.”

Mr. Blind suddenly said, “Wait a moment.”

Then, Mr. Blind picked up paper and pen, silently writing something on the paper. Song Da didn’t curiously peek but quietly waited.

After about twenty minutes, Mr. Blind handed out the written two sheets of paper, “This is a Qi Cultivation technique, better than your current Neigong Heart Method. Take it; it’s what you deserve.”

Song Da was overjoyed, thinking that their calculation in the treasure vault turned out to be correct. The Blind Man is a fair person and never takes advantage of others without compensation.

Song Da quickly glanced at the content on these two pages, only feeling it was cryptic and hard to understand, but while muttering it, he felt a restless stirring of strength within him. He knew this was definitely good stuff, so he quickly stored it and then bid farewell.

After Song Da left, Mr. Blind did not continue ‘viewing’ the zombie’s research report but sat upright, naturally placing his hands on his legs, with the scripture scroll laid flat in front of him.

Mr. Blind suddenly opened his eyes, looking solemn. However, not long after, blood spilled from the corner of his mouth. He hurriedly closed his eyes, covered his chest, and took deep breaths.

After a long time, he finally calmed down, but his brow furrowed tightly, muttering to himself, “What is this… why can’t even the Heavenly Eye see through?”

Recently, this was the second time he couldn’t see through.

The first time was with Young Master Luo Qiu from Old Master Song’s house; he couldn’t see through Young Master Luo Qiu’s fate, but was almost certain that the other was a Supreme Noble.

But this ancient scroll…

Mr. Blind sat silently for a long time before retrieving a wooden box from the drawer of his desk. He placed the ancient scroll into it, and then with his fingers formed a sword technique, writing something on the box.

His fingertips glowed faintly, tracing a series of complicated symbols before they melded into the box. Mr. Blind then slightly sighed in relief.

At that moment, Mr. Blind’s phone rang—it was his private line.

“Master Ancestor, it’s me, Huang Runfa.” A deep voice on the other end spoke; the voice’s owner was likely not young.

“Huang Runfa?” Mr. Blind was silent for a while before saying, “What do you want?”

This Huang Runfa calling him Master Ancestor wasn’t because he was a disciple; rather, Huang Runfa was a descendant of a child who once accompanied Mr. Blind.

Because of the child’s loyalty, Mr. Blind before traveling the world passed down some fate-reading skills, as a form of compensation.

A few years ago, he had returned once, the child had died, but he met Huang Runfa. This guy learned the fate-reading skills left by the child, made a lot of money, but also leaked many secrets, becoming mired in sins, which Mr. Blind was too lazy to address.

However, he still considered the incense relationship from the past with the close child, leaving a contact method—over the years, Huang Runfa hadn’t used it.

Mr. Blind had also warned Huang Runfa, unless necessary, not to contact him.

“Master Ancestor, it’s like this.” Huang Runfa hurriedly said, “Actually, I’ve been back at the residence on Mountain Wudang for several months now, but there’s one thing I can’t solve… I’ve really been forced, so I called you.”

“What is the matter?” Mr. Blind asked indifferently.

Huang Runfa hurriedly said, “It’s like this, a few months ago, I did a reading for a young person. Initially, it was just about marriage, seemed simple! But… I couldn’t find a result, that young person is so unusual, just like ‘The Appearance of All Beings’ mentioned in your fate-reading! Later, my ability was insufficient, I directly fainted, after waking up, I couldn’t measure anything anymore… my skills were directly broken! With no other choice, I returned to the residence on Mountain Wudang, hoping to find a solution, but after so long, there’s been no progress… I really couldn’t help but disturb your peace.”

He certainly didn’t know that Mr. Blind wasn’t in seclusion somewhere, but rather in a pharmaceutical company’s research lab.

“The Appearance of All Beings…” Mr. Blind pondered for a moment before slowly saying, “I know about your situation, but your skill-breaking isn’t necessarily due to this divination. Huang Runfa, since learning fate-reading, you’ve leaked too many secrets, this is the heavens’ accumulating punishment for you.”

“Ah! How could it be!” Huang Runfa lamented, “But over the years I’ve been low-key, minding cultivation for virtuousness and merit… yet still couldn’t escape? Master Ancestor, you must save me, in the past month, I often have ominous feelings of imminent disaster, truly anxious at heart! I beg you…”

“Let’s do this.” Mr. Blind thought for a while, “The profit you gained from fortune-telling, disperse it completely. Doing good deeds isn’t useless, great merit can even wash your sins clean. I’ve said my piece, what you do, you must comprehend yourself.”

“This… this…” Huang Runfa, at the Mountain Wudang residence, was anxious and restless, but this Master Ancestor was like an immortal, forceful demands wouldn’t work; reluctantly, he agreed, “Runfa will certainly follow Master Ancestor’s guidance well.”

“There are paths of affinity and magic, go now.” Mr. Blind nodded.

“One more thing, Master Ancestor,” Huang Runfa hurriedly said, “Yesterday I found a paper note left on the meditation cushion in the quiet room at the residence, Runfa didn’t know who left it…”

“What did the note say?” Mr. Blind frowned.

“Nothing much,” Huang Runfa directly said, “just six words, ‘February second, dragon raises head’… Master Ancestor, Master Ancestor? Are you still there?”

“I know.” Mr. Blind suddenly said after a moment of silence, “Huang Runfa, you should stay at the Mountain Wudang residence these days, I will go back in a few days, that’s all.”

Without waiting for Huang Runfa to respond, Mr. Blind had already ended the call, then walked quickly out of the research laboratory office.

“Prepare the car, I want to return to the Han Residence.”

…

…

The policies on natural deaths in this country are unclear, but on the seventh day after the accident, the insurance company directly contacted Ouyang Jie.

After some time of observation, with Ouyang Jie’s American passport, finally under embassy arrangements, Ouyang Jie could leave the hospital on the seventh day.

Zhong Luoyue did not come to pick her up, as she had left earlier, seemingly taken away by members of Boss Zhong’s family… such a pinnacle tomb-raiding family of Hua Country, naturally wouldn’t leave their direct descendants in dangerous places.

However, after the incident, Ouyang Jie’s feelings towards Zhong Luoyue had cooled significantly… family children tend to be emotionally detached.

“Mr. Ouyang Jie, the local government has issued a death certificate for Mr. Jin Wucheng.” The insurance officers who had come early to the hospital were quite polite, “While we deeply regret this matter, given the death certificate, we believe Mr. Ouyang Jie should open the items Mr. Jin stored.”

Ideally, Ouyang Jie didn’t want the legacy stored in the bank vault… but what exactly did Uncle Jin leave him?

“Sir? Mr. Ouyang Jie? Are you okay? You look a bit unwell.”

“Oh… nothing, it’s just the sun feels glaring.” Ouyang Jie shook his head, “Maybe it’s from staying in the hospital for so long, suddenly getting used to sunlight again.”

Ouyang Jie said this, and then looking at the car the insurance officer had come in, felt like he wanted to get in immediately… the weather wasn’t hot, but he felt inexplicably uncomfortable, wanting to find a cooler place.

“Shall we get in the car? We’ll head to the bank now.” The insurance officer smiled: “Mr. Ouyang Jie, do you have all your documents at hand?”

“Let’s go.”

Ouyang Jie directly moved into the back seat of the car, finally feeling a bit more comfortable.
